Steve Bullman got a reaction from Adriano Faria in Force bulk mail to usergroup regardless of their privacy settings
You're a star, thank you
Hi Marc,
Yes I fully understand this and how it could easily be abused. In this instance I need to send vital information to a certain usergroup to update their information within an app feature. Not contacting them isn't an option unfortunately.

There is no option to ignore a users preference on mail within the core platform, and to be honest it would actually be very much recommended against

Steve Bullman got a reaction from Andy Millne in Displaying multiple adverts
I currently use revive for serving ads on my site but am considering using the built in ad feature at IPS. I would like to run around 12 ads in the side column but would want them to display in a random order each time the page is refreshed. Is it possible to add 12 banners to one location in this manner?

Steve Bullman reacted to Meddysong in How to set up sub pages in pages app
You have to create the folder beforehand for it to be selectable, Steve, so you need to go back to the Pages menu, and then click "Add Folder", which you will call "abax".
After that, you'll create a page, calling it whatever you like. Once the page exists and you've assigned its location to that folder, toggle open the "abax" folder on the Pages menu, and any posts you've created there will be listed. Click the down caret for the relevant page, and you'll see an option to make it the folder's default. That's the page which will appear at yoursite.com/abax. Any other pages in the folder will be at yoursite.com/abax/pagename.

Steve Bullman reacted to Nathan Explosion in Changing the order of the +Create Function
Go to your application listing, and reorder the applications - based on the above, your current order is probably:
System
Forums
Events
Quizzes (possibly the name)
Pages
VideoBox (possily the name)
Raffles (possibly the name)
Polls (possibly the name)

Rename your current Members group to NOOBs. Create a new Members group. Move all members from NOOBs (renamed in #1) to Members (created in #2). All new registered members will now end up in the NOOBs group.

Thanks for the answer. Sure would be nice if I knew in advance what wouldn't work when upgrading to 4.7.2, versus upgrading, having half my apps/plugins broken, and then waiting for them to be fixed. Especially since some of them are somewhat critical to my community (and most of those are custom apps/plugins I paid to have written).

Steve Bullman reacted to Jim M in Help needed with Twitter log in options
Conferring with my colleague, based on your original screenshot, you upgraded to the version 2 Twitter login API at some point. I'm afraid, our current login code will not work with that. It is on our to-do list to upgrade our login code to be functional with the new Twitter version.
If you still have your Twitter version 1 API keys, it will work. However, if you did perform an upgrade, it will no longer work due to being on version 2. I am sorry for any confusion.

@Jim M Twitter's site has changed a lot since the guide was posted and the way of setting up the application is completely different now:

Steve Bullman got a reaction from Chris Anderson in Links Directory
So for example, if I want to set up a category for shops that offer equipment repair, theres no way of someone searching specifically for one thats in driving distance of them. I understand this isn't really the purpose of this app, but for my own use it would open up a whole new range of possibilities. I'd be prepared to pay for a secondary plugin for your app that would achieve this. Unless of course you were prepared to make it part of the core app which would be awesome.

Steve Bullman got a reaction from itlo in Option to explain why posts aren’t approved
Like most people i have a members first post set so it has to be approved. Most of the time the ones that aren’t approved are spam but occasional posts aren’t approved for another reason. It would be really useful if there was a built in option for showing the member the reason why their list wasn’t approved which they would receive as a notification or private message

Thanks for posting!
Unfortunately, this issue is beyond the scope of our technical support. 👩💻
Our technical support is happy to help you with the Invision Community platform, but we're unable to help with things like server management, theme questions and modifications.
I've moved this to our Community Support area where other Invision Community owners will see it and help where they can.

Martin, I wonder if you have any suggestions for how to make this more user friendly, specifically I am talking about for people who aren't used to using forums. I am looking to attract a whole new userbase who don't use forums, or have otherwise drifted away from forum use. They will need to be able to contact the person easily without having to give it too much thought. I might add a phone number field on the right hand side, but Ideally there should be something like a contact button that would open up a private message window. Is such a thing doable please?

Basically it is swipe when user work with this in mobile/tablet. but yes, it is scrollable and can add unlimited links in it. in next update there will be style option to display these link as swipe/scroll or show all. 👍
About demo link, I have updated this in resource page in marketplace, here but unfortunately I can't edit my posts. seems permissions for this are not granted anymore.
Thanks for purchase.
As I said in previous posts, current version have limited options regarding links, but all sort of customization will be added in next update. those you asked in previous posts and also in this post are also implemented.
Regardless of this, if you want refund please send me PM. there will be no problem. 👍

Steve Bullman reacted to Matt Finger in Option to explain why posts aren’t approved
Hi Steve!
Don't worry, coincidentally Approval Queue UI updates are currently in the works and hopefully will be included in one of the next 4.7 releases! Among other enhancements, exposing the reason content is held for approval is on the list so stay tuned.
Thanks!

Steve Bullman got a reaction from OptimusBain in Can you please please fix this
I think I posted about this ages ago but its something I find so annoying and it would be great if it could be improved.
The user interface for starting a post simply doesnt work when you have sub forums. For example if I want to start a topic in general chat, when I select it I then have to click in the white area beside the drop down to make the drop down disappear and show the continue button.
