SJ77 got a reaction from Ramsesx in Have we ended the aggressive release schedule for 4.x?
    Hi
Just wondering if we have ended the aggressive release schedule for 4.x in favor of focus on 5.x?

If so, I consider that a blessing as personally I dislike always falling behind due to frequent releases. Will be nice to have a break. Maybe we can just have bug fixes, and security flaws fixed as needed instead of forcing monthly releases.

    Just asking
    Thank you 😊

Been a few discussions from Charles and Matt here on the community stating there really won't be any huge new features for the 4.x line. However, we still will have monthly releases for at least the foreseeable future. Like now, there may be slower months than others, as the last three months of the year are typically a slower pace due to holidays and other items going on but there has not been an official end to the monthly release schedule.

SJ77 got a reaction from Traaginen in Buying new self hosted licence - how to choose few applications?
I have a license that I paid full price for a while back. I stopped renewing it because I never used it. I thought I was going to use it for something but it turns out I didn’t end up using the software for anything. I paid renewals for about a year or two but the software just say there not ever one time being used. It didn’t make sense for me to keep renewing it.

However, I like to think that if I ever figure out a use for this software, then I have already paid for it more than a few times over. It should be there for me to use and start paying renewals again.

I hate to think that I would have to pay full price for it all over again. 😣

We're experiencing this on our forum to, regardless of GD or ImageMagick being enabled and verified as running in phpinfo. This just used to to work but now photos taken on an iPhone in portrait mode uploads 90 degrees off, however the same photos uploaded to Invision's test forum are correctly aligned. Uploading the same photos to our forum from iCloud on a Windows PC also works.
I'm confused, any advise on where to start troubleshooting would be highly appreciated.

I still have the problem in two different communities running on two different InvisionCommunity versions (4.6.12.1 / 4.7.1)
EXIF installed (checked via PHPInfo) ImageMagick JPEG files (attached as ZIP file) Upload works fine here in the test forum, images are rotated by 90° when uploaded to my communities.
    Info in Mac Preview says:
    Orientation: 8 (rotated 90° clockwise)
    Any idea?

Yes, and no. Depends on when you set it up, if you have the old API available, and if they have decided its working on any given day. Unfortunately, its very inconsistent at the moment

SJ77 reacted to Nathan Explosion in Why is member search count different than member widget count? Which is correct?
The widget count is just a SQL query - it's not a figure that is recalculated as and when something is done:
/* fetch only successful registered members ; if this needs to be changed, please review the other areas where we have the name<>? AND email<>? condition */ $where = array( 'completed=?', true ); /* Member count */ $stats['member_count'] = \IPS\Db::i()->select( 'COUNT(*)', 'core_members', $where )->first(); Which is:
    SELECT count(*) from core_members WHERE completed = TRUE;
Got a tonne of validating members?
Maybe show what search criteria was used for the search result? (To be clear how you got there)

We have spent many  working on the application development tools for v5, wrote blogs about them, and answered peoples questions on them. I assure you they will exist in v5.

Just adding this here ^ as another example.

This is a BUG I am nearly certain at this point.

That button should not be allowed to fire off multiple account creation queries.  There is logic to handle this sort of stuff and a sign up button should not be having this issue.

It's actually a bigger deal for me because many of my users are customers and sometimes they end up in different accounts each time they log in, leaving them wondering where the content is that they previously paid for.

It's scrambling my data base and upsetting people.

I was able to reproduce on @RevengeFNF site

I also have a test site that runs on an entirely different server with NO TRAFFIC of any kind. It's a server dedicated for my test site only.  It's running 4.7.12 and no plugins and I was able to reproduce there.

That's 3 completely separated environments where I can easily reproduce this.

Did you use mobile?  Can you take another look?

There is no difference in the software for registration. Not to mention, I tested on communities of my own on both selfhosted and cloud 🙂.

As I wrote in the beginning, it happened to me too. I was registering the account as usual (not via the popup), and probably had to click the "Register" button twice. I was surprised too, but it's actually possible. This can be marked as a bug.

Mashing the register button as quickly as I could, I got met with an error that the email or display name I chose already exists so it sounds like something in your installation is either allowing this or slow.

Do you have anything third party which is interacting with user accounts in any way, shape, or form? Not that you couldn't have found some weird anomaly in our software but actions which violate the application's "rules" typically stem from modifications or oddities in hosting.

Is there any way to filter all users who logged in/registered via social networks? Or at least see statistics how many there are?
If I turn this functionality off, I would like to send them a newsletter before I do this.

Personally I would not try and upgrade a server, especially a VPS. I would start with a fresh/clean/secure server and move the site to it using the WHM transfer tools.

I have had upgrades go wrong over the years and odd unexpected issues months later from not starting fresh.

The problem is, without the current IPS scan/approval process of apps/plugins, any new development is a risk.  We also don't know how many iterations of scan/approval a given version of a given app had to go through to get final IPS approval, nor what those rulesets/barriers were for good practice per IPS standards.  We just know the end product from the Marketplace dev.  Now clients are subject to the intermediate iterations and any issues they expose.  This is particularly concerning when we get into PII and any level of security risk to our sites (which we had a confidence level IPS was protecting us from with their scan/approval process).

One potentially large gap is the validation and approval process done by IPS to guarantee the Marketplace developer's app/plugin aligned with IPS standards before it was approved for client download.  How will this be managed moving forward?

So for normal users like me, can i still do 'application upgrade' check? OR That process is changing as well?
If i understand - rather then purchasing renewals from IPS, i will be purchasing through developer site? So 10 developers, 10 sits for renewals? I am fine with it, as long as I can use add-ons on IPS forum.
Current IPS functionality doesn't cover all my needs and for us, stand alone forum would be non usable without developers fixing the gap/bridge.
