Of course everyone is allowed. Opinions are the source of a good discussion, specially when they oppose each other. You don't like the white spacing as it is, it is a perfectly reasonable opinion. I like it and i think this theme is a nice improvement over the previous one - also a perfecly reasonable opinion.
Now, i wouldn't like the white spacing to be reversed or shrunk. First, because i my opinion is exactly opposite (fair enough, i guess 😄 ), and second, because there is not any objective data to support the opinion that shrinking the white space would improve the interaction.

Yes, but Google also frowns on content being too close to each other in mobile, for example. There is always a compromise that needs to be achieved...

I see too much criticism here for the theme and the white space. UX is always a matter of discussion, and everyone has its personal tastes. Now try to put personal tastes aside, because everyone has his own ones.
Do you have any UX test metrics other than "i don't like it" to present to support your views?
My opinion is, this new theme is  great improvement over the previous one. Is it perfect? No, specially mobile-wise topic page navigation (you have to completely scroll down or up to move to next page, which is not user friendly, for example - surely this can be measured) but regarding the white space, i like it. It helps the text to "breath", and allow better reading. It doesn't bother me at all. My personal taste here, as valuable as anyone's.
This is not a challenge of "how much content can be put in the screen". Simplicity is beautiful. Crowded interfaces confuse users.
Thumbs up for the overall improvements that the IPS has put in the 4.5 theme. I could not use the 4.x theme directly without customizations, but 4.5 theme is good enough for it.

@Koper74 I agree - Clubs should be expanded to include Pages and everything else required to allow clubs to be "sub-sites" from the existing site if required.  Right now, Clubs forums and blogs can;'t even be included in feed widgets, which is pretty lacking IMHO.

Rikki just answered you and dealt with it extremely well by answering your question and did listen and explained why. One reason I've been with IPB for this many years is because of their open design instead of bunching everything too close. this isn't the 1990's.
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it needs fixed. Obviously by Rikkis answer it's WAI.

Yes we do, and I think it's just fine and so do many many others.

In 4.5 we've tried to keep headers consistent, so that buttons are where you expect them to be, there's space for additional buttons as each page/app might require, and so that each page/app can extend the data shown in the header without the whole thing breaking down. In 4.4, this was a problem - sure, on perfect example pages, the follow button worked well in the top right. But using a different app where more buttons need to be shown, or even just having a long topic title, suddenly it wasn't so pretty and usable. The new header is designed to be flexible and extensible according to requirements.
It's pretty easy to take one particular page and find criticisms - but remember we are designing a suite where each page might have some shared functionality and some unique functionality. We have to design components that can work well in more than one perfect scenario.

I wouldn’t expect that before IPS5 as they already said it would require a rewrite of the FURL stuff. But Lindy said (here in this topic or elsewhere, couldn’t find it) that wasn’t the goal to work like that so it may be removed at some point.

Ok so I've found a way around this, but it's more for advanced users. @forumdev99, this should work for you:
For FORUMS: Find the folder public_html/applications/forums/
Open up the furl.json in your chosen editor (I use Brackets). Inside this file, you should find the following code:
/** * Friendly URL Structure * * For each value in the $furl array: * The key should be the "SEO Template" - an identifier which you'll use when displaying a URL. * The value should be an associative array with two or three elements: 'friendly' and 'real', and optionally 'verify': * 'friendly' * The friendly URL to use - encase variables in {curly braces} containing a symbol, followed by the name of the parameter that matches in the "real" URL * The symbol should be # for numbers or @ for strings * For example, if the "real" URL contains id=XXX, where XXX is a number, you should include {#id} somewhere in the friendly URL. * You can also use the tag {?} for the "SEO Title" (that is, any variables that shouldn't be part of the real URL, such as the name of the topipc being viewed). * If you want to support more than one SEO Title, you can give them zero-indexed keys like so: {?0} {?1} {?2} * 'real' * This should be the base of the real URL. You should not include parameters which will be parsed out from the friendly URL. * 'verify' * This should be the name of a class that contains a loadFromUrl() and an url() method. The dynamic URL (i.e. app=core&...) will be passed to loadFromUrl(), and the url() * method will subsequently be called to retrieve the correct URL, ideal with ActiveRecord pattern classes. * * IMPORTANT: Ensure values are listed with the most specific ones first. This is to ensure that non-FURL redirects are done correctly. For example, if you have these FURLs: * /index.php?app=myapp&module=mymodule&controller=mycontroller&do=myaction -> /myfolder/myaction * /index.php?app=myapp&module=mymodule&controller=mycontroller -> /myfolder * They must be provided in that order, otherwise the former will redirec to /myfolder/?do=myaction rather than /myfolder/myaction */ { "topLevel": "forums", "pages": { "forums_rss": { "friendly": "forum/{#id}-{?}.xml", "real": "app=forums&module=forums&controller=forums&rss=1" }, "forums_forum": { "friendly": "forum/{#id}-{?}", "real": "app=forums&module=forums&controller=forums", "verify": "\\IPS\\forums\\Forum" }, "topic_copy": { "friendly": "topic/{#id}-{?}/copy", "real": "app=cms&module=database&controller=topic" }, "forums_topic": { "friendly": "topic/{#id}-{?}", "real": "app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic", "verify": "\\IPS\\forums\\Topic" }, "forums": { "friendly": "", "real": "app=forums&module=forums&controller=index" }, "topic_create": { "friendly": "submit", "real": "app=forums&module=forums&controller=forums&do=createMenu" }, "topic_non_forum_add_button": { "friendly": "startTopic", "real": "app=forums&module=forums&controller=forums&do=add" } } } The things to change here would be the "friendly" parts. For instance, to change it from yoursite.com/forums/ to yoursite.com/forum/, replace "topLevel": "forum".
This is in the same location for -all- installed applications. After reuploading the file to the same place, you will need to run "Something isn't working" in your "System -> Support" page. After that, you can edit or install language files to deal with the rest of it.

Can i suggest to add (in the future) Packages which will include not «days» but the "amount of ads"?
It’s ok when user want to sell a few items from his stash - it’s free for them.
But we see that shops owners start to place their product – it can be tens of adverts. So - they gain their profit, and site owner - don’t.
So it will be great if we can set Packages in this way (or smh like this):
    1-5 adverts per month - free 6-20 adverts per month - 10$ ... Unlimited – 50$

I presume like many many others, I have a test/development copy installed on my local PC using xampp. Here I do all my testing and development of any changes to suit my live site first. I have this development/test environment for unit, system etc testing, I have a pre-production test environment on my live dedicated server for integration etc testing and then I have my live production environment. Nothing, I mean NO ADDONS, NO TEMPLATE CHANGES etc gets to a pre-prod environment until it is completely tested on my local PC first...this is the way I am sure even IPS do it. So why in hell can't I download and test addons etc in my development/test environment on my local PC...why has IPS stopped this with v4.5 especially when everyone is developing and testing v4.5:

It seems like as IPS progresses further it becomes even more frustrating to use...it seems along with other licensing things IPS is trying their hardest to drive people away from IPS and straight over to Xenforo who make it easy to create what you need and manage your installs.

I don't think it's the issue that you can't point to the marketplace. It's the issue that you can't download and inspect the packages directly from IPS any more. There's now a requirement that the test install have internet access and that you install things before inspecting them, and for localhost installs, you can't install and test applications and plugins published by the community (without a roundabout process of installing in test and then extracting the resource).
For many communities, plug and play is probably just fine. But it's not serving the needs of those clients that have more stringent policies or requirements that they follow in the development lifecycle. Now, there's an extra step of using a test install to acquire files rather than being able to download and inspect them as before (or put them in a virtual localhost environment).
The IPS marketplace should have a download button for 4.5 resources, and have its current integration as well. Go install from your ACP, or download here. That would be ideal.
Just to add for context, we've purchased, downloaded, and installed a few applications and plugins from IPS Marketplace that, when tested in our local environments, we quickly identified conflicts, issues, and breaking changes that would degrade our member experience and/or simply not work at the scale of a community the size of ours. We identified issues that would have otherwise taken down our production copy and/or production installs due to things like altering the core_members table rather than having an application/plugin specific table. Whatever checks of things (if any--I'm not sure) happening at IPS, they're insufficient for our needs, and we have a duty to our stakeholders to test things and ensure they're ready for our environment and configuration.
This change is an obstacle to that process. We have a workaround, yet it's needlessly causing us to install things in test and have to revert that environment after the fact when our workflow of installing in a local dev first and doing comparisons was much preferred.

As recommended, I'm creating this topic to reinstate the option to download files manually from the Marketplace.
It's bad enough you don't allow the download of apps we purchased when our licence has expired. But, to completely change the way file downloads are handle is a little much.

Please don't get me wrong, I love the idea that we can now do it all with ACP, but you shouldn't disable/change the way that a lot of us download files for localhost setups to test our sites before going live.

Please, please, please allow the option to download files manually like we've done for so many years!
