    Matteo,
You have some options! If you are not on 4.5, make sure you install the following extension (this is built in to 4.5--make sure you have Captcha setup):
Additionally, you may be able to filter spam at your mail server before it's parsed by Commerce. Using something like sendgrid integration will give you an option to filter for spam.
We've been successful at eliminating it entirely (except for those spammers that directly are filling out the contact form with a human, but these are far and few between), and we have very well known e-mail addresses on a very large community that has been online for decades.
Edit: Almost forgot, we also parse our e-mail through GSuite (or whatever it's called nowadays). Emails are received and then forwarded to sendgrid before being imported into Commerce, with the advantage of Gmail's spam heuristic filters kicking in as well.

    MANY THANKS DAWPI
This option worked and brought our site back. GOD BLESS YOU.
ITS A SHAME HOW IPB SUPPORT "TRAINED" TO POINT FINGERS ON EACH OTHER THAN HELPING ITS TROUBLED CUSTOMERS.
I got a nasty email from Marc, that this theme is customized and hence we cannot support.
Where as we are using 100% stock them and not a third party theme, truly dissapointing.
If @DawPi frequent contributor can figure out the cause from these screen grabs, then support should have done too by having whole backend access.

Hello, this isn't a " flippant attitude" at all, please don't take it that way.
This topic has been covered several times however, and management has made the decision that this alert will not be removed, we show this for security and the customers best interest in mind, we are not being selfish, we are not being flippant, and we are not being pushy with this recommendation.  If third party items are holding some back from upgrading, perhaps they need to evaluate how much value that item is brining to the community if it's forcing them to remain out of date.   That isn't an item which we can answer for you though, that is your decision.
With that said, there really isn't much more to add to this topic, so I will close this up.  If anyone has anything further to add on this subject and you feel it's something you want addressed that hasn't been converged already, please submit a support ticket under your account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I'd suggest caution - this kind of flippant attitude toward the customer base is why people seek out alternatives. Even if those alternatives aren't as robust.

Come on guys, Invision is never going to please us all. And even if they adopted granular ACP theme adjustment tools same as Xenforo has, we'd still need to sit back and adjust dozens and dozens of margin, padding, line height and similar parameters to suit all of our individual tastes. And then you have the menu, which in my view should be docked in an object that can be bound to the DOM either on the server or in a CSOM. But, even if Invision did that, we'd still need to position it ourselves, and move it around depending on the app currently in use. So I say, be careful what you wish for as even though I'd like to see pages that are rendered a little more tightly and menus that break from the current paradigm, you can bet if Invision did that, we'd still be back with another set of demands next month.
So how about we get together, put our hands in our pockets and see if we can find a designer come dev to create a configurable theme for us - and I mean a theme, not a (wanit in green, blue, red?) skinning exercise. It could include all sorts of presets including spacing, fonts, menu positions and so on, including specifics for desktop and mobile. Won't be cheap, but at least at the end of it we will have something we can use to give us what we want, rather than assuming Invision can pull a theme styling rabbit out of the hat which is going to miraculously please us all. I just don't see it.
Of course, Invision are more than capable of doing this themselves. But a bit a string only goes so far, and if they do this, then all the other stuff we need like video transcoding (ok I need that 🙂 ) will get pushed to the back of the queue.
So how how about it? Put our energies into something creative?

If righ now someone can share the solution to implement the permiss on I would like to give a try.
There contain an option "User can see topics posted by others users", it is ok for topics with privacy, but the forum still be accessible for members.

xtech got a reaction from Fast Lane! in How to Shut Off Admin Upgrade Notice?
The message is extremely annoying. I believe this is deliberate to force users to upgrade, but they can only do it if they have any active subscription.
I hope you (IPS) understand that you cannot force upgrade throat down on the people. Admins are not willing to keep upgrading every minor update, they have more things to do.. like running their communities. Other times they depend on 3rd party apps that don't get updated so soon. Please be Nice to your customers and allow the notice to be dismissable. You can remember the user from time to time (it can even appear every time we log in to ACP, but please make it dismissable), but nagging the users like this, with a non dismissable message that takes 20% of the screen just shows a total lack of respect for your users and clearly shows you want to force them to do something.
Yes, yes... I know... Security reasons, updates and whatever... we all know that, nobody is stupid. Everyone knows the risks of not upgrading, self hosting admins have enough knowledge of that.

Lets be honest and straight to the point: at the end of the day, we all know that the main reason for annoying the users like this is to keep the money flowing in. We are fine with that, that's why we are buying and keeping licenses with IPS. But...
    ...stop bugging your customers.
We can easily defeat the message with some template editing or browser script, yet as a matter of principle, please respect your customers by giving the users the options to dismiss the warning.

This notice is there for a reason, it's simple to remove and all automated, just upgrade!
If you can't upgrade for some reason, we would recommend you find the cause of that and resolve it so you can.
We do not allow code or plugins to remove this item though.
It's in your best interest to be on the latest version for your security, peace of mind, and to ensure upgrades go smoothly.  Skipping many versions can often cause unneeded issues when you do upgrade.

xtech reacted to evcom in Trying to understand Bulk Mail Cycle
@xtech From my perspective, the feature mentioned by you would make sense. Many SMTP providers limit the number of mails per day. Plus it would possibly bring many other benefits (less SPAM classifications).
I've been using the bulk mail functionality for about half a year using the PHP delivery method. It worked ok, and I would say, transactional e-mails have not been affected so far (Community with 1000 members, one  monthly newsletter). Bulk Mails were usually sent within a few minutes, however not all were delivered due to no SPF, DKIM, etc.
Now that the Community is growing, I would like to improve e-mail delivery, and I have switched to an SMTP provider. Currently I am testing delivery etc...
@B_U_R_I I've had exactly the same problem with a similar size of our Community. Most free plans have daily usage limits, making the solution a no go for sending e.g. a Bulk Mail with > 500 subscribers.

I was looking at Mailgun, they have apparently no daily sending limit and a "pay as you go" plan which is very affordable. However, you would likely be on a probation period with < 100 Mails/day. I am using at the moment elasticemail. They also have a "pay as you go" plan (but you need to deposit a credit of 10 USD) to start. Otherwise a very affordable for smaller communities. No daily sending limit.
Yesterday I've tried to send a Bulk Mail from within Invision Community. So far no Bulk Mail has been delivered, except during a test where I've sent the bulk mail content to one recipient. This one was delivered approximately after 6 hours. And interestingly, bulk mails do not appear in the elasticemail dashboard. Transactional mails seem to work just fine and are also listed.
I will get in touch with the provider to better understand why bulk mails are not delivered resp. not displayed in the dashboard.
If I can solve it, it would be worth a recommendation. Keep you posted.

xtech got a reaction from Claudia999 in Trying to understand Bulk Mail Cycle
This is a complaint/unfulfilled suggestion from several years ago: the possibility of define maximum number of emails per time (minute / hour / day / month). This would allow the email send request peaks to be flattened and bette balanced over time, which has many benefits.
It is very different from a spam classification point of view if you send 2000 emails in 2 minutes or 2000 emails in two days. In the first case, you may raise some flags which will then cause your email address and domain to be blacklisted and ignored by many email services.
Sorry being down to earth, but the bulk mail functionality as it is now serves basically... for nothing, because if you use it one or two times, your email address will get blacklisted, so your users will not even receive the registration confirmation emails.

Nooooooo! Please don't remove it! 🥶
It is actually a great tool despite its simplicity, it saves us the hassle of connecting other dedicated software or to log via ssh and go to mysql command line just to see simple things, such as the raw names of the fields, specially when we are developing Pages templates, for example.

xtech reacted to Everade in We need webp NOW
Why are invisioncommunity devs so blind for webp?

It's not like it requires any other extra work, since the compression of webp is already existant by nature.
Simply allowing webp by default shouldn't be the biggest deal, or is it?
It's already widely accepted by all major browsers, so there's no excuse on that anymore, especially not since you dropped IE support yourselfs.
But still, every request and any conversation about webp have either been put down, or ignored.

Could we please get an explanation why you're so anti-fast-web?
I'm honestly wondering why is that.

I'm also wondering if the spacer.png image load implementation is still best practice either.
Wouldn't it make more sense to add native lazy loading instead?
Really keen to live up to todays SEO standards and performance requirements.

xtech reacted to 13. in Implement better compression for pasted images
Squoosh is an image compression web app made by Google Chrome Labs. It allows you to dive into the advanced options provided by various image compressors.

Squoosh is open source. and it could be integrated into IPS.

    Here is why it's important:

    1. The image below was pasted directly into editor using CTRL+V, and it's size is 875 kb.

    2. The image below was pasted into squoosh.app using CTRL+V, saved with default settings and then uploaded to the post. Its size is just 42kb (x20.8 times better).
*If IPS supported webp, then it could be just 32 kb, x27.4 times better.

My suggestion is to give us an ability to save pasted images in the most efficient format instead of PNG.

I am onboard with IPS for long, and here is my positive feedback on the current state of the nation:

    - I love the strategy of moving from Pure forum to communities, with a tightly integrantes set of apps. This was a crucial move that allowed IPS to escape from the fierce competitivo on a shrinking market. As everybody knows, fóruns are disappearing, yet people are still getting together. This is why i prefer IPS package Over XF ir VB because there is a whole set of tightly packed tools to get my people collaborating.
    - I love the new theme. "Oh it's too white" "oh só much white space"... For me it is definitely a great step forward. Is ir perfect? No, but it was definitely a major step forward!
    - Integrations! We are not alone in the cyberspace, and there are many great apps and services out there. Integration with Zapier will be a major leap um interoperability and would allow IPS users to extract more value of their communities. I am looking forward to see IPS on Zapier, it os just taking too long.
    - Support. Has been great. Thanks!

I can't agree with you here, sorry. When i look at XF, it is only good at classic forum software. But classic forums are "no more" and they are dying. IPS has followed a different strategy, and imho, a right strategy, of putting a set of tighly coupled apps for community management. The other company that has been following that approach (but they have always taken that direction is Wolt Lab with corporate customers, still, they are lagging behind IPS in aplication effectiveness, comprehension and looks.
To me, there is nothing appealing at XF, only if i wanted to have a gaming forum i would consider them.
