  1. Hi Mike, yes, it's always been a plain text for me.
  2. Hi Mike, thank you for this. I was wondering if you could alter the text to be rich text, so we could have paragraphs, formatting etc? Many thanks!
  3. Must admit, I'm interested in moving attachments to CDNs but I wouldn't know where to start either, and would be very concerned about unexpected cost, especially since my main community runs at 100% loss all the time and is run as a hobby. My members mostly post off-topic content these days, so the idea of paying to store it on top of my $55 a month VPS web hosting has held me back from looking into this, mostly because I didn't want a VPS over Shared Hosting but IPS4.x kind of pushed me to it with its demand for more resources. Some ideas of what Google/S3 cost small/med/large IPS communities would be useful before diving in, at least for people like me who run a community as a hobby.
  4. Thanks FP, yeah that's what IPS suggested actually. I think this mod, useful as it is, is probably more than I need.
  5. I respect that, it's how some of my other sites work but without Pages, however for my needs on this particular community I'm then forced to keep Pages and Forums, whereas I just want to buy and run the mod once, use it to move topics into articles with any existing topic replies then becoming comments on the article, then I can dispose of Forums permanently. The author should stay the same and tags moved over too once the mod allows it.
  6. Thanks Adriano. I don't grasp why you wouldn't want to move replies to articles comments. I'm obviously missing why that's preferable. Perhaps it's because I'm looking to remove Forums which are completely dead on one of sites (people seem to prefer to use social media for convenience), and fully switch to Pages instead. I'm actually looking to move my News articles which are topics that were shown on the home page via RSS, it's a one time transfer. Think I'm just going to have to move them all (about 200 topics) manually via copy and pasting, changing the date if the article each time to the original date of the topic unless I can figure out how to do it via phpmyadmin. Nightmare!
  7. Hi, Does this mod allow you to promote the first post of a topic to a new article, and the replies to the topic become the comments on the new Article, so that you can then delete the original topic? I just need to move my topics into Pages, so I can remove the unused Forums app. I don't need it to duplicate topics etc. Does it now move the Tags to the Article as well? Does it allow you to convert multiple topics to articles at once or do you need to to do them one at a time? Many thanks!
  8. I think it would be a great idea to have an official convertor. I too chose UTF-8 at the time, because I wasn't too sure about the choice and erred on the side of caution in the heat of the moment. The installer made it sound like it was more about being able to post music symbols and things which didn't bother me. Unless I dreamed that. I have slept since then. This is the sort of tool we need, I really miss the old AdminCP, the dumbed down version is a hinderence too with things like advanced options and caching, recounting etc hidden away or disguised behind an all seeing, all knowing mysterious support tool. But that's another story!
  9. I just upgraded to latest version from the version that used GoogleMaps (I had deactivated it for a while). Upgrade went well but new Bing Map had no map markers. Fixed it by going to AdminCP> Tools and Settings > Cache Management > Member Map tab > then recaching both the entries there. Map marker icons instantly came back on when I refreshed the Member Map in my browser. Hope others find this useful.
  10. Just downloaded this to update my existing Membermap. For info inside the download is a file Install Guide.txt but the link is broken inside ... "Server made a boo boo!".
  11. Hi, please can you give us a choice of Google or Bings Maps API's rather than force us to switch? IP.Gallery uses Bing Maps and they make you jump through hoops to use their API compared to Google which for the majority of users is free to use. Besides, surely if you hammer their free service you would be expected to pay something?
  12. Hi, I guess its a bit vague for those new to installing apps like this, but here's what you basically do to install it: You're done! Now add your marker from the front end. You'll find the map is zoomed in on to your if you have only your own marker, wait until someone else adds a marker and the map will look better, or you could add a custom marker in the AdminCP as a temporary measure. Download zip file. You then upload the files and folders into your forum's root folder via FTP or the File Browser in CPanel (the root folder is the folder on your server where the forum's files and folders live ie. yoursite,com/forums).Make sure you're folders 'public' and 'master' are still CHMODDED 777 afterwards.Go into the AdminCP and click on Manage Applications and Modules. Scroll all the way down the page to the section easily missed called Applications Not Installed and look for the Member Map. I then normally right click on the red link called Install to open it in a new tab for convenience.Once installed, you have to set the permission on who can view it etc.Go to the System tab > System Settings > and click on the IP.Board Member Map tab and then select General Configuration (a link straight to this in the App itself would be handy, Stoo!).Add your Google Maps API key to the relevant section by copying and pasting it. If you don't have one for your site yet, there is really handy link on the settings page to to take you to the sign up page at Google where you can quickly get your key. Just enter your domain name such as http://mysite.com
  13. Thanks Stoo, strange that. I never had this problem until recently. I wondered if it was a members avatar causing it, but they all seem okay to me. A person using a Flash avatar caused me some headaches with the map a few months back, but that person isn't on the map any more. If click the marker again, its still broken, no matter how many times I open and close the marker. If I log out so that I'm a guest without super moderator access, its still the same for me. Its still the same (broken) for me when I view in IE9 as opposed to FF 4.0.1 as well. They say its a small world! :)
  14. Hi Stoo. Thanks for the reply. I checked and the membermap.css file is showing as unmodified as well. Do you have any CSS in the ipbstyles/css sheet or anywhere else? Many thanks.
  15. Hi, I have just been to my member map 1.0.4 and noticed that the CSS in the pop up marker info boxes seems to have gone astray, but not all on all of them. Anyone seen this happen before? I thought the text only pop ups where someone's not got a photo/avatar were okay, but seemingly not all of them. I noticed Stoo2000's advice above about checking the skin templates and reverting them, upon checking all of my templates seem to be the okay, nothing to revert. The only thing I've updated or changed recently is upgrading my Gallery to v4.0.4 (for what it was worth). Here's a link to my map if you fancy taking a look? Many thanks.
  16. I noticed that Google Maps API v2 is now depreciated. http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/ Will you be moving over to V3 with this mod, Stoo2000?
  17. Quick question, when you add a permission for a member group to "delete location", does that mean only themselves? I don't want everyone to have the ability to delete everyone else's markers! Just my admin and moderator groups.
  18. Thanks Stuart, much appreciated!
  19. Hi, I've finally taken the plunge and installed your cool member map to replace my own existing map! I'll miss the Photo and Wiki layers and Streetview features of my old one, but yours is better integrated and easier for members to enter their markers. As I had 97 markers already on my old map, I worked out that I could import the coordinates into the ib_member_map table and they would show on your member map. I finally got it working after noticing that one of my members had a Flash avatar, and this breaks the map (it causes the map not to display at all, you just see a blank area). After removing this members marker, the map displayed perfectly. A member having a flash based avatar definitely breaks the map, it seems to be because the pop-up shows the members avatar. The error I saw in Internet Explorer was about an unexpected ) if this helps. One question though if you don't mind, can you take a look at your ib_member_map table and confirm for me the correct type for the lan and lon fields in the ib_member_map table as being float(13,6)? In trying to work out why the markers wouldn't appear, I noticed my existing map had coordinates with 13 decimal places and I thought this was the reason the map kept going blank until I realised it was the Flash avatar, so I tried various lengths in the float type to see if it was the problem, and now I can't remember if it was 13,6 or different to that! Silly me for not make a note of it before changing. Many thanks!
  20. Thanks Ian! I think Stu took a look back in March but there were some issues because mine imports all the markers into the map via a regularly updated XML file. http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/306966-download-ipboard-member-map-101/page__st__40
  21. Hi, I posted a link to my own member mod a long time ago in this topic and I'm thinking of switching over to your member map at some time because its better integrated, probably when its compatible with Streetview and Wiki, Photo layers etc if it isn't already and has different colour markers per member group if possible. http://millennium-th..._member_map.php In order to move over to your member map, I would need to move over the lat and lng decimal degrees coordinates that some of my members have entered into custom profile fields on my existing board (that's all they had do to to appear on my map). In ib_pfields_content there are two fileds: field_9 and field_10 that hold my members existing map lat and lng coordinates. When I install your member map add-on, I'd prefer to keep the members existing markers rather than ask them to set themselves up from scratch again, is it possible to set these members up on your map by somehow importing or copying/pasting these 2 fields into your database fields? Or is there more to it with your member map? Many thanks!
  22. +1 This is an oldish suggestion, but it's also one that appeals to me too. I have members in Secondary Groups (Community Volunteer groups, Honored Members etc). These secondary groups have their own Group Icons but they don't show up next to the member's posts, only Group Icons for the primary groups do. In fact Group Icons are not even shown in the member's profiles which has to be an oversight! I don't want to install a mod for this, I think it should be a built-in feature.
  23. Nice mod! I built myself a member map a few years back with the help from the guys at the Google Maps Newsgroup, its just a standard external web page that I link to. Someone suggested I make it an application add-on so that its integrated but I wouldn't have a clue how to do that, I've never made a mod. However, you are welcome to use it for any inspiration or features on your map. You can find it here. Regards, Graham
