Fosters Crew is pleased to present the newest version of Trophies & Medals v1.3.0, available immediately in the IPS Marketplace for download.  The newest version of Trophies & Medals is perfect for the winter holidays with several new features to help you bedazzle your members!
    Replace
You can now replace both trophies and medals!  Are you looking to replace one award and upgrade it with another one?  This is appropriate when you have a series of awards where users improve their ranking or leveling.  Use the new replace feature to take away the old trophy or medal, and give a new one.

Replace existing trophy when you award a new trophy

Replace existing medal when you award a new medal.
    Font Awesome
Don't want to search for your own images?  Use any icon from the amazing set of Font Awesome icons with 675 icons including our personal favorites fa-star and fa-trophy.  Browse the complete set of Font Awesome icons  (http://fontawesome.io/icons/) and start using them in your awards!

600+ choices for you to find the perfect award icon!
    Rules App Integration
We love Automation Rules by @Kevin Carwile, so we're extending his application to including a handful of new actions.  The newest integration is the ability to remove a medal.  We will be developing more events and actions as time goes on.
Automation Rules + Trophies & Medals is more powerful than ever with a new action to remove medals.
    Member Filter Extension

We've added a new member filter extension that deeply integrates into the IPS 4 platform.  The new member filter appears in all AdminCP settings that rely upon member filters, including:
Bulk Mail Group Promotion You will see these new criteria anytime you choose the member filters, which enables you to leverage the power of Trophies & Medals in new and exciting ways.  You can send targeted mail campaigns to users who reached certain trophies, or you can promote members based upon special trophies or medals they've earned.  This is one of the most exciting improvements we've built, with native integration into IPS 4, so we're excited to see how you creative use this!

Exactly. It's only an action to award a medal based on a specific rule.

Looks like you are trying to install it as new, try the "upload a new version" option, which is when you click the plus sign to the right of the the app name.

If you want to give me acp access, feel free to PM me. But otherwise it is difficult to give advice from distance. Looks like something about your custom action is a bit off and it still is not assigned to the event.

Yeah, you need to replace the token with the one provided by the rule Glad you figured it out. Now to create the rule that will make aliases for all existing members go to custom action, create one custom action and add Member as argument.
Create a new rule and for event use the created custom action. For the action when it asks for "Map to url" you should have the member argument from the created custom action. For path, again add the token provided by the rules app. Report back here when done so we can do the scheduling after that

Thats when you create custom actions, its here:

You can read more about it here:https://ipsguru.net/documentation/rules/general/customactions
But as I mentioned, leave that part for now. Try to setup the rule with event account is validated, then register a user on your board and see if it works.

I think you are missing the event. Did you create custom action with member argument? Start from there
By they way, maybe its better if we create the other rule first - the one for the new registrations. It will be easier to test without creating thousands of path aliases. So pretty much follow the steps I described before, but instead of custom action use for event "Account is validated", then for action do the thing with the path aliases, then try to register and check if it works
  13. Thanks

Without having precise experience with your issue, I suggest the following steps:
    1. Create a custom action with Members as argument. This will be scheduled manually and used as an event trigger to create the url's for all existing members.
    2. Create a rule with the event, the custom action you just created. In action field add Create url alias and in the settings add:

Map to URL I believe should be unchanged, for URL path you need to use the token for the membername listed on top. You need to schedule the rule, run it and thats it.
I guess some of the things I wrote might sound foreign to you, Rules app have a bit of a steep initial learning curve. But you can learn it by doing  Just give it a try and if you are stuck somewhere, let me know.
To have the urls created for new members, you need to use slightly different rule (with event "Account is validated"), but we can leave this one out for now.

Some additional ideas for "Commerce Plus":
    - Ability to use virtual currencies. Right now commerce is tied only with real life currencies, which is an inconvenience for everyone that use one of the Point systems and want to be able to use Commerce for users to pay with points.
    - Splitting of payment methods per currency choice. Paypal can be good for one currency but very bad for another.
    - Ability to buy digital products (like upgrade subscriptions) for someone else - similar to reddit gold
    - Ability to pay what you want for a digital product
    - Personal store for the users - I know that classfields app does something similar.
I am sure there are plenty more, you can just take ideas from the Feedback forum here. In general Commerce is an app that looks like it was created only for the internal uses of IPS, added a few bells and whistles and released for everyone. But it is still miles away from the real e-commerce systems.

i've thought about making something for forums like adding in community moderation (like setting a threshold when a post is rated down, and its positive to negative ratio hits the threshold it's content gets "hidden" like a spoiler and flagged for moderators to look at to see if it needs removed). i've also thought about doing a catgory-less forums, have everything tag driven, and add in hashtags like twitter has, that can be searched for and what not, but it appeared IPS was going to be adding them in, but that doesn't appear to have happened yet. i've also thought about making a "chan" style addition to forums, where anonymity is the name of the game, and its made mostly for sharing images. i also like the threaded nature of say reddit and tumblr, thought about adding those into forums as well.
i've never really used gallery, I've always been fond of pinterest, but not sure how many others have been. blogs imho is a lost cause, its not a very interesting app to begin with. commerce i would be open to making changes to it, the one thing i've been wanting for a long time is front end submissions, paid submissions, and even actual digital downloads, as i use it on my site, and each of my downloads get linked to a product. it be nice to offer it directly in commerce instead of having downloads.
i've thought about generalizing questions and answers after i rework it (right now it works, but its kinda plain and has a few bugs in it), and the tab ordering, and the amazon style review additions i did in downloads plus and bring those features to the other apps that use them. as long as they use the node/item/comment/review class's, i could introduce those features to 'em.
if you have any suggestions for other "plus" apps, i am always considering new apps.

    Foster's Tutorial: Quality Content
Are you looking for a way to reward quality postings in your community? Are you looking to recognize superusers who make an outsized contribution to your community? Are you looking to build a knowledge hub with reputable information? Trying to sift through the morass of community posts can be a difficult feat for most community managers, as many communities are filled with low quality posts on general discussion topics, off topic jokes, or social chit chat.  If you're an admin who wants to cut through the chit chat and grow your reputation for high quality information, then you need a way to both recognize and reward reputable users.
Trophies & Medals by @Fosters is a full-featured awards system that will enable you to recognize the contributions of your users.  In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to create a simple but effective automated system that rewards trophies based upon user reputation.  Using the native IPS functionality of reputation that gives users +1 / -1, you can build your own trophy system in minutes.
    1.  First, navigate to the ACP > Trophies and Medals app, which will show you all of the options for the application.
    2.  Click on Trophies > + Create New button.  You will create a trophy category with a Name and Description.  For example: "Trophies for Reputation."  Click Save.

Enter in the Name and Description to create a Project category.
    3.  Once you've created a category, click on + to "Add Trophy."  Create your first trophy with the Name, Description, and Icon.  For example: "Awesome Rep +1".

Enter in the Name, Description, and Icon to create a new Trophy.
    4.  Click on the tab "Award this trophy if..." and select User received at least X reputation = 1.  This will award the trophy when the user has received his first reputation.  You can browse and select other criteria as needed.  Click Save.

User received at least X reputation should be 1.
Congratulations, you did it!  You created your first trophy that auto-awards any member with at least 1 reputation.  If you want, you can go back and start creating more trophies for different levels of reputation.  This is what it can look like once you add more trophies:

By creating a series of trophies that automatically award members for superior reputation, you're recognizing the positive contributions of your membership and motivating them to continue posting quality content!  This will result in more meaningful posts in your community, motivating users to offer insightful and useful commentary to other members, and deepen the quality of conversation.  Best of all, it gives you an automated award system that constantly runs in the background without any further work on your part.  You target positive behavior in your community and encourage users to build up the collective body of knowledge over time.
    Advanced Tips
Here are a couple of our favorite tips on making the most of the trophy system for quality content:
Inform your users about the new trophy badges that they can earn!  Write 2 - 3 short topics on how they earn the trophy badges, what the different badges signity, and to seek input and involvement on creative brainstorming for the badges.  It's a great way to roll it out in advance and get your community excited about this new way to reward quality posts!   Give a unique compliment such as "Awesome job!" or "People think you're amazing!" in the description of each trophy. This engenders a positive feedback loop to encourage more positive behavior. Make your levels progressively harder.  Instead of every 5 reputation levels (eg. 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25), try to make it harder over time so users need to work more to obtain the next trophy (eg. 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100).  This ensures that trophies aren't too easy to attain in a routine fashion.   Let users know when their next trophy is awarded in the description.  This gives them a goal to work towards and a reason to login to your community.  For example, if they're at a trophy for reputation 20, let the user know to keep up the good work and receive their next trophy at reputation 50.  This offers a goal completion to motivate users.    If you run a Q&A forum, you can target 'best answers' using specialized trophy criteria and let your community compete for the most best answers.  Recognize them in person!  While the best part about the Trophies & Medals system is the level of automation that you can define in advance, you should take the time to recognize and cheer on members when they hit certain levels.  It doesn't have to be every time nor for every user, but when you notice a great post or a lot of reputation, let them know they're on their way to earning their next trophy for reputation! I hope you enjoyed this Foster's Tutorial and learned some new things.  We're always open for questions or issues, and be sure to "like" this topic so we can start earning our reputation badges too .

it is a codemirror editor (as a lot of request when i first came out with it was to allow full html useage, and the cke editor doesn't allow that). it doesn't do template logic at this time, but i might consider adding it in a future version, as it is n't "hard" to do, and i do something similar already in my CJ Menu application, so i could probably scarf the code from it.
so to answer your question, it can do bbc, some editor stuff and raw html and of course plain text

the sounds are working for me if they are enabled, i can't reproduce that issue at all. i am releasing 2.4.2 where i have loosened up the timings a bit on the babble.js

there are two css classes that get applied to the keywords they are "keyword" and "keywordurl" that you can style in your customs.css to make them appear any way you like.
at this time you can't use external API's, but you can link to IPS Page Databases (as you can create a URL keyword and provide the link to the record).
they are done at display runtime,  so they always appear "up to date".

I would second that. Many of the IPS apps can benefit from some love on the template department. Gallery and Commerce are prime examples.

    Hi Taman,
Thank you for the detailed answers to my questions, all clear now. As a suggestion, I think it will be great if users are able to filter the tickers. Lets say I add 5 tickers - new yourk times, forbes, autosport and so on. The user can select which news sources interest him and disable the others. Just an idea
