  1. You are trying to use spam prevention for access control which is not what it is design to do. You would be best doing this at a firewall or server level.
  2. Thanks for your feedback on this. We do not plan to make any changes to cache rules for visitors who are not logged in.
  3. Nothing is cached for members. Caching is only for guests/search bots.
  4. We believe in the power of an owned community. However, we also believe the age of "my community as an island" is over and it is imperative that community managers engage with the ocean of the wider internet rather than putting walls around their little islands. We made Community Hive as a step in the direction of allowing your community to be part of a larger network. With that same mindset, it is also why we are opening it up to other platforms. With the implosion of social media, now is the time to broaden your horizons and avoid putting up more walls. Community Hive is only one piece of a broader strategy we have that will take time to implement. IPS does not just view itself as a software company churning out a "ye olde forum script." We see ourselves as a community solutions company and solutions can take many forms. I posted this same message on Community Hive as it would be best to chat about Community Hive... on Community Hive πŸ˜‰
  5. When you encourage people to follow your site on Community Hive your users get a feed of our your community combined with other communities they are interested in. Your community gets more exposure the more engagement it gets. So it's a win-win for both you and the members. The members get one place to go to see activity from all the communities they follow and an opportunity to find new communities. You get push notifications, an email newsletter, search, and more without any cost. You also get exposure of your community to countless new people. All that said, I do not think Community Hive is a good fit for community managers who view their community as a walled garden where they own "MY users."
  6. Glad you were able to put the DNS entries back. For anyone reading this: be sure to keep the DNS entries we give you in place. If you keep them there, the certificates automatically renew and there are no issues.
  7. Hard to say without knowing how your custom app handles data. You might need to try it out.
  8. Yes, someday. I mean we don't have any v3s running at this point either πŸ˜‰
  9. I assume we would handle this just like we did for v3, v4.0, v4.1, etc. that have reached end of life. We generally give people a LOT of warning and then finally pick a date way in the future that they have to upgrade. We're talking years though. I am afraid I do not have a clear answer to give you on such specifics that are many years away πŸ™‚ As end of life approaches, you will get a lot more information on how to handle the upgrade. And, of course, by 2025 or 2026, v5 itself will be more mature. We might even be on v6 by then, who knows!
  10. In the next release of Invision Community (coming out in just a couple days) you will be able to add it. You can also do it on the beta release now if you’re feeling adventurous πŸ™‚
  11. Invision Community v5 is making huge progress. As I said, Community Hive's development team is not the same team that is improving Invision Community. So no need to be concerned πŸ™‚
  12. I’m so sad you’re looking at a useful service through such a negative viewpoint ☹️ If you have questions about Community Hive, feel free to post on https://talk.communityhive.com. The team making Community Hive is not the same team that is working on updates to Invision Community.
  13. Thanks for letting us know you’re interested πŸ˜€
  14. We do not have any plans to bring Live Topics to Beginner or Classic plans πŸ™‚
  15. Live Topics is available on Creator package and up. It's not available on Beginner or Classic (self-hosted) plans. Feel free to contact us to discuss changing plans.
  16. Feel free to post on talk.communityhive.com with any suggestions you have
  17. Go to https://communityhive.com not www. The next update will force redirects from www. to just the root domain.
  18. There is a topic on https://talk.communityhive.com about languages.
  19. Happy to discuss that on Community Hive πŸ™‚ https://talk.communityhive.com/topic/11-multi-language-support/
  20. Best to post Community Hive specific questions on https://talk.communityhive.com/ πŸ™‚
  21. You activate Community Hive in your Invision Community AdminCP. Once you do, you can then go to Community Hive to set your categories and indicate what age-group your community is targeted for. You can also control what types of content is shown on Community Hive. Community Hive is designed to send traffic to your community. It does this in a few ways: Content is only shown as a snippet so visitors must go to your community to read the full content. There are algorithms in place to learn what is popular and move it up your feed. Following your community on Community Hive does this via sending a visitor to your community first. This allows you the opportunity to capture the visitor to become a member on your community. If they are not ready to join, they can also follow anonymously. If they join later, they can link up their existing Community Hive account. Visitors cannot interact with your content on Community Hive. They have to go to your site. Happy to talk about Community Hive's integration with Invision Community here. But, if you have questions about Community Hive in general, please visit https://talk.communityhive.com to discuss.
  22. I would agree a view count is totally irrelevant. Trending over X period of time is way more useful. But I don't think we can remove view counts as some people get very obsessed with such things πŸ™‚
  23. It only shows if you enable Community Hive on your own community.
