  1. Thanks! Didn't see this feature - was searching through in the backend. These announcements are okay for super short notifications, which don't necessarily need explanations, something like "Server downtime tonight at 01:00 am" but not quite what I was looking for. Apart from the title, the actual text will be shown on a separate page once you click on it, which is not helpful for my needs. First of all, in my experience, people often don't click on stuff or don't realize it's clickable unless you add "Click Here!" to it. Also, either you highlight it in red, and people will will get annoyed over time "my god, what's sooo important?!" or you don't and people will completely ignore it. If the block could display it's text right there, that would help. Also, there is no option to have it sit only on the index page - also sad to leave out this option, as that's the first place you'd put it, but not necessarily on ALL the pages.
  2. Which announcements? Wasn't able to find this functionality. 🤨
  3. Hi everyone, in my previous 3.4 version I uses a hook or plugin called "Message on Board Index", it enabled me to post to message just below the header of the board index and also define which groups could see it (only guests, only members, etc.). This enabled me to have in introduction text for gust visitors or make an internal-only announcement, etc. Is there something similar for 4.5? I know there is a global notification option or plugin for 4.5, but that's a) not limited to only the index and b) can't be restricted to certain groups, so it's not what I need.
  4. Ah yes, I know that one, but what I said, that tool explicitly says it will only affect my account.
  5. Well, but it tell me this would be valid only for my user account ... ? I used the tool to display the language keys. However, this particular one does not have one, I don't know where it is coming from:
  6. But wouldn't that simply translate the word "Forum" wherever it may appear? That's probably not the result I want.
  7. Hi there, me again ... sorry, I have only just upgraded from 3.4 to 4.5 and have to do about one million settings and configurations. I noticed something ugly on the index page. There is a title section on top of the forums listing which just says "Forum" (and then on the far right there's the button to create a new topic). If you are in an actual forum with topics, one level lower, that block will show the name of that forum (or subforum). But on the start page it makes no sense whatsoever that it says "Forum". Well yes, the whole website is a forum. Duh. I would like to change this text to something more meaningful, for instance the actual name of my forum. Where can I find this, in which template? Andreas
  8. Ah! You know your way around 🙂 I'll try this immediately. Yaay! 😄
  9. Hm, thanks, but simply replacing the custom font is not what I was was looking for. Usually, there is a place somewhere, where all the Google Fonts are named and loaded, sometimes even including their different weights, and this list will define the content of the pulldown. If for some awkward reason the list is hardcoded to having exactly these 7 entries then I would want to replace two of the fonts with the two fonts I want. Andreas
  10. I use the regular list view, I like it flat and simple on the start page, not cluttered, which is also why I want to avoid the sub-forums all listed in big blocks, those subforums are seldomly used restricted working group areas, so people don't mind the additional click.
  11. I mean this, for the overall site. It only offers 7 fonts.
  12. I have been looking everywhere but did not find some way to customize this: On the index page of my website I have categories and within them the various forums are listed. However, some forums have multiple subforums. This leads to the pretty ugly effect that ALL of their subforums are also listed on the index page, creating some huge blocks here and there. Where can I customize that I only want to see the categories and forums but not also the subforums?
  13. For some unexplainable reason there is no simple option to add more Google Fonts. There are only 5-6 to select from. Or maybe I am looking in the wrong places ... Does someone know where to find the template or css or code which I would simply edit to add the fonts I want?
  14. Hi everyone, I've also asked support, but I may only get an answer in half a day from now and I am a bit in a hurry. Maybe someone in the forum can help: I have copied all the new 4.x files to my directory and am trying to run the update At one point it tells me: “Your community suite data or database configuration is saved in an encoding other than UTF-8. Before your site can be upgraded, we must convert the encoding to UTF-8.” So I launch the converter it appears to be doing some stuff once I click on the big blue button, then but after a few minutes it simply times out: Can anyone help me with this? Andreas
  15. I will need to upgrade from 3.x to 4.x as well, as my hoster is stopping PHP 5 as well as MySQL. Their new patforms will be running the newest PHP as well as MariaDB. However, how do I manage the upgrade unless the platform would support both at the same time?
  16. Hi everyone, I am forced to finally upgrade to Invision Board 4 as my hoster is going to remove PHP 5.x support and Invision Board 3.x does not seem to run on PHP 7.3 Which is fine, as I wanted to upgrade a long time ago. Unfortuately, my hoster is also removing MySQL altogether, replacing it with MariaDB. Does anyone have experience with running IP.Board 4 with MariaDB and if so which version and what are the caveats?
