I guess there is a difference between subscribers and mails sent.

I don't want to use the subscribers feature of Mail Chimp, just the unlimited emails of Mandrill.

Actually, I will have zero subscribers.

But more than 100.000 IPS members to send email to.

    Is my idea correct?

Or will I have to pay for 100.000 subscribers to send email to each one with mandrill and not use the Mail Chimp newsletter feature?

It looks like your cost will be at least $100/mo if you have under 100,000 members. $20/mo per block of 25,000 mandrill emails and at least $20 per month for mailchimp depending on if they only consider you having less than 1500 subscribers. That would be $20/mo for mailchimp if the assumption is correct and $80/mo for the mandrill sends. if you have 100,001 to 125,000 members you email it would cost $20 more per month. etc per block of 25,000.

Mandrill is no longer the best option for transactional email. Fact is, in my opinion it's a costly option now.

And the 20 bucks per month plan is ok? I don't need to use Mail Chimp for subscribers, I just need to send email through IPB. Is that correct?

You have to pay for a mailchimp account monthly 1st and then mandrill is $20 per block of 25,000.

    Mailchimp Account Start-up monthly pricing:

    Subscribers                          Sends                                    Price

    1,001 - 1,500
    unlimited
    $20.00
    1,501 - 2,000
    unlimited
    $25.00
    2,001 - 2,500
    unlimited
    $30.00
    2,501 - 2,600
    unlimited
    $35.00

So it appears minimum pricing will be $40/mo if you have under 1501 Subscribers.

  3. @stoo2000 ...here is something else you may want to look at from a discussion about what mandrill is doing. A lot of unhappy folks out there.

Fortunately when I've start to use Mandrill, I didn't build directly all my email service on top of it. Specially for webhooks that are very usefull. I've made a bundle to use them indifferently from various service. It's available here https://github.com/ScullWM/MailHookBundle and it supports Campainmonitor, Mailjet, Mandrill (sic), Mailgun and Sendgrid.

So the Mandrill Bouncer will work just fine with the recent announcement?

As long as you get a paid Maichimp account and don't mind the increased pricing for mandrill...I assume yes.

  4. Thought you might want to see an email from Mandrill I just received:

    Hello,

We're writing to let you know about some significant changes that will affect your Mandrill account.

Going forward, all Mandrill users will be required to have a paid monthly MailChimp account and verify ownership of all sending domains. Here's the timeline: Starting 3/16, all new Mandrill users will create accounts through MailChimp, and current Mandrill users can merge their existing Mandrill account with a monthly MailChimp account. Current users will have until 4/27 to merge their accounts.

    Why we're making this change

The MailChimp team built Mandrill in 2012 as a transactional email tool. Mandrill has always been under the MailChimp umbrella, but it has functioned as a completely separate product. Mandrill is now becoming an optional add-on to paid MailChimp accounts. This is a strategic change we're making to close the gap between the two products and focus on the MailChimp marketing platform. MailChimp is designed for marketing, and Mandrill is designed for transactional messages. Each is powerful on its own, and offering Mandrill as an add-on makes MailChimp even more powerful for our small business and e-commerce customers. Our CEO and cofounder Ben Chestnut wrote more about the changes on the MailChimp blog.

    What you need to know

The application's functionality and look and feel are not changing at this time. Here are the important changes that will affect your account:

    • Starting today, Mandrill will adopt MailChimp's Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy. These terms reinforce that Mandrill should be used for transactional email, and bulk email/email marketing campaigns should be sent through MailChimp. In addition, MailChimp's Privacy Policy, which has always covered Mandrill, has been updated. If you have any questions about our policy changes, please email legal@mailchimp.com.

    • To continue using Mandrill, all users will be required to have a paid monthly MailChimp account by 4/27.

    • All Mandrill users will be required to verify their sending domains and add SPF and DKIM records by 4/27. This is already in effect for new Mandrill users.

    • Starting 3/16, all new Mandrill accounts will be created and accessed through MailChimp.

    • Starting 3/16, the Mandrill mobile application will no longer be available for installation. It will remain functional for existing users until 4/27.

    • Our billing and pricing model is also changing. MailChimp will generate one consolidated bill that covers your MailChimp and Mandrill charges. Mandrill credits will be sold in blocks of 25,000 emails. Blocks will start at $20 per month. This goes into effect once your accounts are merged.

    • Any existing discounts, free credits, and free accounts will no longer be valid once your accounts are merged.

    What you need to do

    • If you already have a paid monthly MailChimp account, you’ll be able to merge your accounts starting on 3/16. We’ll send detailed instructions at that time.

    • If you don't have a paid monthly MailChimp account and decide to create one, you can go to mailchimp.com and do so at any time. You'll be able to merge your accounts starting on 3/16. We'll send detailed instructions at that time.

    • If you haven't already done so, you'll need to add SPF and DKIM records and verify ownership of your sending domains. Here's an article explaining how to do that. Starting 4/27, Mandrill will not send any email from unverified domains or domains without valid SPF and DKIM records, including public domains like gmail.com and yahoo.com.

If you don't have a paid monthly MailChimp account merged with your Mandrill account by 4/27, then your Mandrill account will be disabled.

If you have questions or need technical support, please log in to your Mandrill account and click Support in your dashboard. We've made support available to all users on free and paid accounts.

We know this is disruptive, and we understand that it may affect your decision to use Mandrill. Please know that we carefully considered these changes. The new structure will allow us to create more flexible products and better serve our customers. Thanks for using Mandrill, and we hope to welcome you to MailChimp soon.

The exact same place you already opened a ticket, that is mentioned multiple times in this top and in the file description. http://ipb.silvesterwebdesigns.com/index.php?app=nexus&module=support§ion=new&department=5 . There is infact a link to this very page in a reply to one of your posts, on this very page.

For the record, I fixed this particular issue on your site over 24 hours ago, despite you not contacting me in the proper manner (the ticket system sends me alerts when an issue is created or replied to). I also emailed you 3 times with further information about the issue and what was being done to correct it.

Maybe you should have a link to it in your signature? And thank you for the service. I didn't realize you had gone in and fixed things. Can I send again and it will be alright now?

I've re-opened your support ticket. I would really appreciate it if you could use the proper channels of support

Exactly what are the proper channels of support for you here on IPS?

We are almost totally throttled by mailchimp because you didn't make sure this was fixed last time it was an issue.

Now I am worried about members being able to get confirmation emails when they sign-up because of the email percentage of hard bounces being sent that should not be sent that make us look spammy and causing ISPs to cut us off or throttle us.

  7. This is bad Stoo... not going to help our mandrill reputation one bit with this type of stats from them:

    628Delivered
    1,051Sent
    59.8%Deliverability

Yes, the other 40.2% bounced because the hard bounces listed were still sent contrary to what you led me to believe.. I'm not happy with the performance of your system so far. Can you fix this?

  8. I can't seem to answer the ticket. You blame it on IPS and it did not occur on previous mailings. It didn't occur on the 1st mailing. It occurred after you updated the app. I am still getting them and I have a couple members who claim they are locked out and their email is fine and the notice they got was from some other members email.

    Capture-mandrill-error.thumb.JPG.be60d56

I am getting hundreds of these.

  9. Can you fix this issue please: This happened to me when I went in as another member and this also happened to

I have a pop up that says I need to confirm my email address. I have confirmed it and still have no email in my inbox. I have tried two different emails. since about 9 am today

I will be fixing his issue, but confirmation emails do not seem to be sent. Can you please check and fix?

  10. @stoo2000 I never received the reply with respect to the hard bounce issue not showing up for members who have hard bounced? I do not want to send them another email via mandrill because your system did not do it's job during the 1st send. Can you please let me know when it is safe to send out another bulk email to my members without worrying about the hard bounce emails being sent.

  11. I purchased and installed your Mandill Bouncer. I set-up our Mandrill account. Sent out the bulk email. Why is the Mandrill Bouncer not working?

We sent over 48,000 emails via mandrill. Key was provided. I then went in as a member whose email hard bounced and saw no notification. We are getting no stats in the Mandrill Bouncer except the spam complaints - Via the Mandrill Bouncer Statistics link in AdminCP.

everything required to be verified by mandrill was verified on mandrill as well.

I do have the webhook info as well. I was going to put it there for you to see.

    Please advise.

Also, when I go to your client area, it won't let me in. I PMed you because I saw you were here 20 minutes ago and didn't answer this problem.
