    Hi
    Just discover this
sounds weird to me, App store, Google play store, Wordpress plugins depository, it makes sense to find all apps / plugins at the same place, rather than to have to check all devs websites...
i am not sure that's a good move

Hm, I can see why IPS made this change but to be honest, asking clients to seek custom app/plugin development is going to be a lot more expensive than finding an app on a marketplace that many customers will be able to purchase. I guess it will make me a lot more hesitant to spend my money on third party apps.

Which means it's practically useless now as it will always be giving false readings - I understand the performance impact issue, but how much of an issue is it if it wasn't an immediately obvious noticeable impact before it was introduced.  If it's cached then how often is the cache updated and would be an idea to give admins an option as to how often it gets updated and allow them to decide what impact on performance it has 🙂

These are some common feature suggestions from my community regarding the clubs feature.  A lot of them are based around giving club owners more control over their own clubs and members. If there are any plugins/apps that can provide any of these functions, please point me in the right direction!
Move "Edit this x" option from the drop-down menu to a button next to the tab title.  The current placement for the edit option when a member wants to edit a specific club tab is not too user-friendly. Most would not know that they would have to click the club management menu just to make changes to one specific tab. An example of the new placement can be found on the calendar tab, which has a settings cog next to the tab title that is pretty useless since it has nothing to do with settings, which also confuses members. Add content creation permissions on the club level. Currently, there is no way for a club owner to set who can create topics in a forum tab, who can submit images in a gallery tab, and so on and so forth. It's basically all one blanket permission for the entire club which we get many complaints about. Some want forum tabs for informational purposes, or galleries to showcase their own artwork as a portfolio, for example. Ability for Owners/leaders/mods to mention the club member group and add club mentions as a notification setting option.  This is a popular feature request due to platforms like Discord that allow you to tag members based on user groups/roles. People prefer to be mentioned or "tagged" for important replies instead of following content and getting spammed with notifications for every reply or action performed. Allow club owners the ability to change the club type on the frontend. (Public/Open/Closed/Private/Read Only) I'm not even sure why this doesn't exist already? Any other platform I've been apart of that had some kind of group system allowed owners to be able to change this freely. Currently, our members have to submit a support ticket for us to change it via the ACP and this is a need we would like to eliminate. It's common for owners to create a private group so that they can take the time to set it up before opening it up for invitations. Add membership tiers. Some of them would love to use our clubs as Patreon/Ko-Fi alternatives, but are held back by there only being one membership fee option. Allowing them to create however many tiers they need personally would be great, but if that's not possible, having at least 3 tier options built-in would be a great compromise for now. Then some permissions to choose who can view which club tabs based on their membership level would round this out. Ability to hide the "Overview" tab. Quite simply, some don't like it and would prefer to hide it, but this one isn't that important.   Edit to clarify: With the ability to create custom pages added to clubs, they now prefer making custom pages as the new overview page without the activity feed, so that they can stylize it however they like with the use of tables and css.  The overview tab becomes redundant and some owners would like to just hide it if they've chosen to replace it with a custom page.

User2016 reacted to Real Hal9000 in GDPR Consent Banner and IPS
    Hello,
I feel we should revisit the platform’s compliance with GDPR, in light of the latest developments and clarifications issued by the EU. Had some discussions, read a lot about this and it's clear to me that the classic Cookie strip with one button (I accept) simply doesn't cut it anymore and would make the website owner liable for not fully following the current regulations.

It's been brought to my attention from the ad network we use, that we should provide a full Consent message to every visitor of our site, and give them the option to choose which cookies, if any, they would want to be used during their visit. There are already many services out there like Cookiebot, Quantcast and OneTrust which can scan one’s site and automate the process by creating this banner. Of course even if they have limited free packages, my main concern is that there are limitations to styling, speed, translation, etc. I feel that such features must be provided from the platform itself, which must integrate the IAB Consent Framework.
A valid cookie consent banner has to look like the one Cookiebot provides, offering the ability to choose the type of cookies the visitor wants. If you’d like to see a live example, visit this page.

Two links from the Cookiebot site, which I really feel that they offer a full picture of what is the proper way to have a GDPR Consent banner in your site.
GDPR and cookies | GDPR cookie consent | Is my use of cookies compliant? Active consent and the case of Planet49 | CJEU | GDPR & ePR I’d very much like to read your thoughts on this and particularly whether such options are included in the roadmap.

User2016 reacted to Matt in 4.6: How to restore custom member titles
Invision Community 4.6 brings a brand new achievements system which overhauls the ranks system along with adding the ability to earn points which translates into a higher rank via rules.
As part of the clean-up, we removed the custom member title from the author section of the post as there's a limit to how much information we can show comfortably!
Of course, some communities used custom member titles and wish to continue using them. Fortunately it's easy enough to get them back.

Step 1: Log into the ACP and navigate to Members > Profiles > Profile Fields
Step 2: You will see a group called "Retained", inside is a new custom field called "Member Title". This profile field was used in the upgrade to save the custom member title data. Click on the pencil icon to edit.

Step 3: Post upgrade, this field is effectively switched off, but it can easily be switched back on. For the "Display format for topics" choose custom and just use: {$content} as the value. This will remove the "Member Title:" prefix. Save the changes.

You will now see the member title has been restored.

Advanced tip:  Only do this if you are comfortable making theme edits! If it all goes wrong, don't panic. There is a revert button to undo your changes! Edit the template bit Forums > topics > postContainer in your active theme and move the block highlighted here up underneath the {{endif}} of the {{$comment->isAnonymous()}} block.

User2016 reacted to Pavel Chernitsky in What's going on with the app?
So, the "communities" app has been out as a beta since september - that's more that 5 months now. But since it's launch there were no updates on it regarding when to expect it to be "stable", we've had a completely "game breaking" bug with it (screen turns white once you log in) and there has been no fix, ETA on a fix, or any communication on the matter since our ticket was closed with a resounding "It's a beta".
Having an app that can push notifications to members' mobile devices was one of the major reasons that made us choose to move our community to IPS instead of other platforms. And for quite a while it feels like we're being toyed with.
Can we get some answers, updates, ETAs, or any kind of information regarding that very central and meaningful part of the service you guys are charging good money for? Or are we just going to stay in this loop of you making promises, us spending money, and then endlessly waiting for an implementation that never comes?

I hope that IPS becomes faster this year as long as speed is more relevant each day as a ranking factor.
Maybe parts of IPS could be loaded by the API and JavaScript, following the model used by Instagram and Twitter.
The basic HTML structure loads fast and the contents are lazy loaded on demand (on view port) by the API.
New websites are adopting Next.js for fast loading.
I think it’s time for a huge IPS modernization on terms of speed. The basic tools are already here.

User2016 reacted to Joel R in IPB native Points System (IP.Subeconomies? IP.Points?)
If IPS is serious about gamification, here are some foundational points:
Entire suite -- Not just forums. Not just apps.  But the entirety and power of the full Invision suite: uploading a cover photo, filling out a profile custom field, writing a status update, making a blog post, RSVPing to a calendar event, getting a post marked as best answer, creating an album, renewing a subscription for the sixth time, winning second in the leaderboard, getting an item promoted.      Weighted -- Writing an in-depth long-form blog is very different from uploading one image, but IPS weighs them the same as one content item.  They shouldn't count the same.   Customizable -- I would like a gamification system to be customizable to exclude / include nodes, categories, and apps.  How I reward my users is very different than how you run your community or how Invision runs its community.  How we offer member journeys will be as diverse as our communities.   Clubs -- I would like a gamification system to include clubs.  Not nearly at the same amount of customization, but each club deserves its own basic set.   Meaningful -- The rewards should be: Immediate, Recognize the relative difficulty of the accomplishment, and Provide the steps needed to get to the next reward.   Typical reward: "Congrats, you won a badge for making X posts." Better reward: "Congrats, you won a badge for making X posts, an accomplishment that puts you into the top 10% of users.  Your next badge is at Y posts." Attention Grabbing -- If a tree falls in a forest and no notification is sent out, does anybody care?  Gamification needs to have movement, to have excitement, to be dynamic, and offer a call to action.      What I'd like for gamification to address:
Profile onboarding - I've logged in to the accounts of multiple users over the years, and every single one has totally ignored the Profile Completion.  I would love to actually see usage statistics on larger sites, but at least on my site, most users don't care about Profile Completion.  I'd rather deprecate Profile Completion in favor of Gamification.   New user activation - There needs to be multiple calls to action within the first X minutes, where X is the site's average session duration. I've seen first-hand how if I can talk live to a user when he first joins, his posting skyrockets at least over that session. There needs to be activity, excitement, and movement within that first session duration.      Member pathways - Users find fulfillment in many ways in our communities. We need to empower them to both progress along certain member pathways while encouraging them to also explore other pathways.

User2016 reacted to Pavel Chernitsky in Duplicate User Detector
Hey guys, Not sure if this is the right forum for this topic, but I don't see which one would be more appropriate.
Since - for a reason that completely eludes me - IPS has no system implemented to easily deal with banned users opening a new user (there is one, but it has to be accessed manually via the user's page in the ACP), it looks like we need to make on.

What we need is a "duplicate user" detector that will pop a notification / open a thread in a dedicated forum / send an email / any other method of notifying the site staff when a registered user registers a new alias.
The plugin HAS TO take NO ACTIVE ACTION besides notifying the staff about the issue (since not all duplicate users will have actions taken against them).
It CAN'T be IP based since those are always changing, it CAN be cookie based, but it would be even better if it's based on something that isn't as easily bypassed.

    Any ideas/offers?
Thanks, and may your days be forever awesome.

You can do this but you need to make the translations you're referring to, and if you'd like the URL to change, edit the clubs friendly URLs in ACP > Settings > Advanced Configuration > Friendly URLs.

User2016 reacted to CoffeeCake in Persist forum view setting for logged in members
Members would like the choice to select from one of the available forum views (grid, traditional forum view, simplified listing with filters) and have that value persist across sessions on their member account. After submitting a support request, we were informed that this setting is stored in a cookie. Members clearing cookies, using multiple devices, or browing incognito are not having this value saved.
This should be a user account setting, restored upon login regardless of whether or not cookies are stored.

Only the topic. I had intended to implement this for the topic list, but some of the more recent changes to IPS has made my original approach impossible. I have not yet been able to find a good solution for that.

A new version has been uploaded to the Marketplace. Changes include:
Updated and tested for 4.2 Compatibility Ability to place template content at the top of the item page, under the title. (Example: when viewing a topic, the content would be shown directly under the topic title, before any posts) Ability to place template content anywhere on the page. (Note: this feature will require theme edits.) HTML Editor fields were not displayed correctly. Fixed.
