I just add my opinion here that I'd also like to see the ability to schedule any content that is created within the Invision Community Suite - posts, files, articles, everything. This would be a huge improvement, because it allowes to create content earlier and then make it public to everyone when desired.

A large part of being able to manage a relatively busy Board is self policing by the Membership. When a Member clicks Report Post on problem Content they can either enter a Message or not. Regardless. I typically like to address their Reporting with a Thank You or a return Message. As is there is no automatic Messaging feature built into the Report Post function for the Member who reposts a Post, but you can click the offending Members name and access a Message function in drop down. As is you need to go to the Reporting Members Profile to Message or go to the Message function, type in their name etc. Being able to quickly Message the Offending Member and the Reporting  Member seems to make sense.

I just noticed this was mentioned recently in another Topic, with the only response being a third party plug in. Some of us prefer to stay native to the IPB software and functionality. Working this into an update doesn’t seem to be a huge hassle.

Just putting this out there as a core inclusion, to improve the Geolocation against member registrations and posts.
The current Maxmind implementation is totally ineffective, and the Google integration does not override this.

Is it possible by now to activate group promotions based on club membership of a user? I think this would add a lot more flexibility.

    Hello,
It will be beneficial if we can perform management action (delete/ban/approve) on several users at once from the ACP. Just add a checkbox near each user, which will solve this issue.
I think it's a key feature that already existed in the older version and somehow vanishes.
    Thanks.

    Hey,
I was wondering if it would be possible somehow to show a hidden post besides moderators to the user who created. Normally only moderators can see these posts.
I would like to use this feature in order to tell users why it was been removed without bothering other users.

Yes, the Downloads App needs more attention. Regarding uploads I think it should techincally be possible to allow huge uploads and downloads, even on hosted sites with little to no possibility to configure the php.ini file. I have seen a new version of a Download App (for a competing software) that allowes exactly that. A very nice feature!
Two more things that come to my mind right away (because I was struggeling with this lately):
    4) Categories should not work like forums. Content in subcategories should also show up in the parent one.
    5) It should be possible to add more than one category to a download.

Of couse creating a next-level Pages app requires lots of work... - and thinking, because if it is not done right, I doubt it will have a chance on a market that is heavily influenced by said page builders more and more people get used to. I am glad though that you have this on your minds and I am very curious what you will come up with in the (hopefully 🙂) somewhat near future.

There are quite a few very, very powerful page builders out there, which do a great job at giving you easy-to-use tools to create awesome-looking and super-customizable (!) pages without any coding knowledge. Wordpress has these, Joomla has these, Drupal (to some extend) has these... just to name some big, free CMS.
Personally I think this is the future. There will always be tech-savy people who know how to create templates, use html, css, js, php and whatnot... and of course a community software should offer everything that allowes for maximum customization by anyone who is able to do so. But the vast majority has (very?) little knowledge regarding the technical background, and honestly, they just do not care. They want to focus on both creating and displaying content. For that they need tools... easy to use, with a maximum of flexibility. In the upcoming years, I think a complete community software has to offer more than "just" forums, galleries etc. They will always be needed and there will always be room for those, but around all that it needs a powerful CMS.

I've spoken briefly in other topics on how lamentable the Pages app is for those who do not possess the skills to create their own templates and layouts. The Pages app is heralded as one of the most powerful applications in the suite, and it may be for those who can harness the power it yields.  For everyone else it is a minefield to navigate and a lot of people either just give up on it or resort to plugins from the marketplace, which are generally pretty good at what they offer but they are limited by the functions which developer has designed the plugin to do.
One of the most powerful page layout generators I have come across is a WordPress plugin called the Divi Builder (made by www.elgantthemes.com) - it is one hell of a powerful tool that allows you to develop complex pages using adaptable rows and columns.  An example of some of the basic layouts offered (which can be applied on a row by row basis) is shown below:

At present, Pages is constrained to 1,2 or 3 column layouts which cannot be applied on a row by row basis.  For example you CAN mix some columns in Pages but you are stuck with X number of columns on top/bottom with a single column that sits above or below; you can't have single column, two/three column another single column and another two/three column layout, etc.
The other pain with Pages is that the column widths are non-negotiable; two columns will span the width of the container equally - you can't have one column take up 60% of the real estate with the other column taking up the other 40%, that is incredibly restrictive.
I'm not advocating that Pages mimic the Divi Builder in all of the features it brings - it's module based and there are loads of different modules that can be dragged into the layout - but Pages can make a start by giving more power to layouts.  That would be a massive improvement on what sits there now.
The other noticeable missing aspect is the ability to add pages to a page layout.  Very long articles would be better if they were broken into pages much like a book.  Single column layouts could have an added feature of making a page columned where the text will flow naturally from one column to another, much as it does in Microsoft Word, for those reading on wider screens.
Stacking order for columns on smaller screens would be another feature bonus where you can choose to stack the most important blocks near the top with the least important below.
This is just the tip of the iceberg as to what Pages can become as truly outstanding CMS application within the IPS Suite.  How much work would lie behind such an undertaking I have no idea, but it would be worthwhile and it would be a huge boon to those who want to harness the power of the Pages application and create some beautiful page layouts that capture the imagination.
Thoughts? More suggestions also welcome as this is something that can be of benefit to everyone.  Thanks for reading.

    13. Inactive members.
13.1. Feature to automatically delete inactive members for the period of time.I don't want dead souls on board and make illusion for members that we have thousands active members. So better to make feature to set a timeframe for inactive members after that they can be automatically deleted from the community.
13.2.  Option to show members not agreed with updated and forced Terms & Rules. Or automatically deletion disagreed members feature.

I want my community to be the income oriented platform and professional profit focused ecosystem. The below features are the tools to achieve mentioned goal:
    CONTENT
    1. Allow Administrator to change the TopicStarter (Author).
Some Authors can be banned or deleted from community, but topic can be popular and deserves to stay.
    2. Option to limit members from change topic title and first message separately.
Most members creating misspelled topic titles and Administrator can edit more correct and SEO-friendly.
    3. If Reply to this status..., then updated status goes UP in All Activity feed and in Members own feed.
Improves moderation and in profiles activity.
    4. Share this post on other sites: Add WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, Instagram, Tumblr, VK, XING. + Add the setup option for this feature in the AdminCP.
    5. Display icons on Pinned topics and Recommended posts in All Activity feed.
    6. Built-in translator for messages in other languages.
    7. Members can Pin own message on its Profiles Activity feed.
    8. Auto-width size of Excel table after copy-paste.
    9. If Delete All Content (Members) then delete created Clubs too.
If I want to delete all the content of specific user, It should be erased completely! No need ghost-clubs, except the Public ones.
    ECOSYSTEM
    10. Setup permissions for members group that way, so the members of "one group" could see each other content, but other groups can't see "one group" content. Like parallel world in the same community. + Hide "one group" content from search engines.
Within the framework of freedom of speech, that is a good feature to hide and allow sensitive content.
    11. Option to leave the community. Ex.: Member leaved the community N minutes ago
Sometimes Members asks to delete their account. Let them do it ourselves. And let them to decide in deletion menu to stay posted content as Guests or Delete All Content.
    12. Set up premium buttons for Members to pay for extra options on direct pages: pin topic, change members group, recommend post, promote.
    Admin pre moderation.
    13. Feature to automatically delete inactive members for the period of time.
I don't want dead souls on board and make illusion for members that we have thousands active members. So better to make feature to set a timeframe for inactive members after that they can be automatically deleted from the community.
    WORD FILTERS
    14. Word Filters for About Me in profiles, Usernames, Tags.
Unfortunately Members can still avoid and post inappropriate content in mentioned sections.
    15. If Added new word to filter, all the filtered content must be updated regarding Action to take.
Before I added another word to filter there is still hundreds of active topics and thousand active messages with the banned word.
    16. When any content is hidden for moderation approval on the Words Filter basis, highlight the banned words for Administrator.
It needs a lot of time for moderator\admin to understand why the message was filtered: hard to find a filtered word in long texts.
    17. Text Editor for Replace with text action in Word Filters. Ability to chage color for replaced text.
Amex credit card holders Indian or any country cards can be filtered word.
Amex credit card holders Indian or any country cards can be filtered word.
To pay more attention to the rules for intruders.
    18. Add new action to take: Hide\Reveal objectionable word.
Instead of replacing text create to hide the objectionable word instead and a user simply places their mouse cursor over the top of it to reveal the word.

The objectionable word is still present just obscured from view unless someone chooses to reveal it.

Layouts, containers, boxes, everything with WYSIWYG, permission-based displaying... you can basically go through the whole Wordpress/Joomla/Drupal catalog. There is so much room for a true Pages app!

MMXII reacted to Dexter_X in "Keep on" badges
Another possibility regarding badges awarding are the badges the users can own while they keep on certain amount per time.
For example a user posts more than 30 posts / week : owns a "keep on" badge that could be named : "active contributor" (or something like that). So if the user goes under the 30 posts / week he looses the badge until he goes to that rate (or more)...
That could promote participation in a more permanent way.
Regarding milestones and points on that kind of rules I don't know if it can be useful. Milestones could be set on something like "owns that badge since 1 month" (so based on time) ; points make sense only if there are milestones (from my point of view)...

MMXII reacted to Davyc in How to make header images bigger in Pages?
    OK Here we go.
Login to your ACP and go to the Pages templates (not the theme templates).
Locate the template named 'Entry' it's usually the first one already opened, but check.
    Locate the following code:
<div class='ipsColumn ipsColumn_medium'> <div class="cCmsRecord_image"> <img class="ipsImage" src="{file="$record->_record_image_thumb" extension="cms_Records"}"> </div> Move the middle two lines up (see next code) and comment out the existing code (see below) so it looks like this:
    <div class="cCmsRecord_image"> <img class="ipsImage" src="{file="$record->_record_image_thumb" extension="cms_Records"}"> </div> <div {{if $record->record_image}}class='ipsColumns ipsColumns_collapsePhone'{{endif}}> {{if $record->record_image}} <!-- <div class='ipsColumn ipsColumn_medium'> <div class="cCmsRecord_image"> <img class="ipsImage" src="{file="$record->_record_image_thumb" extension="cms_Records"}"> </div> </div>--> Now we need to make some entries into your custom CSS file in the theme settings:
To use a fixed height for your images as defined by the height of your images add this:
/* Change floats and size for CMS record image */ .cCmsCategoryFeaturedEntry .cCmsRecord_image { float: none; } .cCmsRecord_image { float: none; } .cCmsCategoryFeaturedEntry .cCmsRecord_image img { max-width: none; max-height: none; } If you want your existing images to retain their height but you want less of it displayed use this as well as the above CSS:
.cCmsCategoryFeaturedEntry .cCmsRecord_image { float: left; margin-right: 15px; margin-top: 4px; max-height: 200px !important; overflow: hidden; } Change the max-height to whatever you want.  If something isn't being changed try adding !important after each line until you see the changes happening.
Any issues let me know 🙂
