  1. I have tested with 0.9.7 (it does not work properly without some minor modifications) and 0.9.8 (the only version IPB officially works with). I don't believe I've tested 0.9.9 yet.
  2. Whoa, calm yourself a little. I never said you chose what character set to use. It's a setting in the ACP, and in older versions defaulted to an English character set. It now defaults to utf-8 for new installations, but you can't simply change the setting (character sets don't work that way). You simply used what the software defaulted to, that's all. There's no blame to place here. As for Google finding your page, I can assure you that Google does not use the url alone to determine how to find your page. Google does not say "this page has "abcdef" in it so that's the only keyword that will pull it up". If it did, you'd never be able to find an IPB 2.3 site in Google, which is certainly not the case. At the end of the day, the suggestion isn't a bad one, or a difficult one. I was merely replying to your "bump" (that you made only an hour after posting the suggestion - give people time to reply) as to why this may not be an issue for a large number of customers.
  3. For users that use UTF-8 this wouldn't affect them. *Most* of the replacements are relatively standard accepted transliteration replacements, which is why there aren't too many people that this affects.
  4. That's something that can be done (would be nice, though I'm not sure how well we'd be able to handle that ourselves, as we're not going to go out and buy multiple mobile phones and contracts just to create the skins ;) ) however it's different from actual phone-based applications.
  5. See, it's difficult to figure out the best way to handle something like this. ;) If we made YOU submit the app yourself, I'd imagine that would be a headache for most admins. I believe Apple, for example, has some sort of fee to be able to submit apps, some sort of application process, etc. Then if there was a bug, we'd have to distribute the updated app to all our customers who would then in turn have to submit their app to the app store. Could get to be a good wait to get updates out there. On the other hand, it's not quite as "clear" to a user the purpose of downloading a generic "IPB Interface Tool" from the app store, and then manually put in the url to your board. Most general users don't know you run IPB, etc. etc. so it wouldn't make as much sense as downloading a "MyCoolWebsite app" specific to your site.
  6. While that might be his ultimate goal, his request is to be able to copy permissions from one group to another when he's updating the group.
  7. If you can access the IPB resource forums on this site, you should be entitled to access IPB sections on the resource site. If you haven't already, try logging out and back in (as that is when permissions resynchronize) and if that doesn't resolve the problem, submit a ticket.
  8. You should submit a ticket if you require support.

    Documentation

As I recall (though I'm not known for my memory). Mind you, it was on a contract basis (they didn't do it out of the kindness of their hearts  ).
  10. I assume there is a similar (though slightly more open) distribution model for palm pre, and we'd have the same issues, no?
  11. We'd love to do that, but you have to understand that we're in a different model than Facebook or Twitter. Facebook/Twitter are individual sites. They can create applications that directly interface with their site and distribute those applications through appropriate channels. What you would want is for us to make an application that we can distribute that your members can use with YOUR site. It's a lot more difficult to do that. It's something we're investigating, and would like to address, but there are challenges. For instance, if we made an iphone application, it's not like we can give that application to you so you can distribute for your members. It would need to be distributed through the Apple App store. Either we'd need to give to you with instructions how to tailor to your site (e.g. how to customize a configuration file so that the application points to your specific forums, etc.) and you would need to distribute it through the app store yourself, or we would need to distribute some kind of generic "IPB application" through the app store that users could download and configure to point to their favorite forums. It's a bit difficult coming up with a proper distribution model to handle this, basically. I assume most other cell phones are similar.

    Documentation

In the meantime, there is inline help throughout the majority of the ACP that answers questions about each individual page. I'd urge you to make use of it, as I think it will help you with most of the new stuff. The detailed PDF was done by a third party, as I recall. I am not positive when an updated copy will be available. Brandon D got it to export last night. But there are problems with some of it that I need to go through. I'm hopeful I can get things cleaned up and maybe have a copy of the phpdocs up next week, or the week after.
  13. We can't make any promises on that yet, but it's something we're working on.
  14. Well, I suppose we COULD have held up the IPB 3.0 release for the relatively small minority of customers who use subscription manager. However, I think the majority of our customers are glad that 3.0 has been released, minus a feature that is being released separately. Subscription manager is nearly done. MSSQL is in development. We simply decided to concentrate on the functionality that the majority of our customers need, and hold up ever so slightly the functionality that only a minority of the customers use (but takes a while to develop). We can't really say anything else about it at this point, nor am I sure what you would like to be said. It's in development. It's almost done. The past is done with, and we can't go back in time to hold things up to include the subscription manager.
  15. I've already added this for 3.0.2.
  16. hotlink protection really isn't an IPB feature. It's Apache functionality that anyone can setup (static html pages, or web applications, doesn't matter).
  17. You can ban through the warn panel already, which has the added benefit of logging the action.
  18. Can you clarify what it is you want to know? Are you wanting to setup Sphinx, or are you trying to integrate a third party solution with Sphinx? sphinxTemplate.php is used to create a template for the sphinx config file (so that IPB can properly build it to support all of your third party addons). If you are wanting to setup IPB to use sphinx, there's an article on the resource site: http://resources.invisionpower.com/index.php?appcomponent=cms&module=articles&article=7813

    Documentation

People are frequently asking for "documentation" but not specifying what they want to see documented exactly.
  20. There wasn't a specific reason. We didn't look through features hunting down some to remove. When the search system was overhauled, the dropdown was simply forgotten about.
  21. Thank you for the positive feedback. :)
  22. As Josh already pointed out in another thread, this functionality will be back with 3.0.2. @Speed Racer - no need to ask (or tell) us to listen to our customers. We always listen. :) That doesn't mean we can always do what someone wants when they want it, but I assure you, we always listen.
  23. This isn't a bug. It's not a malfunction of the software code. That's why I asked him to post it in the feedback forum.
  24. He's saying the title (in the browser title bar) isn't consistent between certain pages. Some have "board name ->" in the front while others do not.
  25. I think it's a good suggestion. I can imagine addons that might need to do something when a user logs off (maybe store data from their session back to a log table, for example).
