bfarber reacted to opentype in Commerce: deactivate product copies
When I add similar products I use the useful “Copy” function in the ACP. Problem is, that the new product with the name “[product name] copy” instantly becomes available in the shop, even though I haven’t actually configured it yet.
I suggest that the copy function creates each copy with the default status “deactivated” instead of taking over the status from the copied product.

We don't have any agreement with Sendgrid. It has simply been implemented for a longer period of time.
There is interest in SES integration (although you can already use SES via SMTP presently anyways). I think the main catch is that they have stricter requirements for handling bounces which would necessitate new functionality being built in, not just slapping in another email gateway and calling it a day. That said, we're monitoring feedback/support for topics requesting SES integration.

I would suggest checking out their website, likely answer your basic questions. As we've installed everything for you in the base software, you just basically use the HTML wherever HTML is accepted in our software.

I find it would be very interesting to have a live webinars provided IPS on dedicated topics (say 4.5 themes, 4.5 Pages etc.) including a space for Q/As. I would really benefit form being taken through various hidden corners of the IPS apps. The resulting videos could be made available here for offline watching and for technical support reference. Great for team bonding too :) What do you think?

bfarber got a reaction from media in Anyone has an idea why PHP output this gibberish text
The most common reason you would see this is due to broken gzip encoding.
One common cause is something in the script printing or echoing content (which can happen easily if, for example, there is whitespace in a PHP file before the opening PHP tag or after the ending PHP tag) before the actual page content is gzipped and those headers are sent to the browser.

Yes, the post content must be included (or rather, something must be included as the description element). There is no option not to include it.

Submit a ticket for technical support and we'll do our best to help you get the site working again.
Backups (that work) taken prior to major changes are always recommended for this reason.

bfarber got a reaction from evcom in Autofill textarea fields
Generally speaking, textarea fields are not autofilled by most browsers. This isn't specific to our software. <input> (and <textarea>) HTML form elements have an autocomplete attribute that can be applied to turn autocompletion on or off, and we do not set this property for most fields, including textarea inputs (so it will default to on).

It wouldn't be too hard to create a plugin to add support for this leveraging the GMagick extension.
I don't think we would add native support in the software unless there was some level of demand, however.

If you are getting update notifications for 4.5.0, then you must have the constant previously referenced in your constants.php file. Beta releases do not trigger the "update available" banner otherwise.
I would second the suggestion to submit a ticket. You should not need to uninstall anything in order to upgrade, and you should be able to update your existing resources post-upgrade as needed.

bfarber got a reaction from Claudia999 in Spam Defense info
We do not publicly disclose how spammers are identified because it would only give those who wish to circumvent the protections more information as to how to go about it.
We use information from many sources (Stop Forum Spam, SBL, etc.) as well as Invision Community installations that report back to the spam service to devise a score that represents the probability the user is a spammer. As with any system, there can be false positives. You can either work with the user to register their account (i.e. manually from the AdminCP to "pre-register" the account for them), or you can submit a ticket and we can take a look on our end and make a determination as to whether or not to remove the block against the user. Unfortunately, however, we can't really get into "how it works" outside of that.

Used Invision Community in the Cloud for 3 months before we had to cease operations for our business.
I would like to leave good feedback for Rhett, their Support and Cloud Manager. He was the one who answered almost all my support requests in a professional and prompt manner. Hats off to him.
Will use Invision Community again for possible future endeavors.

I haven’t said anything about “widgets” or “record feed”. The layout is not a widget. It’s a template for a database page and the setting I mentioned is in the settings for the database.
