SC36DC reacted to Jordan Miller in "Kindness" plugin
Glad to hear the idea is warming up to you a little!
I think it boils down to this for community owners: who do we want as frequent posters in your community. Some people just need friendly reminders to brighten up and that's ok. I think a tool like this could achieve that. 🙂

That’s what you should do: 2 answers per quiz. TRUR or FALSE.

In the moderator permissions there is a members shop section what allows admins / mods to buy items for free, disable it for the groups you don't want to have the freebies on
the thing with all that is no logs, Unless the dev of that adds the proper way to utilize the points system it will just add points and log nothing
it will be too much code and editing to do that as you may then restore the soft delete then it will need to readd etc etc
check out goals
it does lots of random awards etc for users to create comments, upload avatars etc etc read the description on it for all it does
Do you have commerce installed and enabled?

SC36DC got a reaction from RealViking in Downloads/Categories - Not Properly Displaying Content?
If that's the case, could what I stated be treated as a future request? It honestly should work that way. It's a bit confusing the way it works now. The parent category name SHOULDN'T be able to be clicked on then. If I have 15 different subcategories under 1 parent category, when I click the parent category, it should show everything listed below it. Then to fine tune your search/viewing, is when you click on a subcategory name.
Thank you.

I finally upgraded to 4.5 and using he API got rid of the posting lag associated with SMTP. The app is great, highly recommended.

SC36DC reacted to Interferon in The referral link DOES NOT suck
Nobody is going to post a link to our main forum page and get people to buy something that way. Instead they will post links to various content on our site like blogs or gallery images, people will go to see the content, and some of them will eventually buy a product from us.
The referral ID should work with links throughout the community like this: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/health-dashboard-r1216/?_rid=1, not just the main page. This should be built into the share system so when people share a page on Twitter or whatever, the referral ID is tagged onto the URL automatically. You have all the pieces right there to create a system where users are incentivized to share content and bring in new revenue. I have no idea why no one has connected the last bit of functionality needed to make that funnel start working.

Apps updated again to 2.3.3 hopefully I ain't missed nothing on this one, Once IPS check it if all good then everything should all be OK, Just to let everyone know, With all my applications and plugins when there is not one without a renewal it is basically your buying as is, i,e it works for the current version it states, there is no guarantee that there will be updates etc when IPS release major versions, sometimes there are reasons where they can't get updated like a couple I have already as it can only work using the IPS database and IPS no longer allow that, there are reasons where it is no longer feesable to keep updating them, there are hundreds of reasons why it might not get updated but you are buying it as is, but I personally like this application and will probably update it regardless, If anyone remembers the first version is was shocking lol a plugin what showed like 3 notes but like I say I like this app and use it myself, if anyone has any questions etc let me know

@Jon Erickson
Just purchased and set it up with no problems. Could you possible explain the advantages of using a configuration set?
I looked on Amazon, clicked 'Learn More', but it's still a bit confusing.

Just took a look in the API and it can return the English name of the language:
I'll add a setting. Probably this will not the ideal for everyone.
-----------------
EDIT:
Something like that:
It's enough just to run the support tool to rebuild the language data store file after update.
Unfortunately GENRES do not provide an English name.

In most cases, a configuration set will not be needed. It allows you to add a set of defined rules from AWS to your emails that get specified in the email header. These are things that are invisible to the average user. For example, you can have AWS track metrics on your emails sent and then have the metrics published to another AWS service. This is advanced usage case but possible with configuration sets.

Let me try that. Thanks.
It worked. I currently have it set for only Admin to view while I am still setting it up.
I really appreciate the quick reply and easy fix. 😉

That absolutely worked!!!!! I can not thank you enough. I felt bad asking for your help, I was just hoping it would be something you could figure out the correct css for this in a matter of seconds. The 'Referrer' title is now showing. It was set to "display:none", btw.
Thanks again @Ehren The true CSS HERO!

SC36DC reacted to FabioPaz in Amazon SES API For Sending Mail
Maybe I'm a cheap bastard, but if you insist in using ses, I would still use the SES smtp instead of paying for a plugin for an API.
The whole reason I don't use sendgrid or other services is to decrease costs, in the case of ses api you will be stuck with a third party app and still have to pay for ses.
Now it might not make any difference, but depending of your needs, I would be cautious about scalability in the future.
In my case, If would have to use a plugin to use ses api:
U$20 plugin U$5 every 6 months for renew U$0,10 for every 1000 emails from SES (60.000 free if you send then by a EC2 instance, not my case) I send almost 10.000 emails per day (notifications, etc), so lets cut it to HALF just to generate a simple example: 5.000 emails per day x 30 days = 150.000 * 0,10USD = U$15/month
The end result in the first year: U$210, U$190 everyother year.
Now, using google workspaces every year: U$64 (more than 3 times less).
If the quantity of emails you particulary send is small and this comparison don't make a lot of sense, you have a lot of great options too.
Just for example: without having to deal with any setup, sendgrid (that IPB fully support their api), allow you to send 100 emails per day FOR FREE, and for U$15 bucks you can send up to 50.000 (this is 1600+ emails per day).
TL:DR: in the end of the day, google workspaces trumps everything if you send less than 10.000 emails per day.

I think most of the posts in this topic have covered it. Utilizing the API over SMTP is significantly faster. If your community is sending many emails a day, this will help speed up your site.

I can take a look but one thing I’ve learned is that TMDB does not use data from their API on their site. @Davyc can confirm that. We ran in some situations that the data provided via API is not the same from their website.

SC36DC got a reaction from sobrenome in Amazon SES API For Sending Mail
Do you know of a online guide on how to set up Google Workspace correctly? In IPS I selected SMTP, then the following:
SMTP Host: smtp-relay.gmail.com
SMTP Protocol: TLS
SMTP Port: 587
SMTP Username: My google workspace email
SMTP Password: My google workspace password
Is any of this wrong? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
