I didn't want to duplicate Inan's error just below which doesn't seem to have the same reasons
When I launch the update, everything is ok, I click on start and from the 1% I have a blank page under FireFox which gives me a 500 error on Chrome

I ended up managing to do the upgrade by deleting the Link and Videobox folders directly in the application folder via ftp.
Once the upgrade was over I put them back then updated and everything works 😉

PHP 8 is a large jump from 7. In that, PHP has changed a lot of what were "soft errors" to "hard breaking errors". If your third party add-ons were previously doing something were causing one of those soft errors, it now will break your site. Which is why gathering the information requested and doing the steps provided is required to ensure that A) you are not missing any required modules on your server for PHP 8 and B) see if any third party add-ons are interfering.

This setting is actually tucked away slightly.
Visit the "Groups" page in your admin cpanel (admin/?app=core&module=members&controller=groups) and click the Edit (pencil) icon. Under the Downloads tab, you'll see an option named "Can submit URLs?"
Enable that for your group(s) and you're done!
