    Group Mention

Dang, I was sure you'd found it. Alas, "allow filtering" is on.

    Group Mention

Perfect, thanks! Regrettably returns no results But aha! What is probably relevant is that the group I need this for (officers & board) is a secondary group. For what it's worth I'm not able to construct a successful secondary group query using the front end Advanced Search either. A successful query in the ACP looks like so: https://www.example.com/admin/?adsess=blahblahsessioninfo&app=core&module=members&controller=members&advanced_search_submitted=1&members_member_group_id=9&noColumn=1&csrfKey=blahblahcsrfkeyinfo

    Group Mention

Dang. I notice now that the mention is a link that presumably lists the members of the mentioned group (which would be handy). If I mention a group with ID=9, the link is constructed as follows, which returns no results. https://www.example.com/search/?type=core_members&group%5B9%5D=1

    Group Mention

Works good and very useful. Is there a way to style the resulting mention? I'd love it to match the core-style mentions. (Would LOVE to have it as an editor button somehow, someday )

Thanks Martin. In this case I'm the unhappy user … just in the process of setting up the site (so IP should be the same, I would imagine).

I have a puzzlement. I have membermap installed on two different forums and the behavior of the Location search box during custom marker entry differs between them. Expected behavior pulls a location when it matches a numerical street address: Happy map user On the other forum, a street address, whether numerical or not, never matches anything. It will eventually match a city name (which will be unhelpful if the streetname contains a city name): Unhappy user What I've done so far: used default theme - behavior remains the same (both forums) Mapquest key is identical (I use very few queries and never approach even half the limit - usually more like 1%) Generated new key for new forum - no difference Map providers are the same for both forums Disabled/enabled membermap in the ACP Ran ACP clear caches The main difference between the forums as far as I can determine is one is an Invision CiC (map works as expected) while the other forum is self-hosted. It's weird to me that the maps work, makers work, I can enter lat/lon manually, but the search feature alone (as far as I can tell) is the only thing that does not work the same. If anyone has any troubleshooting steps a newbie can try, I'd love to sort this out. Thanks!

Just to confirm … the location search box for adding markers has an intended granularity no finer than city? In US for example I can only find general locations by city, county, state. So should not expect to locate a street address for instance. I know this an IPS thing not a membermap thing but has any membermap user found a satisfactory workaround for removing large numbers of markers that belong to a standard usergroup (such as 'registered') but that have been flagged as 'banned.' I have hundreds and so far I can only remove them one by one.
  8. I'm probably not understanding correctly. When I edit my own moderator privileges to be able to set best answer in all forums, I can do that for anyone's question (thanks for pointing that out). But when I use a regular user account to ask a question, should I as question-submitter be able to mark best answer in my own question without being moderator? I don't know how to do that screencast thing but if I create my question forum in forums using the ACP → Forums, my Test User account can choose a best answer; if I move that question forum to Clubs, the user can mark a best answer, but if the question forum is created from the front end, from within the Club features, the test user account cannot choose a best answer — as moderator, I can (as shown in the screencast). Here I have created a question, answered it from my admin account, then visited as original asker. The user "Tess Case" does not have moderator permissions and would be regular user of the club question forum (created from within the club). Apologies if I'm misunderstanding how things are supposed to work.
  9. No worries. My edited post above will workaround for now
  10. Do IPS Q&A forums have best answer or mark solved these days? If I create a new topic/forum as Q&A it appears in question/answer format and I can upvote answers but as poster cannot mark a best answer. If I go to my ACP → Clubs and edit the club, I see the forum within it but it is set as discussion, not question. Odd. . If I set it to Questions and Save, it does not stick. I reopen the edit pane and it's back to Discussions. On the front end, it sill looks like a q&a forum. Edited to add: If I create a q&a forum in ACP → Forum and then use the deluxe "convert to club feature" feature, the q&a seems to look and work as expected, with a big "best answer" checkmark on each reply.
  11. New version is fine too Things that I've noticed in past that could be fixed include the gear icon allowing user to turn the entire block on/off (I believe it did for a while until the user settings panel was relaid out by IPS). I'd also like the "start new topic" link to appear in the recent topics block rather than (or in addition to) the "topics I've participated in" block (I don't enable that one).

I wish IPS offered a way to exclude spam-flagged members.
  13. Use question: Is there a way to set a "parent" category so that it cannot accept submissions, only its subcategories? Similar to the way we can set up a forum but set it to be a category to hold other forums instead of discussion forum itself. Or like the gallery category that contains albums but not individual photos. I have one sort of set up like that (no packages assigned to it) but the submit button still appears and reports a "no packages" error if used.
  14. Ah thanks. I'm on IPS's CiC so cannot connect to upload single files. I'll upload the new version in its entirety via the ACP when available.
  15. Bug or setup/configuration error on my part? Package display on advert creation don't seem to be honored. My test user is a regular member and theoretically does not have access to the "active member" groups discounted packages. If I set the "supporting member" group permission to can use classifieds without charge, that group is still shown every package I have set up (30/90/annual with and without discounts for active users). Overall, amazing application. Impressed.

I think that is probably the very purpose of Custom Markers. I'm not sure what you mean by bound to users. Users can create a marker in a custom group. For example, in your custom group Private Service Points I could add my favorite neighborhood mechanic, adding their phone number or web site or photo of their shop or whatever. The pin would display with the name I gave it (the name of the shop) and display the information I provide. It is bound to me in the sense that I created it and browsing the list of custom markers (as a database) will show me as the creator. As admin you can edit/delete everything. Feature request I would like to see a feed widget available to insert filtered (and sorted by defined criteria) marker lists.

Understood. No warheads; just seemed like a privacy thing for members who use readily identifiable usernames and may or may not want the world at large to know they are members of the community along with location information.

I must be forgetting/omitting a permission setting somewhere or perhaps I'm missing how it it meant to work. I would like guests to see one set of custom markers (Show Venues) but not the members' markers. This seems to work as expected for 'browsing' the marker tables but not on the map itself. Application Settings Member Map → guests (checked) Marker Groups → guests (checked) Marker Groups Members → guests (See Group, View Markers, Add Markers = unchecked) Show Venues → guests (See Group = checked, View Markers, Add Markers = checked) Group Permissions → guests → Member Map (See Group, View Markers, Add Markers = unchecked) Browsing groups works as expected. However the map itself still displays both members and custom markers with popups including name of member. Clicking the profile link on a member marker brings up the appropriate 'The page you are trying to access is not available to guests, but may be available if you sign in' message. I've reset the server cache via the map admin menu as well as flushing the site cache using the System Support tool. Pointers to what I'm overlooking appreciated.
  19. This is great … exactly what I was wanting. Seems to work very well too. Future upgrade idea: in the department setup it would be great if the notification could include a member-picker (same as the "post as" chooser) in addition to typed email addresses and groups. That way a redirection to a member doesn't go stale if they change their email address in the future. I do appreciate the typed-email address option (useful in organizations where roles do not necessarily correspond to Groups or even members). Question on formatting (no big deal): I was able to remove some line breaks and padding to "tighten up" the email notifications a bit. What controls the post-to-forum content? A multi-paragraph message seems to include extra paragraphs in the forum posting (emails look fine).

Just an idea for possible futures...possibility to have setting for each custom marker group shown/not-shown by default. This is such a cool app as it is and being free I feel rude for even thinking of suggestions!
  21. Just curious. Is there (or might there someday be) a way to exclude certain forums from the 'recently discussed' topics feed? I have a couple of RSS-fed forums that sometimes clutter up the recent activity list, diffusing the focus on live community members
  22. The cog setting is per-user. I don't know about overriding (I'm guessing no). The toggle to re-enable the plugin appears to be in the usermenu under Account Settings in its own tab. I'm hoping that a future update will move the Start new topic button to Recently discussed forum topics. I would like to disable the "participated" block but lose the new topic button if I do.
  23. The New Topic button appears to only be available if/when you have "show topics I've participated in" toggled ON. Bummer. In case you were wondering *where* to activate it, open your sidebar manager to access the page blocks and Edit the block.
