Wow, a tutorial (which is excellent by the way) of which the majority of the content is related to making a copy of 3.4.7 would put you off 4.0? Seems a strange conclusion to me.

i didn't see it mention here - but once you login to 4.0 ACP you should go to System > Support > Choose Something isn't working correctly.
it does some other tests to make sure things are done - like running some database queries, and cleaning caches.

Looking at the docs, there's a few things that need changing.

There's two lots of URLs for loading the JS, the one you've got there is for user profiles, there's another in /admin/applications_addon/other/membermap/modules_public/membermap/map.php

As well as changing to https://, you'll need to add &s=1 to the end of the URL to tell it to load it's own resources via https.

I have posted this to Tracker to implement. http://ipb.silvesterwebdesigns.com/tracker/issue-369-load-bing-api-via-https/

Just to let you know (if you're not following the main file - I would suggest you do that!)

Member Map 2 Beta 2 is now available.

Fairly soon, I want to push out another 'beta' release when I've finished the interface for adding member markers.

Next version has a dashboard plugin:

This dashboard plugin will try to fix missing folder/permissions, but will let you know if there's still a problem. Hopefully this will address the most common questions that have been asked about 2.x Beta

So is Santa coming tonight? Am I going to find Version 2.0 in my stocking in the morning? Thanks for all you do and I still would love to talk to you about doing a few custom map items. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Okais, updated to 2.0.0 beta and all Markers dissapeared. Have checked permissions and ensured that things are writable that should be and recached all however still does not show any markers.

Looked at console log and seems that its looking for cache/mmap/members-1.json and cannot find it. Cache folder is def writable. Any idea?

EDIT: Please disregard the above. Its weekend and Im being incredibly stupid LMAO ...... For anyone else who decides on being incredibly stupid today, try running the scheduled task that creates the cache in the first place :D

When its ready is actually a reasonable answer. You need to realise that Stuart provides his professional services in creating a piece of software he could quite easily have charged for, free of charge. Not only that he is working hard to change over the membermap to bing and improve functionality to those who use it, something of which I personally very much appreciate.
