socceronly reacted to sobrenome in 4.4: Extend Invision Community with the REST API
Modern websites use node.js to load fast “dynamic static” websites from CDNs. It would be nice if we could run IPS with the most modern approach, like headless Wordpress. IPS should provide a different “theme system” for node.js, right?
When loading speed is more and more important, node.js should be considered, as long as most new projects are using it. The API is already available.

I'll be jumping into learning this stuff full time in January. Wow, it's hard to get a handle on all the different things you need to learn and where to start.
I am curious why, say with running Drupal as headless/decoupled they suggest running it along side NodeJs. Is that strictly for additional application functionality the CMS itself doesn't provide or is that necessary to make it work?
wrt to running a PWA or headless IPS can it be done with vanilla Javascript or js + react?
My plan was html/css -> JS -> React and focus on the front end using IPS as the back end. However, it seems node keeps getting thrown into the mix.
An example of the kind of thing I want to add to my site: A line up builder so people can create and post lineups in the forum or in articles.

You’ve gone this far, why not introduce a native newsletter feature which can be scheduled and tracked. 🙂 Love the new features but would like to remove advertisements per user group as mentioned.

Widget display settings
Why not add the ability that allow widget inserted in specific page or forum, topic whatever?

You can set the size of the thumbnail already. I always raise it. The default is way too small.
what is needed is a regenration feature after making changes to the settings.

From the point of view of managing subscriptions. So, the ability to disable renewals, upgrade/downgrade.
It would be awesome to be able to sell a product/subscription and manage them using the API.

When you are in an individual product, go to the Store Setting tab and scroll to the bottom. It is the second panel from the bottom.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Haven't been on the computer much the last few days.

Please do change Manage Purchase section. There should be at least sorting by purchase date or renew date or better a possibility to hide outdated, expired, cancelled and other products.

Would this work with spam services like Akismet?
If so, and Akismet kicks back a big fat no.....
...... can we make them fill out the most complex from ever devised?
Or one that on submit perpetually erases a field, bounces them back to start over.....

Some thoughts:
- the abandon email is a really smart re-engagement reminder. I give you +1 for this
- not a fan of the full page refresh to the registration form, I think the modal registration window is psychologically smoother and less of a hindrance
- why don't you offer social sign-ins next to email input for streamlined sign in?

socceronly got a reaction from Metor in We're now using Invision Community 4.3!
Just get it now.
4.2 is great, and 99.999 % of what you learn will carry over to 4.3
In fact you could run a great site and never use a single feature in 4.3.
