Unfortunately I never managed to get the install to start.
I'm currently using Invision Community v4.5.4.2 and PHP 7.4.33.
Attempting to run the update I'm getting the message that the update can't go ahead without PHP 8.0.
When I attempt another update I'll try PHP 8.0 rather than 8.1 perhaps that will help.
-
Thanks @Marc Stridgen
If I am able to update I'll check that. My problem is that I can't update at all haha
-
Thanks @teraßyte
I'll try PHP 8.0 and see if that helps, I just need to wait until after hours when there are less members. Perhaps that will work.At the moment I can't even update as it won't allow the update without PHP 8.0.

I had a weird thought, switch back to old PHP version, back to 7.4. My load averages have greatly reduced and I can now access my admin and website/forum. I guess I won't be using PHP 8.1 😟

Hi there,
First off I will say I have left the update for a loooong time as I always have issues with things not working after, plugins, themes etc
I've updated to PHP 8.1 and thought ok let's get this update cracking.
Update says I need to run two database queries which I attempted before proceeding. Attempted as the tables don't seem to exist. The automatic fix didn't work.
Now I can't login to my admin and my site is down. Logging into my server via WHM I see the load averages are extremely high. I've tried rebooting, killing the high load processes which seem to be the home page loading. I just can't get the load averages down low enough to access my forum.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get into my website, access the admin or anything that may help me gain control over the processes again?
Big thanks

Legend!!!👌

Thanks @Rikki I'll suggest this to them.
Note: The member is using Chrome, I had the issue on Opera so thought it may help point to something.
-
The member said he tried incognito mode and still had the same issue.
I know he's only one member and the problem is most likely something he is doing himself. I'm just trying to help this guy out as he is well known in our industry.
I'll update everything soon and see if it fixes the issue on his end.

Opera? Is that still around?
Haha I don't know if it used these days I just had it installed for testing at some stage so gave it a test. It turns out the member is using Chrome when receiving that error.

FYI he embedded a YouTube video.
In his post above he did but the video looked like an Odysee URL copy/paste.

Hey @V0RT3X666 Is that the latest IPB as my 4.4.1 install doesn't embed
Time to update I guess.
Just a test below of two different ways to copy/paste.
Copy and paste from Odysee share link

Update time!
I've checked other members, no login issues, I've checked Facebook login and no issues there.
I decided to check a few different browsers just to tick them off of the list of issues and BAM! Using Opera I get the same login issue as my member with his credentials.
I should note that I am using IPB 4.4.1 I haven't updated yet as there are usually issues and I want to make sure my addons, plugins etc are 100% compatible before I update.

It turns out they were trying to login with their Facebook account so this is probably a completely different issue.
It seems they finally tried to login with their username and password and it worked. I have no idea what they were doing before as I'd asked them to use the username and reset password over and over again. 😑
Thanks for your help @Morrigan it is very much appreciated :)

Thanks for the suggestion above @Morrigan
An update :)
The member attempted a login from the Homepage, apparently they hadn't tried that previously :S Logged in successfully, updated their password to a more secure password after I had reset it.
The member logged out then attempted another login and received an email saying they had been locked out due to 3 failed login attempts.

Hi everyone.
I have a member who can't seem to login. I know, this is going to be tough to troubleshoot from my end.
They say they keep on getting a wrong username/password error. I've reset their password and logged in myself perfectly. I asked them to login with their email and username to see if it helped, still no good. I thought perhaps there was some cached data holding onto an old login session so had them perform a hard reset, still no good.
I have Facebook logins enabled which they tried and still no good. Besides throwing their computer out the window does anyone have any suggestions to what we can try next?
Thanks :)

Currently I've turned off the warning messages/emails as they are coming in at a rate of 2 every minute.
I'm also receiving the following, should I worry about this?
Time: Tue Nov 10 22:10:04 2020 +0000 Account: accountname Resource: Process Time Exceeded: 418061 > 1800 (seconds) Executable: /opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/bin/lsphp Command Line: lsphp PID: 18764 (Parent PID:17805) Killed: No

Does the Excessive Resource warning below look ok?
I'm wondering if I should be changing any virtual memory settings or just the warning settings.
Time: Tue Nov 10 00:53:06 2020 +0000 Account: accountname Resource: Virtual Memory Size Exceeded: 578 > 200 (MB) Executable: /opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/bin/lsphp Command Line: lsphp PID: 13498 (Parent PID:18764) Killed: No

Found out how to get it to load, it was port 7080, opened it up in the firewall and bingo, I was in. Then found that the "Number of Processes" feature is only available in "Web Host Elite Version" 😭 It looks like I am set to 1 process anyway.

I see where the setting is in Litespeed, I'll try to get the WebAdmin Console to work for me.

Just in case go to Server Configuration > General > Number of Workers
Cool! I've tried to find the settings but can't seem to find them. Is this in Litespeed settings? My WebAdmin Console doesn't load for me for some reason.
Via WHM, Server Configuration > General > Number of Workers. I can't seem to find. I have Tweak Settings but still couldn't find the setting in there.

How many core do you have?
Hey @Steph40 Thanks for your reply. I had to check this one to make sure. I have 4 vCPUs I'm guessing that is 4 cores.
My server management skills are pretty low so will have to look into dedicating cores to specific tasks.
-
Thanks for the reply @Makoto At the moment I'm concerned about the warnings as my site has run quite slow in the past. It does appear faster after the update.
CPU: 4 processors (2.1ghz) 8ghz total.
RAM: 12GBThe memory seems to be getting used up but perhaps that is normal on this kind of forum.
I'm trying to understand the load averages. I believe the blocks represents the cpu core/s first being the past 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes. So 1.07 wouldn't be too bad I guess.
Also Opcache is installed and enabled

How did you update your PHP?
I am running my site on a VPS and don't have huge server knowledge by any means so I opt for the WHM interface over command line.
In WHM I went to Software >Easy Apache 4 and then installed PHP 7.4. Once that was done I deleted my older PHP version.
Let us know if that helps, perhaps you are upgrading with a different method.

Hi everyone,
I've had excessive resource usage warnings coming in a lot and have gotten used to it. Mainly with spamd.
After updating to PHP 7.4 the warnings are now constant, one or two every minute with lsphp now taking first prize in resources.
Does the resource usage in my screenshot look normal? If it is perhaps I can reduce the warning emails, if it is high, does anyone have any suggestions on how to lower the resource usage?
Thanks
Started an update (almost) now extremely high load averages!

Thanks @Marc Stridgen
I'll definitely try PHP 8.0 before updating. Like I mentioned above PHP 8.1 makes my CPU resources spike that much that my server is unusable and I can't update. Fingers crossed PHP 8.0 doesn't have the same effect.
