@DawPi has a very nice little plugin that I use that will also change any amazon affiliate links posted to use your own amazon affiliate code.

The example I showed is actually using a different IPS app to community map. Sorry if that wasn't clear

Ive just done more or less the same thing on my site with user based permissions.
Regular guests and members get to see a map at a fixed location which is of no real use. To be able to zoom right in they need to upgrade.
Image below is what regular members see. Enough to see theres something in their area but not enough to present any security issues.

    Hi,
Am I able to restrict how precise a member can pin their location.
I'm happy for members to select their town / general area, but not any more specific than that for security/safety.
    Regards
    Jim

Yellow Pages and SuperDirectory are based on IPS’ Pages app. Think of them as a styling optimized for directories. You will not gain functionality as you would with an app that is specifically coded to be directory.

Slightly confused over this. Apparently theres no longer any need to get a site submitted for approval

That being the case, what exactly am I supposed to put on this field?

Actually you might be able to ignore this. It doesn't appear to be linked, but I could swear when I looked 10 minutes ago one of the words was autolinked. Will screenshot if it happens to reappear

Things changing as there are upgrades will always be an issue for any custom development.
To guard against large impacting changes as much as possible, make sure that in your scope of work, the developer is only interacting with IPS through the API and does not directly touch or have access to the IPS database.

I am surprised that this is not possible in the admin panel.  I was told that we use a cron job within the server itself.  Our WP sites are backed up via the admin side though.

If it isn't a managed server then you can set it up with a cronjob.
#!/bin/bash BACKUPTIME=`date +%b-%d-%y` DESTINATION=/root/backup/backup-$BACKUPTIME.tar.gz echo "Creating backup of database to $SQLDUMP" mysqldump --single-transaction --quick --databases forum | gzip -9 > $DESTINATION echo "Dump Zipped up" echo "Uploading zipped dump to the Amazon S3 bucket…" nice -n 10 ionice -c2 -n 7 s3cmd put $DESTINATION s3://cdn.myforumDB-backups/ echo "Removing the backup file $SQLDUMP" rm $DESTINATION echo "WooHoo! All done" And for files I have this
#!/bin/bash BACKUPTIME=`date +%b-%d-%y` DESTINATION=/root/backups/backup-$BACKUPTIME.tar.gz SOURCEFOLDER=/srv/http/forum/root/html nice -n 10 ionice -c2 -n 7 tar -cpzf $DESTINATION $SOURCEFOLDER echo "Uploading zipped dump to the Amazon S3 bucket…" s3cmd put $DESTINATION s3://cdn.forum/Files-backups/ echo "Removing the backup file $SQLDUMP" rm $DESTINATION echo "WooHoo! We considered something like that a while ago. Once we reaslised that nearly all the swearing was in the off topic forum, we thought itwould only encourage posters to have a competition for the most ridiculous sentence possible and there's alreay enough rubbish in that forum.
In the end we just used 16 *s for all words we replaced. That destroys any chance of people inferring the meaning and thus it is impossible for members to get the context or get offended. IT has virtually stopped it now apart from 'jokes' copied over from other sources.

Customer B is a consumer, has no idea, nor really cares what software the forum uses, in fact they probably don't even know its a widely uses application.  Customer wonders nothing that has any bearing on IPS

@DawPi can you do this? I'm thinking it would be an awesome addition to tie in with my tip site directory. I'd be interested in going halves with @coert_g on such a development
what are you using for the listings/directory?
  24. Thanks
Steve Bullman reacted to Sonya* in Advice on creating a new feature on my IPS site
You can install it as many times as you need. You will not get any headache. SuperDirectory are "just" templates that can be applied to any database. So you create two databases in Pages and configure templates for them equally.

Steve Bullman reacted to Maxxius in alt images tags for SEO
Just yesterday I was working on this subject where I was looking for a way to retroactively add many alt image tags to a Wordpress blog I am going to convert into IPS Pages. I wanted to take care of its alt image tags because in WP there are more solutions. One of them which I tested was https://imageseo.io
I did a test run and it got about 50-60% of the tags named quite alright. Some of them were good attemps but yet still wrong and inaccurate to a certain degree. AI probably is the way to go. and to be absolutely sure it perhaps would be nice to have a page in ACP where all the images are gathered which are posted in the forum and a field next to it where you could type in alt image tags for all of them in bulk and save. that would be a lot fasted than going to each topic, edit each reply double click and enter new tag, then save. My suggestion though not ideal but it would save a lot of time if people were to do it by hand.
