Good stuff, Matt. When I started using Pages it took me a while to get to grips with it. A video like this will come in very handy for other new users, I'm sure.
My main site's still under development and has quite a bit of Pages powering it. I don't want to link to it whilst it's still not ready but here's an example: a pronunciation database for language learners, powered by Pages:

For me the number one reason for members to subscribe is that they get access to discount codes for one of the largest outdoorshops in my country. I have had a discountcodes since 2013 that give them 20% discount on everything in that large shop.
And then I have an agreement with the outdoorshop that I get a percentage from what all the members are buying via tracking codes.
In that way I win in both ends. Members need to see that they gain something to pay.

I prefer communities without (external) advertisement.
The only real interesting part for me are the IPS subscription services which are highly customizable.
    My monetization strategy is
virtual currencies / points systems that integrate perfectly into commerce/downloads. It's a natural incident, that most customers never use/spend all their deposited credits, so the community wins all forgotten or expired credits.  better handling for transactions for digital products for european union customers/members, so we won't get in conflict with laws and tax regulation. Please help us expand in the EU and reach out for more paying customers. something like an IPS native "automation rules" / trigger systems, if event x happens then do y (f.e. send pms, emails, react, superlike...) the more you can target and engage your members (and add your own ads in there) the more will be sold. With such a trigger system, make it happen to generate personal vouchers and limited time offers enhance email marketing campaigns, introduce options for bulk email subscribers filtering, so we can entice more members to subscribe into bulk emails, award subscribers (with community benefits), disclose the opt-outs. As soon as you have a bunch of willing subscribers and good, valid emails, you have a very high chance to power up your conversion value. If you don't like (external) advertisements in your own community, but you already are a commercial actor, then monetization requires a different strategy.

I originally started out on vBulletin 2! Started making modifications for vBulletin 3 on vB.org. Very disillusioned with vBulletin 4, I was one of the first members on XenForo's bandwagon when that rolled along. Offered my services for vBulletin and XenForo for around 3 years freelance, started building my own forum softwares and also supporting the many free forum software such as PHPBB, MyBB and SMF with modifications.
At some point along the way I saw a tech support job at IPS, and had to go for it. Eventually I moved on to maintaining the free Converters, writing Single Sign On's and Managed Services dealing with some amazing clients here. The guys are great and it is still one of the favourite jobs I've had, and I still have fond memories of this place so I thought I had to share my own story. (PS, Lindy my mum still mentions your facebook chats )
I'm still building forum software and all sorts of other bespoke stuff as the lead developer with my own team of 6 very talented guys in a local digital agency, but I really did get my first "real" start here.

A good read! I originally used to hang out/post on some old car forums back in 2000/2001 and eventually got involved helping out as mod/admin. Back then it was Ikonboard 2.x and then the jump to 3.x. I then remember the excitement of IPB starting up and the first build of the forum back in early feb 02 I guess? I used to love the pre beta 1.0 skin. At the time I was working as an electronic engineer but good friends with the boss of a local IT/Software company who hosted the football forums for both clubs in the area. I eventually convinced him to take the leap from an old text file threaded board to IPB in 2003 as there were MSSQL drivers available back then  (big up the Wilzor!) - by 2004 I was working for the software company and have done ever since. So that's the job of the last 14 years thanks in part to IPB and then also I met my now wife through that very forum around the same time and we'll have our second child in July.  I probably owe @Matt a meal at Frankie & Benny s sometime.. its' been a while!

This is great, thanks IPS. I'll be buying Commerce soon for the subscriptions.
I still think having the 'one size fits all' approach with Commerce makes it a bit bloated. It must see odd to some how it covers hosting packages for example. Similarly, the physical goods and server hosting aspects are probably overkill for anyone wanting to facilitate ad management, or simple member subscriptions or paid downloads.
Wouldn't it be better and more flexible to have these variations as modular add-ons (you pick your preferred initial module from server hosting, physical goods or subscriptions when buying let's call it Core Commerce) and then having the extra optional paid bolt-ons that admins could add if needed in the future? Similar model to how IPS 4 brought us Core/Calendar and forum, cms, gallery, downloads and blogs. IPS and modding community could then create addition bolt-ons for various needs.
Re the hosting management, how does that tie in with creating CPanel accounts in WHM and WHMCS and eNom Domain reseller management? Is it a complete alternative or do you still need WHM and WHMCS, eNom?

For all of the fans who love clubs, here are some behind-the-scenes peek of Clubs in 4.3:

The new club index, featuring a world map of club locations.  I'm using the new "List View," which is great for a large number of clubs.  Notice how the STEM Club is "Read Only," which is the new type of club in 4.3.

Club Home features a standard "About" widget for basic information on the club, Activity Stream of all recent items, and map.  The club block in the sidebar is optional depending upon your ACP club settings.

Club Blogs featuring the new grid view and featured photos.

Club Files with a list of files like the normal IP.Downloads.  My first file "HD Kite Wallpapers" is actually linked to URLs for both the files and screenshots, which is an existing feature of IP.Downloads.

Club Images shows 2 albums.  You can upload images without assigning to albums too.  These albums can be linked into your Club's Calendar Event or Club Blog Entry for cross-integration.

Club settings showing the new Paid settings.  It costs $100 to enter my club with renewal fees of $100 every 365 days.  Kites are expensive.

Doesn’t feel like it actually. Asking someone whether one request from many that was not yet implemented makes that request “useless” makes no sense. Assuming financial interests as priority, just because one of the features implemented happens to be connected to Commerce is nothing but a bold assertion. You state it as it would be a fact. And paid clubs were indeed requested by multiple users.
Calm or not, it’s a terrible/dishonest way of arguing.

Superb update, thank you for these improvements! Nicely done!
I'd been holding back on enabling Clubs to one day bring in some possible revenue, so paid clubs is so welcome. You've clearly thought this out in terms of potential revenue for both site owners and members, great for member engagement and to give a little something back.
As many have said, Commerce just wasn't worth the outlay previously for just paid subscriptions only for many small communities.
Will there be any promotion available for Commerce (as 4.3 Clubs is bound to drive up demand!), will there be a more affordable 'Light version' of Commerce released supporting just paid subscriptions and Clubs or should we just buy now in preparation?
