Lots of credit goes to @Matt Finger for this weeks update. He did a great job 👏

    Thanks @Matt Finger 🙌

I've seen some great icon customization add ons, but never have I seen the ability to create your own INSIDE the AdminCP. So that is really convenient and next level. Really looking forward to play with that. 🙂

  2. Amazing. Invision keeps on surprising me with every update here. 🙂

Would love to see how this goes into practice on a live community.

This approach will undoubtedly enhance the overall experience for community members. A general forum might not find this feature interesting, but more niche forums will. Newcomers will find it easier to identify the trustworthy members. Plus, having notifications for unanswered questions in specific areas of expertise is a fantastic way to encourage active engagement.

In my experience, response speed is critical for support-focused communities. But for more general interest communities, it might be the number of helpful votes or the quality of content provided.

Not just the selector or element class being targeted, but what are applicable CSS properties IPS may already have defined that can be used in those areas.  An IPS CSS Guide so to speak.

There are a lot of IPS defined CSS classes to control formatting, so I was just thinking along the lines of bubbling that up into the editor in some way (i.e. things like ipsType_normal, ipsType_bold, etc) versus a site owner creating new (and potentially duplicate/excessive CSS).  So it's both about exposing available CSS to use in target areas and then also applying them to the desired target elements for that theme (in the use case presented in the video, the option to use IPS CSS property XYZ and the ability to apply that all buttons or just to that singular target button).

The overarching goal is higher reuse of existing code and global/uniform application of that customization across the suite so look and feel remain consistent.  Not every IPS natively defined CSS property will be available as a UI feature, so having some editor level exposure and reuse of those natively available CSS properties is highly beneficial (at least in my eyes).

A list of CSS properties in a guide is a great idea!

  4. It's truly amazing to see how easy the theme editor is. The amount of possibilities are really endless. And that will definitely be fun to see various communities making their own version. Having a 3rd party theme designer create something like this custom for you is worth alone thousands of dollars. This version takes your community to a whole new level. I don't think people can really comprehend how much work goes into this.

Brilliant work team, well done. Couldn't be more excited to see more!

You think users would want to click to a new page after 5 posts? I don't.

Well, I think Joel's remarks are good ones. Especially the new page one. If you think of it, having less replies per page, will increase your pages per topics and that can reflect on your activity. Your topics could seem more active and users could assume that topic has more replies because we all the idea that a topic has 20-25 replies standard.

Licenses that are under the new terms that are not renewed after 24 months will be expired permanently and cannot be renewed.

Which is perfectly normal. Maintaining security and stability in a forum is crucial, and a 24-month renewal policy helps ensure that. So, it encourages users to stay up to date with the latest upgrades and security enhancements, and thus creating a safer and more reliable environment for community members.

Also from a business perspective, it also makes sense for Invision Community to implement such a policy. Think  platform's sustainability, allowing them to continue providing valuable services and support for us. So, while it might seem strict, it's a necessary step to secure your community and ensure Invision Community's future success.

Ehren is a superstar, he's barely scratched the surface on what he's been working on for the past six months. I'm really excited by these new views and the sidebar mode gives a very desktop app like experience, whereas the new mobile view is truly fit for purpose and not just a squished desktop view.

Definitely. I see a small resemblance to the theme illuminate, always have loved that theme. Keep up the good work all! Can't wait till v5 is completely done. It seems you have been pushing some very innovative changes !

  8. This is remarkable. I love the new content scrolling feature on mobile. I'm this

So Close Atp GIF by Tennis TV

close on dropping XenForo and migrating to Invision Community. 😅

Brilliant work to everyone involved. I love the new sidebar. Very cool to be able to link additional threads, forums or other features that are popular. Also, I didn't know Ehren was part of the IC Team. 😄 Good asset !

Beautiful tool, my forums are overrun with spam. Initially from Russia, now from Finland and Germany.

But when a admin in our community reports a user as a spammer, does IPS Spam receive a report to learn new data?

I would like to have a tool in Admin for mass management of users...

It may be worth checking in with Cloudflare and banning traffic from certain countries like Russia, China, etc. Navigate to the Firewall menu and select the "Tools" option. Choose "IP Access Rules" and create a new rule for the country you want to block. Select "Block" as the action and enter the country code or name you wish to block.

  10. I understand that the shutdown of the Marketplace is a huge shock to everyone, thinking it's the end of the world when it's honestly not.

3rd party developers will still be able to offer their applications, and with the help of @Joel R building a directory, that is bound to be good. Have a little trust everyone.

Also worth noting: Other forum software developers don't maintain an official marketplace and don't review codes or anything that is being released. It's entirely on the BUYER's responsibility to check for recommendations, reviews, sales, and reputation of the 3rd party developer. As always, think and do research before you buy and if it's too good to be true then it most likely is.

    Well,

A forum with thousands of people is not functional full day.

Can't upgrade, can't do anything, after a simple PHP upgrade, no safety net from you're side!

That is very frustrating. .maybe it's not the right platform for me.

You will run in the exact same issue with any other platform, I can guarantee you that. Neglecting maintenance is your problem to begin with. What you are doing now is shifting that mistake on Invision Community while it's a 3rd party add on bug. You need to investigate which add on, and contact the respectively author of that application.

By the way, when I am disabling the " forum", i get a UI back.  still think its an external app?

    Every thing is disabled already!

Just checked, it will most likely need an uninstall. But that will also delete the application without the ability to extract the files.

I would extract them from your file manager.
