You would rerun the search and prune that you did prior.

Ok, I tried that (except move instead of prune) and I'll send you a link to a recording of that via DM, if you could confirm I'm doing something wrong or not. 🙂

Edit: Never mind, I'm not allowed to send you private messages. 😬

Should I approach support? Due to the private information shown in the video, I don't want to post it publicly.

There are no background tasks on your community so the process is done. You may wish to double check the process you performed and the process completed.

Thanks for checking @Jim M. How would I double-check the process - if you mean there are actual analytics I can look into?

Both actions would do the same, yes

Thanks for the response. I can confirm that only the initial 50 members were copied. Weird, as it asks for 1200 to be moved, I say yes, and as a result 50 get moved. Two days later, no progress.

Still better than removing one at a time, but just trying to understand if there's anything I can do better here. 🙂

There is no way in which to speed this up. The intention there is that its run in the background

    Hi Marc,

Does this also apply to moving to a different user group? For some reason only 50 members at a time get moved, even though it asks and I confirm the moving of about 1200 members to the user group.

Ideally - from my perspective - there would be a way to multi-select members via checkboxes and remove or move the ones you have checked. I can imagine you could cause a lot of harm to yourself as an admin if you don't know what you're doing, but currently removing a lot of invalidated users (I assume CAPTCHA blocked registrations) seems to be a very slow process, unless I'm missing something.

I just learned about the mass-pruning through the search result, which seems useful, but I would like to have an extra step to actually manually review what I'm removing, so I figured I'd mass-move all of the invalidated users to a temporary group first and then review the users in that group before running the mass-prune.

I am guessing that this is what you are doing:

    1. Toggled off the "All forums" checkbox (which will reveal the "Hide poll results in these topics" setting)
    2. No forums have been selected in the "Hide poll results in these forums (including clubs)" setting
    3. You have then set a specific topic in the "Hide poll results in these topics" setting
    4. Save
    5. The "All forums" option is enabled.

Please confirm if that is correct.

    Yep, this is correct 👍

  6. Hey, thanks for this good expansion to the poll tool. What's the correct way to refer to the specific poll that you want to hide the results for?

Edit: Never mind, it's auto-suggesting the names. Thanks!

Edit 2: it would be great if you could apply these features on a per-poll basis. Sometimes I would like to keep the poll result secret until I reveal it and sometimes it would be nice for it to be revealed automatically at the end of the poll.

The settings page seems like it defaults to hide on "all forums", even though I have just saved the settings to only hide the results of a specific poll. Is that working as intended?

Icons pointing to the old domain SHOULD not be effected by the license.  It should work even with NO license.

Which icons are not working?  Have you made sure to rebuild the system cache from the ACP to see if that resolve it?

Thanks for the advice Randy, let me try that.

Edit: Thank you so much @Randy Calvert - it was as simple as that!

Now just need to get the license transferred, but at least the site works. 🙂

Please do let us know if you require any futhre assistance, but it does seem at this point the issues are related to your server setup

    Thanks Marc.

It seems issues were related to COOKIE_DOMAIN in constants.php and by updating that, we're getting further. There are still some issues with some icons pointing to the old domain, but I'm thinking that might be linked to the license, which seems to have reverted back to the old domain again and is refusing to be removed as long as the old domain is pointing to the new domain. I remember there being a note about not being able to do it for free too often, but as we weren't able to assign the new address last time, I assume it will still work.

Your conf_global.php , constants.php, datastore folder, and uploads folder are encountering errors or our account does not have access. As you're using symbolic links on your server, I would advise placing these actual files in the installation directory as it could be creating issues.

Thanks Jim, I'll revert back to the old URL while we digest your feedback.

You would need to update to the site in the proper location and URL for us to investigate. We would not be able to move the installation for you, I'm afraid.

It is the same exact location, we are only switching domains, not servers. According to my understanding the new domain is also pointing to the correct folder - it's only the community redirecting to the default config URL at the moment. Thus changing the config file should then use new domain.

I am logged into your site without any issues there. Please clear your browser cache and then test this again

Did you try changing the config file to use the new address? We had to revert to the old address due to the problems. The old address works fine for me too. I described the old and new domains in the 'Notes' field.

Would it be easier to write about this privately?

Please note that changing the URL on file will not cause what you are seeing there. Check what you have changed in your conf_global.php file first of all, and if you Would Like us to take a look, please let us know.

Note, you will need to ensure you update your access details if you would like for us to take a look for you

Thank you Marc. I sent you a PM regarding the first point. I'll have to get back to you regarding access details.

    You would do the following

    • Change the URL within your conf_global.php file
    • Reset the URL in your client area
    • Add any redirects you wish from your old URL to the new URL

    Hi again,

Have done the reset but when I try to log in to the software now but I cannot login atm to the community software with the new address. It gives me this error:
    image.thumb.png.98d8437100c8150e61a77e24f244750e.png

I can reactivate the old URL and get to log in that way, but if I update the license key through that way it will probably lock it to the old URL again. Any advice @Marc Stridgen @Jim M

Edit: Trying to access the ACP directly causes a similar result.

Im a little lost as to what you mean there. Im referring to that which redirects from your old IPS location to the new IPS location. If you still have an IPS install in the old location it indeed would not let you reset this

Files are not physically moving anywhere, only the URL to the site.

I'm saying if the site relies on IPS for some functionality and we point the original URL somewhere else temporarily and the new URL points to the correct place, but it hasn't been updated on the IPS side - the community and the shared parts probably won't work until URL is updated in the IPS customer profile.

So I guess my question is: Should this change process work within seconds/minutes of redirecting the old location?

  15. Hi,

I'm supposed to change my site address from x to y. The files will stay in the same place, but the address is simply changed. The old address will also work, but redirect to the new URL.

    image.thumb.png.8d628e2a82956efd9417eab4c7b7cbb7.png

The instructions kind of make sense, but is the only option to temporarily shut down the site, so that the current URL doesn't work, and then the Invision system will allow me to point to the new location?

The resource will redirect you to the article post screen with the ability to change the title and description. Change if you want. By changing it will not change the topic. They're two different things now.

    There's no bug there.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply!

I don't know which software is responsible for the issue, but it does exist. I will PM you a link to a video of this.

    To clarify the issue:

    - When promoting a post to an article, it works and redirects to the article post screen.

    - You have the ability to change the title and description, however, even if you edit them, the original text and title of the promoted post will be used in the article, not the edits you made.

Again, I don't know if this has anything to do with your software, but the disconnect in logical functionality exists at least in my production environment. 🤷‍♂️

However, like I said in my previous post - once aware of this, it's not a big deal. I just thought I'd ask/let you know.
