  1. Thank you! Is there a way I can make a donation to help with the efforts?
  2. I thought there was a way to prevent all Caps in topic titles? I can't find that setting, if there ever was one? Thanks for the help folks 🙂
  3. Works now, thanks for your time Zayed. 🙂
  4. Will removing it kill my existing links?
  5. Thanks Zayed, I am using 1.4.7 I try to install the updated version but I get this error: The plugin you are trying to install appears to be installed already
  6. Hello, recently or for awhile, a strange url is showing up in our embeds, can you see this post here. https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/forums/topic/38817-masu-cup/?do=findComment&comment=309991 Thank you for any help and or direction. 🙂
  7. Whew! What an ordeal! Thanks for the follow up. I remember when I first got my community up and running I was installing all kinds of neat plugins, then I read somewhere it's best to stay minimum, so I stripped it all back, and I am down to about 8 plugins and it's manageable. I can feel your pain from here, all the way over here! So happy it's working as expected. 🙂

    A Wiki

Can these values be extrapolated? Semantically? Such as I have a form for automobile, eventually there are 200 automobiles entered into the database and one of the values is Engine Type. Would I be able to extrapolate Engine Type and display elsewhere? Thanks for your help Open.

    A Wiki

Great points all opentype. I really need to learn to use templates. I'd like some direction here, ultimately I would love to have a wiki using Invision. But I think my own ignorance and limitations of our software is holding me back. If I can ask for advice here in order to accomplish a goal. My goal, to have forms to use in order to create a page, within a category. The page created would have custom areas that are populated by the form that is used. If you know Mediawiki, you know the popular infobox style on every page. I love that feature. For an example, see this page for my favorite woodworker Sam Maloof. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Maloof I would like to have a form that will populate the infobox. So my form would have elements such as you see: IMAGE PLACE HOLDER Born: Died: Occupation: Spouses: Children: Relatives: And so on and so on. The page would be created with the infobox populated, and displayed, and the rest of the page would be open for freestyle editing away from the form. Is this possible? Or any variant thereof? Thanks in advance 🙂

    A Wiki

Good day folks, I know in the past, we've tossed around the idea of a wiki included in core software. And it gains speed and drops off for various reasons. But I sure would like to see a wiki somehow. I have an idea, I have been using wiki software for years, Mediawiki, Dokuwiki, TikiWiki are the main three. I have a wiki built off the Tikiwiki software and it's wonderful, but not user friendly. I have tested Mediawiki to great extent, and it's more streamlined that Tikiwiki, and the user interface is now much more friendly, specially since they added WYSIWYG for the less brave of users, eliminating the need for using wiki syntax made Wikipedia and all it's sister sites much more friendly, and open the door to a whole new user experience. I am working on transferring all my wiki research from my current software Tikiwiki, to Dokuwiki. Dokuwiki is the easiest of wiki softwares for users, plus it requires no database, all the information is stored directly in folders, so transferring a Dokuwiki is easy as copy pasting folders to another server, no database worries or woes. Why am I going into all this? Well, I have been playing with Dokuwiki and getting more serious about transferring all my wiki article off the Tikiwiki sofware and over to Dokuwiki. And to make things more consistent and more pleasant to the eye, I embedded my Dokuwiki instance into a page in our Invision community. If you are interested to take a look see here: https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/research/ My current wiki is here: https://thepatriotwoodwiki.org/HomePage This is the Tikiwiki software. I sure like the idea of having a wiki that is clean, simple to use, and has a vibrant support group. Again, one of the attractions of using Dokuwiki, is that all the data is stored in folders, so if the Dokuwiki team decided to not maintain anymore, you can easily move your information. But it's hardly likely that Dokuwiki would have an end, there are plenty of folks to carry the torch, and because it is so popular, its future is bright. So, my proposal, finally, perhaps the devs here could integrate the Open Source Dokuwiki, into core? It would be an optional feature, and why should the devs create a wiki feature from scratch when they can integrate a wonderful simple easy to use wiki platform like Dokuwiki? My Dokuwiki is embedded in a page titled "Research", so that looks nice. I loaded the software into a folder named "wiki" in the same public_html directory as my Invision community, so the appearance is that the wiki is fully integrated, but really it's not. Here is the true url of my Dokuwiki https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/wiki/start So in reality I have the same instance running, but two different places, I don't like that so much, thus my plea for integration. So, my proposal, finally, perhaps the devs here could integrate the Open Source Dokuwiki, into core? It would be an optional feature, and why should the devs create a wiki feature from scratch when they can integrate a wonderful simple easy to use wiki platform like Dokuwiki? There is one developer who has done just that, glFusion creator Mark successfully integrated Dokuwiki into their software as a feature option. You can see his wiki integration at: https://www.glfusion.org/wiki/doku.php He uses it for their main documentation portal. Thanks for hearing me out 🙂
  11. @Marc Stridgen, do you have a page location that breaks down the difference between the cloud platform and self hosted? Like a column of sorts with checks marked off displaying what one gets with self hosted, and one gets with cloud hosted. Thank sir I see this at: https://invisioncommunity.com/buy But it doesn't really show the difference between cloud and self hosted.
  12. I had an interesting question from a member of ours, he was asking why his attachments are not searchable. We understand you can go to "My Attachments" and filter and sort, but if you perform a search query in the search bar, it will not appear. If he names his image "widget_repro" and uploads it to a topic. And if he does a search for "widget" it will not show up. Is this because our images folder on our server is secured? Why can't a member search for an image they uploaded? Thanks for the schooling!
  13. Good day folks, I have an issue that has persisted for a over a month or so, I have not been able to promote to Twitter, my settings appear to be fine, but Our Picks, and simply checking the "Share to Twitter" check box below content does not work either, any help or guidance is appreciated. 🙂
  14. Just a little update, after turning on and off MOD SECURITY in my server settings per our host advice, and them looking into the possibility that something in MOD SEC could be causing this, and after we determined it wasn't MOD SEC, they dug in deeper and they found that: Kudo's to A2 Hosting, their responses to my responses were quick and they stuck with the issue till it was resolved, and thanks guys here for helping me out. 🙂
  15. Actually that's not true, just feeling a tad frustrated this morning, they are testing, just not seeing the same errors our members our.
  16. Thanks folks for the help, our host is testing it by replying to topics in our community, and they are not seeing the issue as it's intermittent, and not being of much help right now, do you have any thoughts or language I could use when I communicate with them next time to make a clearer case that it is a PHP parsing issue?
  17. Some of my members are getting this when they click on the "reply to this topic" area. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated, thanks! 18. Thanks, would be able to show a screenshot of what your customized email looks like? Or pm me? Thanks!
  19. Good morning folks, I have a question for you. What do some of you use for your email marketing software if any at all, such as Constant Contact, Mail Chimp etc. I would like to build a nice beautiful newsletter that we send out once a month to all our members, and contacts outside of our online community, and be able to see click maps, and other stats. Since we are a small community, 2500 members plus, our contact list including outside friends, is about 3000. I have tried Mail Chimp in the past and love it, it is very intuitive and easy to use, but I am just finding it hard to justify 35 plus dollars a month to use an email marketing solution like Mail Chimp or others. I tried using SendGrid but I just don't like their email marketing plan and I wasn't happy with it. I also cancelled SendGrid, and switched to using PHP for daily notifications, our server host doesn't seem to have a problem with that for daily transactions, but if I send Bulk Email using PHP our host sends a nasty letter stating they don't like that, so if I am going to use PHP, then I'll need an outside app to send our monthly bulk emails. Or, am I barking up the wrong tree completely and a simpler easier solution is there in front of me? Thanks for any feedback
  20. Well all be doggone @teraßyte, I see it now, it took a little while because when you save it, and just go back to bulk mail, it does not show at the top of the list, it shows in alphabetical order, not chronologically, or at the top. So all this time I could not find it because I was expecting to see it at the top, I found a dozen bulk emails with the subject line "Test" in alphabetical order. Ya, perhaps the UI could stand a little face lift, thanks for the info.
  21. Dear folks, at this point we are unable to save a newly created bulk email without sending it first. It would be nice if we could save draft, some of our emails can be involved and it takes time to create, such as a newsletter. Thanks for your consideration
  22. Good day folks, I love the word expansion feature in our community, the only issue I see with it is if I delete a word or acronym that I don't want linked in our content anymore, the html is still left in the content, would it be possible in the future to add an option for us to be able to strip html from content if a word or acronym is deleted at the Word Expansion portal? Where this option can come in handy, is if I owned a website that I am linking key words too, and I no longer own that website, or I change the domain, then I would be able to delete the word link in the Word Expansion, and or change the word link to direct to another website, also if I have key words linked to an affiliate program, and those links no longer are valid, than it would be nice to have the option to unlink, or delete the word from word expansion in turn stripping the html from that word throughout the community. Thank you for your consideration 🙂
