I'd like to extend a public invitation to all IPS clients and the third-party community to celebrate the opening of the free listing of files on the Marketplace Directory of Invisioneer.org.
    https://www.invisioneer.org/marketplace/
What is the Marketplace Directory on Invisioneer.org?
The Marketplace Directory is a free list of files by authors. Its goal is simple: a free, centralized list for you to browse third-party files.
No files are sold or supported on the site itself. You will be redirected to the author's site for payment and support.
You will find the Marketplace Directory to be immediately familiar:
Same categories and structure as the IPS Marketplace Same IP.Downloads app as the IPS Marketplace  Over 300+ files have already been listed in the Marketplace Directory, and we hope more will be listed as developers and themers update their files.
    Why visit Marketplace Directory?
The Marketplace Directory will never be a perfect substitute for the IPS Marketplace, which had deep integration with the ACP and directly processed payments on behalf of clients.
However, as soon as it became known that IPS was shutting down its Marketplace, it became clear that clients would confusingly need to go to multiple websites. Purchased 5 plugins from 5 different developers? You need to visit 5 different sites for support and payment.
The Marketplace Directory doesn't totally solve the problem, but it's a step in the right direction.  It consolidates files by authors who wish to list together, and makes file discovery and author tracking so much easier.  There is power in collaboration, and the Marketplace Directory is a great example of the most trusted third-party developers coming together in the spirit of community.
    What is Invisioneer.org?
Invisioneer.org is a broader project of mine to offer a suite of resources to help IPS owners and admins launch better communities - and to hopefully learn alongside you.  It's my goal to build an "ecosystem of success" around IPS owners and admins as we compete and thrive together on the modern web:
IPS helps you compete with community software Third-party developers help you compete with themes and extensions Invisioneer.org helps you compete with community strategy My goal behind Invisioneer.org is to help you compete - and win - with the "soft skills" of community management that are just as important as the technology: crafting a community strategy, leading with emotional intelligence, and leveraging best practices from disciplines like behavioral economics, psychology, sociology, and leading community consultancies.
The Marketplace Directory is an important part of Invisioneer.org, and one component of the ecosystem of success for IPS clients to leverage.
What do I do with my files?
Purchases and renewals have stopped on the IPS Marketplace, and the Marketplace itself will shut down on October 30 2023 according to IPS.
To continue receiving support and updates to your active Marketplace files, you will need to transfer your purchases' license keys directly to the author. To find the license keys for all purchases, go to My Purchases.
Active authors have posted information on their file descriptions or in the support topic about their own support sites.  If you purchased a file from a developer who doesn't have information yet, you will need to reach out to that author.

I gotta say, this is a pain.  I have to contact each provider, hope they have a site, then register, then keep up with many different sites.
Over time, there will be fewer and fewer providers, eventually most of them will probably give up.  Especially the ones that created one or two fun apps.

I think it's OK if IPS wants to do this, but there is a better way. It's anonying to remove everything at once. You don't want to manage the marketplace, that's ok, but why do this unprofessionally?

You didn't think about how much the customers and providers depend on this method, you just decided that there should be no more Marketplace and announced it, and did!?,  But you didn't think about the solution to this crisis that is happening to the customers and providers.

I recently updated an app that took me about a few days to review. I received a message from a customer that it is not possible to renew. Well, if this possibility has been removed, then why did you allow me to upload the new version?
I'm currently working on setting up my own marketplace to even allow users to install directly, but with this message I've received, now I have to think about how users can download the new file now and within the next two months before setting up my marketplace. It has messed up my schedule and priorities.

In my opinion, the way out of this decision should not have been this way. With respect to all customers, giving the file directly to customers is a very wrong thing to do, and I don't think the providers are okay with it. They only announced that this was going to happen, but did not consider any plan or tools for it. It's good that you list the apps, but does it help with these problems? an instruction should have been prepared for customers and providers so that they can go through it in the best way and with the least worries and continue this way. I think they were in a hurry. My concern is that another decision will be made in the future that will destroy the efforts we are currently making to adapt to it. What is really the guarantee for it?

Really?  I'm no expert but I find the last part of this sentence hard to believe given that there are many gaps in IPB functionality which necessitated the Marketplace community in the first place.

That's the biggest rewind I've seen from IPS in years of service. 🤯
The marketplace is an excellent showcase for small and big developers to publish their work that would have a potential chance of being bought, you've killed every chance for these products to be discovered.
There are many small modifications that enrich the IPS, and now they will no longer have visibility.
People will now have to apply for paid service one by one, for features that were already available in marketplace.

I would have hoped for a 6 month notice period to be honest not 2 1/2 months.
Considering we cant download addons any more other than through admincp we cant even back up for a wayward plugin dev who is sick or unable to handle the change in 2 months.
Please at least let us download what we own to self install for now.

Right, so this bodes well for well known and established devs as they have already created a foundational trust model with clients.  For new devs, that's a barrier they'd have to create over time.  Meanwhile, clients either have no way to validate new devs work like IPS previously did to guarantee the safety of the app/plugin.
I think this greatly elevates the risk for clients and subsequently harms the potential for developers to grow the product.  Hobbyist sites will suffer the most as they simply don't have the resources to invest in robust security evaluation.
Perhaps another opportunity for a dev to provide some level of AppSec and InfoSec scanning of applications to lower the risk.

You need to import the package key so it is accepted.

It sounds like your member group needs to have permission to access it.
    ACP > Members > Members > Groups
Select the group that should have access to the Source button.  Enable "Can post HTML".

It was the cookie path that was being set incorrectly. Nginx was configured:
server_name _; which was then being used by
    $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']; in
\IPS\Request::getCookiePath() which was causing the cookie path to be set to "//domain.com" instead of "/". I was under the impression that Nginx automatically set the server name to the request's host when using "_", but that is incorrect.
Simply setting the correct server_name or manually changing the server name header to $host would fix it.

gigantor reacted to Randy Calvert in Does IPS Use Sendmail?
IPB uses the default php mail function which should work with Sendmail. You should be fine.

If you have problems with this, IPB also supports sending mail via other methods such as SMTP or with other big 3rd part mail delivery services.

We used to use OWASP - Imunify is a lot better for less false positives - Part of the cloudlinux suite, used them since 2012

gigantor reacted to Randy Calvert in nginx Reverse Proxy in Front of IPS
Personally instead of doing Nginx, I would use a cloud based WAF to filter a request before it ever gets to my server/datacenter.

The further away you can fight an attacker the better.

You will really need to give a lot more information about what you exactly want to do and what you have server wise.
    Here are the Nginx docs

I will move this to our developer forum, as custom development is outside the scope of support. But something like this will get you what you are looking for
    $name = \IPS\Member::loggedIn()->name; echo $name;
