This wouldn't make sense and would probably be unhelpful in search as those posts attributed to a default single author would actually have been written by multiple people.
I think having no author details is the best thing to do with it.

AlexWebsites got a reaction from David N. in Subscriptions - Multiple Choices
Subscriptions have been available for some time now and offer a good way to monetize your community. It would be nice if each subscription had the option of multiple offers - time frame/settings. Most sites these days offer a discount for an annual subscription. In IPS, you have to create an entirely new subscription/box rather than something like:

Not a bug, just a suggestion to have a default “guest” author in the mark up.

If you delete a member and leave their content attributed to "guest", google webmaster tools for these urls will show you:

Not a big issue but maybe add a default user page for guest posts? Maybe a guest user profile/url, sort of "catch all". Just an idea.

We are not going to simply allow all our customers to never use Google Chrome again. 😅 That would be a terrible decision.
We will ensure it's resolved ahead of the removal later this year. We use an older plugin for jQuery to manage browser history state. We already plan to move that to native JS APIs in v5 and v4.

Suggestion - If you have a lot of blocks you have created over the years, it would be cool to see in ACP if they are being used or not (can they be deleted). I am at fault for having too many unused blocks...🤪

AlexWebsites reacted to sadams101 in Issue loading recaptcha js for mobile
I had to shut off guest commenting on my articles do to this issue...it was causing a huge delay on very single article page.
Is there a reason that Captcha needs to load first on every single page when guest posting is allowed? Since only 1/200 people post a comment on my articles that is 199 times Captcha did not need to load at all. Why not only load Captcha when people click on the comment field?

Just so I don't leave the situation w/o a resolution.

This was in my apache2 server configuration file.
    # prefork MPM # StartServers: number of server processes to start # MinSpareServers: minimum number of server processes which are kept spare # MaxSpareServers: maximum number of server processes which are kept spare # MaxRequestWorkers: maximum number of server processes allowed to start # MaxConnectionsPerChild: maximum number of requests a server process serves <IfModule mpm_prefork_module> StartServers 5 MinSpareServers 5 MaxSpareServers 10 MaxRequestWorkers 150 MaxConnectionsPerChild 0 </IfModule> # vim: syntax=apache ts=4 sw=4 sts=4 sr noet after I dramatically modified them to this:
    # prefork MPM # StartServers: number of server processes to start # MinSpareServers: minimum number of server processes which are kept spare # MaxSpareServers: maximum number of server processes which are kept spare # MaxRequestWorkers: maximum number of server processes allowed to start # MaxConnectionsPerChild: maximum number of requests a server process serves <IfModule mpm_prefork_module> StartServers 20 MinSpareServers 20 MaxSpareServers 40 MaxRequestWorkers 1500 MaxConnectionsPerChild 1000 ServerLimit 2000 </IfModule> # vim: syntax=apache ts=4 sw=4 sts=4 sr noet Server went back to blazingly fast.
In the end found out bytedance/bytespider chinese bots were killing the server w/o pretty much no warning or errors. In the end I have found a MaxRequestWorkers too low error.
Then I banned from a firewall bytedance/bytespider bots.
And now if I could only ban yandex bots I'd be a happy camper.

Yes DDR4. Your specs are unbalanced. You should check your RAM usage and definitely get a better CPU.
Who is your hosting provider, and what is the cost of this server?

I use webmin, set up with proxies, firewalled, and secured using ssh login. All said and done you can only access it from local host on a random port you assign. 🙂 security of your control panel is paramount. Especially when you use a free one.

    This CPU seems weak.
As for the control panel, I use one called CloudPanel.

    It's completely free.

I increased the InnoDB buffer pool size from 128M to 2GB (My database is 2GB) While there is an increase in RAM usage, I haven't observed any significant improvements in speed.
I'll test whether upgrading my server makes a difference. Please let me know if you have more tips for speed improvements with PHP-FPM, MySQL 8, and NGINX.

I don’t run near as much as you, nor popular enough. I mostly run private applications. Some that do require some power, but they aren’t IPS applications or a competing product. ( CYA there ).

As for OS, I prefer Ubuntu. Easier to work with, and has a wider variety of tools available. I’d like to think it would give you the freedom to employ any tool available to squeak all the performance you can.

IPS used to have a nice chat app a few years back. I do like this one and would agree, it would make a nice feature independent of live topics. Hopefully live topics doesn't see the same fate that IPS Chat did in terms of lack of usage.

Same thoughts. Looks great! Ads are a priority for me as well. I would love to see new and creative ways to monetize in v5. I don’t run any sites without monetization/ income, otherwise I would shut them all down.

Hard to believe with how widely iPhones are used and how much is accessed on mobile that we don’t have this as native support yet. I started this topic over two years ago…lol.

You won't be able to place ads anywhere on the Live Topics UI. The advertisement system has had an update for v5, but I don't think we've spoken about it much.

I think I spent more time making up fake adverts than writing about it.
