sobrenome reacted to Adlago in Manifest caching
5 months ago I created such a topic in Client Lounge
I confirmed @bfarber moving the topic to this section - but this does not seem to have happened.
This file is rarely changed. The cache does not need to be only 24 hours. This is probably fixed in the output php or somewhere else. This expires time cannot be changed with a htaccess file - I've tried all the options found on the web.
Please put in ACP an option to change expires time to this cache.
Thanks.

I'm not sure because all the experiments I've done with the htaccess file do not change the expires time.
If I trust these recommendations here - the expiration time should be 0 seconds.
But even these tips implemented in htaccess file do not change the expires time.
If you point me to which file I make a change - I could experiment and write here for a result.

I'll be honest - I don't think we need configuration options for how long to cache the manifest file.
I'm not opposed to adjusting the caching and using sensible values, however, so thank you for the information. We can discuss it further internally and make decisions as to whether or not to change it.

sobrenome reacted to bradybarrows in IPB Guest Posts Feature Useless because does not stop spam bots to post even Captcha is ON
Thanks. So I switched from the top choice to the lower post DISABLED and guests can still post before registering. We don't want any guest anymore to post unless the guest subscribes. There is some other setting that allows guest to post without registering or subscribing. Please assist.
Then I kept searching and found where the permissions are set:
ACP > Members > Groups > Guests > LOCK
and uncheck where the guests are allowed to post.

Log in to the ACP and type "Post before" into the search bar, and click the 'Post before registering' result.
Alternatively - go to System -> (SETTINGS) Posting and scroll down to the 'Posting' section

Our non profit has allowed guest to post without registering and now we want to turn it off and only allow guests to view and not able to post unless registering. How do I turn this off? I can't find where we allow guest to post without registering. Can someone please help me find where to turn guest posting off please? We can't keep deleting Russian spam which is relentless. Those Russians simply don't give up and find ways around the word filter.

I am still using the word filter, for example, the last spam had the following:
инвесторов
порно маленькими девушками бесплатно
are two examples above which I have added to the word filter. What I do notice is that there is less spam attempted, but they still get past the word filter somehow. I think the word filter helps but obviously isn't a way to stop this. I have no idea how they get around the word filter block.

IPB Guest Posts Feature Useless because does not stop spam bots to post even Captcha is ON
I open this topic
After investigation by IPB I am being told Spam Bots managed to go thru Captcha and post entries...
Unfortunately, this isn't going to work as you imagine for posts generated by spam bots since they typically won't load the editor/UI/JavaScript but make direct POST requests to submit content. I had to turn guest post off
I open this topic to discuss our what we can do about this spam bots....

I think opentype was trying to point out there that you were asking for descriptions of items which are described on that page

The cookies page, which is present on every installation, explains the cookies:

Hi Riccardo. As mentioned, these are self explainatory for the most part
ips4_IPSSessionFront - Holds the front end session
ips4_member_id - holds the member id
ips4_loggedIn - holds if a member is logged in
ips4_login_key - holds a login key
ips4_device_key - holds the device key

These are pretty self explanatory. 🙂
Used to track session ID and if a user already has a session.
Does the client device support JavaScript?
How is the forum view displayed to the user? (Grid, card, fluid)
Stores what time one is the user in
Tracks if a user has seen a notification in the notification menu
Used to track recently used emoji in the editor window.

Hello!
I need to know how these cookies work:
ips4_IPSSessionSetup
ips4_hasJS
ips4_forum_list_view
ips4_ipsTimezone
ips4_notificationMenuShown
ips4_recentEmoji
Thank you

sobrenome reacted to stoo2000 in Mail Bouncer - Automated Bounce Management
If your SendGrid API key is still populated in the SendGrid integration it'll still try to use it and check the web hook is configured properly - For example, you might still want to process bounces in response to a newsletter you've sent via a different platform without sending your Invision Community email via the same method.
If you temporarily enable the integration and then remove the API key, it'll stop trying to use SendGrid.
I will add a decay for the error messages to the next release so they'll eventually vanish.

It should be done this week 🙂

Thanks.
I don't update major releases until I get confirmation that all of my apps and plug-ins are marked compatible.
-
sobrenome reacted to stoo2000 in Mail Bouncer - Automated Bounce Management
It seems fine in my testing, PHP 8 compatibiity is the biggest issue in 3rd party resources and those issues were addressed in a previous release.
There is a small update coming however where I'll set the compatibility for 4.7

sobrenome reacted to The Dark Wizard in What is the current known version of OpenSearch to work?
Hey All,
We are looking at possibly replacing ElasticSearch with OpenSearch and according to some topics and posts around the community, this seems to be possible. This post in particular seems to suggest that 2.0 is usable:
However, we get a notice in the Admin Panel:
The same error message appeared with 2.0.1 and 2.1
However, 1.3.4 seems to work fine.

What version of Invision Community are you running?
-

Invision Community v4.7.0

I've tagged a developer to confirm if that should work here or not. Someone will be with you shortly.
