  1. So I just looked at the Provider Directory and visited their links. Some of them only do custom work. Some of them have some work to do on their sites. But your regular marketplace contributors like @opentype @Adriano Faria @Miss_B all have very well developed Marketplaces of their own on their respective sites. I could care less if I am getting a 3rd party app/plugin or theme from outside the marketplace, but it was nice to have a one stop shop to search for what's available. I was thinking of the exact same thing but you beat me to it. 😉
  2. It's this one... https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/469414-display-your-forum-here-forum-showcase-section/ 75 pages long, but no new replies since November 2022. There's probably a decent mix of abandoned projects and dead links among them, but it would be a good place to start.
  3. I've had the same observation. I would love to check out what others have done with their IPS communities.
  4. Okay, I guess I get it. Other social platforms, such as Facebook, Mighty Networks, Kajabi, and many many more just do it differently. The notifications remain bold until you have physically clicked on them and read the content. When you return to the notifications, the unread ones are still bold. Most have a "Mark all notifications read" button if you want to clear them so they aren't in bold anymore. Unread Content does work, albeit a bit differently, because Notifications actually show you what you have specifically asked to be notified about, such as followed topic, replies, reactions, etc. What I usually have to do, is click through to the main notification screen and open each notification in a new tab so that I don't accidently miss/skip a notification - something that would not be a concern if they remained bold until read. It's a very convenient feature and something many of us get used to, so I offered it up as Feedback because I think it would be a nice enhancement to the product.
  5. ... like Facebook and other social platforms do. On my Invision installation, let's presume I visit my board and I have 15 notifications. I scroll down to #15 and click on it and read that post. Then when I return to the Bell icon at the top of the page to open my notifications again, they are all marked read. Couldn't just #15 be marked read and the remaining unread notifications still be in bold type and very clear that they are notifications that have yet to be clicked on?
  6. Hey, I want to quell some speculation in a chaotic discussion taking place in another community regarding the new license arrangment for Self-Hosted clients who opt to adopt them. Just like under the old license agreement, if a license expires, the software continues to function, correct? Even if more than 24 months elapse, that software will still continue to function, correct? There is a fear among participants in this dicsussion that if someone doesn't renew their license, or fails to renew it within 24 months, that Invision will pull the plug on their site, and suddenly members of their community will visit and see that it has been shut down. Surely that is not the case, right? Would that community continue to function? Under the old license, services like Spam prevention, Upgrades, Support, etc would be discontinued, but the license could be renewed at any time. The new arrangement only means that if more than 24 months elapse without a renewal, should you want those services back or desire to upgrade, you will have to drop the $499 again. In summary, renew at $19 to extend the license another month, or renew annually at $199 to extend the license another year. Fail to extend your license for 12 more months (equaling 24 months since previous paid renewal) and you will have to buy a new license at $499 and generate a new license key. But the installations of those who let 24+ months elapse will still have an operational self-hosted community, just no longer supported. Is this thinking correct?
  7. Well I have some mixed emotions. On the one hand, this is fantastic for my established community. I currently have everything except for Commerce and my 6 month renewals are $105, or $210 per year. I will be converting this license to gain the extra functionality and lower my annual costs. On the other hand, I am about to start a new community, and was was heading over here to buy JUST the forum and maybe one other app, then was shocked that it's all bundled together for $500 now. I was willing to invest a little bit on an idea that may or may not succeed, but now I'm back to wondering if I should start with a freeware script at first, and convert later. I would rather not do that because I am very fond of and very familiar with the Invision Suite. And if the new community should fail, I would use the license to try again with another one. It would be nice if existing users got a discount or coupon code for subsequent licenses.
  8. So I was looking over the Cloud options again (this is something our community administrators are seriously considering), and then I noticed that 3rd party apps are only available for the Creator Pro level. We currently integrate Tapatalk in our self-hosted community. Am I to understand that we would lose Tapatalk integration unless we opted for the Creator Pro level?
  9. Yeah, ImageMagick was not installed, but even after installing it I still ran into that error message. I ended up restoring my test-install back to it's pre-upgrade state and switching to GD. Then the upgrade went flawlessly.
  10. So I purchased a new server and have been moving everything over. I have a test installation on another domain seperate from the main community. I haven't upgraded it in a long time, but I attempted it today and the upgrade stalled with the following message... I am worried about moving my live community to the new server and then encountering the same issue, so I am looking for advice on how to resolve this ahead of time. I've had upgrades break my community more than we like lately.
  11. A certain phrase or key words. I just found a way to do it in the AdminCP as well. I didn't realize this function existed.
  12. One example of an ability we need to do from time to time is to search Custom Profile Fields. This was easy to do in the previous SQL ToolBox that existed prior to 4.7 and now I can only think to do it via phpMyAdmin.
  13. Out of curiosity, what if a Cloud hosted client needed to run an SQL query?
  14. That's too bad. We have a few topics dating all the way back to 2008 that are picture heavy. When the 3rd party conversion service converted it to IPB 3, all the images were put into a directory like this and hotlinked from the post itself... /uploads/converted_files/ I can't imagine having to manually edit each post to fix the broken image after migrating to cloud.
  15. Awesome. I was about to hack some template code to get rid of this menu option and then I found this 🙂
  16. We're back online! I'm sharing this so that others can use it for reference. @Marc Stridgen said in the email support ticket: For mysterious reasons, I was unable to change 2 tables from MYISAM to INNODB. So my VPS host created a backup of the database, made the change to the dump file and imported it. We reran the upgrade utility and everything finished successfully. The solution was to change all tables from MYISAM to INNODB.
  17. Okay. It looks like I can do that at the registrar. I previously have done it in cPanel. What about extra directories containing images? When we migrated from Phorum to IPB 3.? we use a third party service to convert all the posts, etc. All the images from the previous message board were saved in a directory and are hotlinked in those early posts. Can I ensure that this (or these) directories get uploaded so that images in these old posts are not broken?
  18. Awesome. I think we are really leaning towards this route. I have my own VPS where the community currently resides. But if something should happen to me, the other Admins don't have the technical know-how to deal with managing a server. Even I can barely do it, lol. Do we, or can we, use our own namerserver? Or do we use yours? There are 3 domains associated with the community: mySite.com, mySite.net, and mySite.org - We only use mySite.net and typing the other 2 in your address bar simply redirects to mySite.net - We intentionally squat on the other two. Can our community in the cloud be set up to do the same redirection?
  19. @Marc Stridgen - anything? The community has been down for 14 hours now. I need to get it back online, even if it means abandoning the upgrade process.
  20. I have 2 things going on... 1) I am starting another community. 2) The current community is potentially interested in moving to the cloud. If we migrate our existing community to the cloud, can I repurpose my self-hosted license for the new startup effort?
  21. So most of them were MyIsam, but I changed them to INNODB last night. I realized Tech Support was closed and started trying to find other topics that encountered similar issues. However, I am unable to change 2 tables to INNODB ALTER TABLE `ipb_core_message_topics` ENGINE = INNODB; MySQL said: #1366 - Incorrect string value: '\xED\xA0\xBD\xED\xB8\xB4' for column 'mt_title' at row 2678 and ALTER TABLE `ipb_tapatalk_push_data` ENGINE = INNODB; MySQL said: #1366 - Incorrect string value: '\xED\xA0\xBD\xED\xB1\x8B...' for column 'title' at row 4284 If relevant, my conf_global.php remains unchanged with the following lines... $INFO['mysql_tbl_type'] = 'MyISAM'; $INFO['sql_utf8mb4'] = true;
  22. Good morning Marc. Everything should be up to date now.
  23. I haven't been here in about 6 months. It looks like you've changed things around. If my previous post was made in the wrong forum then please move/merge it over here. I am self hosted and my upgrade failed last night and I cannot figure out how to get it going again. We're dead in the water and stuck offline at the moment. Here is my original plea for assistance....
  24. My upgrade is frozen with this on the screen.... Incorrect string value: '\xED\xA0\xBD\xED\xB8\xB4' for column 'mt_title' at row 2678 /home/MySite/public_html/applications/core/setup/upg_107600/queries.json - query #2 ALTER TABLE `ipb_core_message_topics` ADD KEY `mt_alert` (`mt_alert`) What should I do?
  25. Naturally, that's a good idea. I think I am 2 months behind on updates, running 4.7.5
