  1. They are both amazing pieces of kit @Kevin Carwile and you deserve an enormous amount of credit for both of them, they have absolutely transformed the way we use IPB4 and for me IPB should pay you a significant amount of money and incorporate these into the core so you can retire to a desert island and live the dream .... in the meantime I thank you for your flexibility in developing both applications. I have let you a review on the GC application back on the 29th April but it is still showing as hidden and not yet approved. Not sure who approves them, you or IPB but its there pending somebody seeing it

  2. Just by viewing a collab you become a member?

Ok, well... as you said, that should be possible with rules after I am able to add those actions to the ECA set that ships with GC. I only added the events to the latest release due to time constraint. Actions will be included in the next.

But you realize that if you set the group membership setting of the collab to be open without approval, anybody can join the collab just by clicking the join button. At that point, they automatically become an active member.

    Hi Kevin

Yes I get that they can simply join by hitting the join button and that is as we have it set up now but it is not obvious they need to join for example and when accessing via tapatalk it simply delivers a permission denied message if they try posting because collabs come up in VNC even if the member is not a member. I understand you said you were looking to enhance the VNC for collabs in the fullness of time but we would still want the flexibility of determining if content from a collab category should show in VNC if member has or has not joined the collab for instance so we can customise it perfectly with as much flexibility on a collab category basis.

In terms of the requirement to join without approval, that would work as would invites and approvals dependant upon the use, for example we are just about to introduce a clubs & hobbies collaboration category where the requirement to join would actually be perfect for however we have used a different category to segregate off certain aspects of our main forum to give a bespoke layout for those content areas so that category is actually part of the main forum, it is now just so much better with the flexibility GC brings however we want the membership of those to be seamless so I guess join on view with a not condition of if already a member of that collab as I could then add the conditions of if in a specific category and if in a specific group for example.

It would really work well for one aspect of our site.

Hope that makes sense and thank you for your response.

    Thanks

  3. Hi @Kevin Carwile

We are desperately trying to remove the need to join a collaboration so that it is auto join without having to make a request etc. I was hoping to establish this with ECA's for Rules by

    Event: Collab is being Viewed
Condition: Member is not currently a member of collab
Action: Add as member of collab

Or something similar. Is there anyway you could make the addition to GC on a per category basis so we can disable the need to join at all and that all members auto join on visiting the collar for instance or build the additional ECA's into Rules to allow this to happen as above for example.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

  4. Hi @Kevin Carwile

Here is one to see if it's possible as I cant work it out

Like you did with the Move to any Forum ID option to integrate collaborations, is it possible to have another field on a thread that is administrative that allows the directory to be searched for members so you can enter multiple members names that would re-direct those users from being able to view that specific thread to a custom URL?

    • So user A has been a royal pain in the but and we want to thread ban him from this specific thread.
    • We go to the first post in the thread, hit edit and an administrative field appears to enter member display names.
    • We then save that amendment.
    • When that user tries to view that thread moving forward they are re-directed to a custom URL (Which I will create to display a banned message to them in pages)
    • If their name gets removed from that field then they are able to view that thread again

    Many Thanks

  5. Hi @Kevin Carwile

We are effectively using custom profile fields to display additional badges on a members profile card next to their posts in threads. So if a member verifies their identity they get access to additional areas of our site, in doing that we adda  secondary group to their account which controls the access. We then manually toggle the custom profile field to on which displays a verified member badge on their profile card next to new posts.

  6. Hi @Kevin Carwile

    The rule I am trying to configure is as follows;

If a secondary group of X is added to a member (the way this secondary group is added is via nexus product purchase) then this should change custom profile field Y to the value of Yes (True) its a simple profile field of Yes/No

Which ECA's should I tie in to for this to happen please?

    Thanks

  7. Feature Request

It would be great to get some sidebar widgets for group collaboration to extend the two of latest and featured that focus on the content, latest topic on specific collaboration, latest posts on specific collaboration. Another would be current members of this collaboration.

    Many Thanks

  8. Hi @Kevin Carwile

Thanks once again  for the amazing support - its appreciated.

I have configured the rule for when members update their profile picture and it creates the topic. There is not a variable to link to the members profile that I can insert into the message. I have tried to build the URL as follows http://www.mysite.com/profile/member:id]-[member:name] however if i try using the variables in a url it does not convert them to the values.

If I remove the hyperlink I can paste it as plain text which display fine and the variables are replaced but the link is not clickable. Any suggestions on how to do this please?

    Thanks

  9. Hi @Kevin Carwile

I am trying to create two rules but unfortunately I cannot get either to work the way I want and wonder if you could advise.

    1. The first rule is to create a topic when a member updates their profile photo (not their cover photo or any other field in their profile - just the photo) I cannot quite get it to acknowledge just the profile photo, it seems it creates a topic overtime anything is updated.

    2. The second one is to create a topic if a member of a particular group (our moderators) has had 'no activity' on the forum for the last 30 days to alert me to this fact from a security perspective. I can set this one up so far with a scheduled action to create the topic in 30 days if the member is of a particular group but what I cannot work out is how to then delete the thread from being created by deleting the scheduled action. It asks for a unique key and I have no idea how this is determined.

Any help with these two rules would be perfect.

    Thank you

  10. Hi

I would like the ability for each of your TopContributor Plus and TopPoster Plus plugins (I have both installed) to be able to exclude certain groups from appearing in the list. My view being that staff and moderators often make lots of contributions to the forum but I would not want them to be considered so that this then becomes a member only facility.

Would you be able to add that flexibility to both please?

    Thanks

  11. Hi @Kevin Carwile - Appreciate this is my third request in a row but hopefully it will allow you to answer them all in one go ... :-)

We have launched this now on our site and our members are loving it, the thing they are asking for is for a way for them to identify if there is new content in a particular collaboration. I appreciate they can use the Global View New Content but things are difficult to identify in there if you are trying to filter down to a collaboration as thats not an option.

Is there a way to highlight which have new content, does view new content only show content for collaborations that they have 'joined' or all if they have view access to them all? Is there anyway that this could be improved to make it easier?

Previously we had all of the collaborations as individual sub forums under a main category displayed on the board index and if new content appeared in one of those areas then the forum would be highlighted bold on the board index. Because collaborations are now not controlled as individual forums that are available for display on the board index we have replaced this with a series of re-directs straight into the collaborations but because they are re-directs none of them show if new content is available by going bold. That will hopefully give some context as to what our members are effectively used to.

  12. Hi @Kevin Carwile

How would you suggest is best to provide a sidebar widget or an output etc of topics/posts from within a particular group collaboration category, not all categories. The sidebar widgets would be useful but they don't seem to cover a thread feed from collaborations?

Just wondering what the best way of implementing this is? I know I could probably do some cool stuff with Rules to create a news article in Pages perhaps every time a new topic is created and I could then use those news items created to form an RSS feed but it wouldn't link direct to the thread ... Im hoping it will be something fairly simple ....

    Thanks

  13. Hi @Kevin Carwile

    I would really like to see an expansion pack for Commerce, one where rules can be created based on;

    • product purchased
    • invoice status
    • account credit
    • transaction status
    • support ticket dept
    • support ticket status
    • support ticket severity
    • support note added
    • support reply added

That would really help us to link the purchase of a product, use rules to create a collaboration and create a support ticket to the member in order to help them set it up fully whilst being able to create an announcement on the forum and more. The options would be endless with this added to the excellent options already available.

    Thanks

  14. Well, you could move the forum out of the collab and then move the topic and then move the forum back into the collab if this is a relatively infrequent task you will need to be performing.

Otherwise, you could do some magic with my Rules App.

    • Add a custom integer data field to Forums Topics, call it "Move Topic to Forum ID".
    • Make it "administrative" so admins can edit it on the topic form
    • Add a rule that is triggered when the custom data field is updated
    • Add a condition that checks if the value is greater than zero
    • Add an action that moves the topic to the new forum with the updated ID value
    • Add an action that resets the updated ID value back to zero

    End Result:  move-topics-to-any-forum.xml

Topics will have a field called "Move Topic to Forum ID" that can be updated by administrators, and when an id is entered and the topic is saved, it will be moved to the forum with that ID. Rules are cool, eh?

    Kevin

The field is administrative so will only show to people with moderator permissions and above I believe. Is there a way within that rule code to specify certain usergroup ID's so say group ID 4 and 20 for example?

    Wow just WOW

  16. Currently, you must log in as member.

Next release is ready to go. I'll package it and update the marketplace this evening.

Thanks Kevin - sorry one last question for now as we are working through the configuration and the discussions is that whilst we can transfer a whole forum from the main ipb to collaboration, if we have a thread in the main forum that would be better in a collaboration for example, is there a way of moving that one thread?

  17. Click your user name in top right of page and then click the link for collaboration memberships. You can transfer it from there.

    Thanks

as admin do I get access to move all other members collaborations? Or would I need to login as that member and then move it?

  18. Yes, I recently noticed that too. I was previously supressing that core IPS behavior via my own code, but they made a change in the latest version that undid it.

My next release will contain a fix for that.

BTW, there will also be another option included in my next release to apply collab restrictions to owners to prevent them from specific collab management abilities. I know you were eager to see that functionality added.

That's fantastic - really appreciate that Kevin.

one practical issue as we are working through the configuration and the discussions is that whilst we can transfer a whole forum from the main ipb to collaboration, if we have a thread in the main forum that would be better in a collaboration for example, is there a way of moving that one thread?

    thanks

PS - what's the timeframe in the next release please as a rough guide in terms of our planning as this is going to be key for us
