Daniel F reacted to Sonya* in Responding to the Contact Form
This is exactly the difference to the "anonym" social media, where nobody cares about you. If you do not have any "friends" or followers - you are alone there. In your community you can (should) care of your member, be personal, warm and hospitable. You will never manage to achieve it the same way in social media.

Daniel F reacted to opentype in Master your community's lifecycle to increase your growth
I always see it as a literal “evolutionary” process. I constantly try out new “mutations”, i.e. features. If they turn out to be beneficial, I might put more work into them and make them more prominent. If they do not work, I scale them back slowly (e.g. by first demoting them in the menus) and remove them eventually. There certainly is a danger in adding too much stuff. Not just in regards to the software conflicts you will get, but also in the way you confuse your users. I even have tons of “display:none” declarations in my theme to hide stock functionality. Often less is more.

That's why we've also implemented the email feature, allowing you to also receive emails

I was exactly in this situation a while ago, out-of-date softwares and server on a big community. Just because updating was a lot of efforts, and I always had bettor to do of the little amount of time I had. Then a server crash brutally accelerated the process, and I worked a lot to migrate on some brand new hardware and software, including migrating on Invision. All what you are saying in this article came true: better safety, better SEO, better engagement. Soon the statistics began to grow rapidly after years of stagnation (in particular on mobile), administration was much simpler and time-sparring, and I could enjoy developing much more complicated functions.
So, long live invision 🙂

That's depending on the app;)
While my initial testing I haven't noticed anything really concerning for members! The 3rd party developer environments will of course be broken, because we made several BC breaking changes to the code, which will result in php warnings, but they shouldn't be noticeable in live environments.
We've also prepared a topic with all important 4.3 => 4.4. changes for the contributors, so that they're hopefully able to port their code faster. The same was done for 4.3 => 4.4 theme changes

Daniel F got a reaction from The Old Man in 4.4: 6 New Micro Features
I guess @Adriano Faria @Martin A. and some others will be happy to hear that we've also cleaned up the code and provide now a clean way for 3rd parties to add own tabs to the club navigation 🙂
More information will be posted in a separate topic with the 4.4 changes for 3rd party developers 🙂

To be fair, our Guest Page Cache is using kind of the same approach as W3 Total Cache. You have to keep in mind that a blog is much less dynamic than a community.

Brilliant, really, really chuffed that you reached out to Yoast on this, experts in their field. Would love to see more examples of this.
I've always thought that Invision Community could do with an equivalent Yoast SEO and W3 Total Cache performance add-on to make life easier and assist with content authoring of news and blog articles.
I get chills thinking about IPS reaching out to Elegant Themes to bring Divi Builder to Pages!

Thank you! The ability to re-order tabs in Clubs has requested frequently by our club leaders. This is very exciting - not a 'micro' feature at all 🙂

Daniel F reacted to bfarber in 4.4: Extend Invision Community with the REST API
The members REST API endpoint specifically (this does not apply to other endpoints), allows you to set undefined member properties through the rawProperties request parameter.
&rawProperties[member_points]=100
