  1. IPS disabled access to core theme CSS resources.

I've made note about how it's a big inconvenience when trying to revert changes to core CSS files after upgrading, as even if these core files you aren't supposed to modify have been modified in a previous release, there's no longer an easy way to access these files in order to revert the modifications to it in order to be compliant outside of development mode.

There is a trick to get around this that I can find for you when I'm back at my desktop.

  2. I look forward to seeing what updates you have to the reporting system. Making moderation easier is always a good thing for larger communities.

The gallery updates also seem very nice for the most part, though the navigation having a limited number of images it can display (or seeming to not display at all in the case of categories/non-albums with lots of images) is something I hope can be improved on.

  3. When you log into your AdminCP, underneath the System tab you should see an option that says Get Support near the very bottom.

Click on this and look for the System Log button,

    Could contain: Text

Click on this and see if there are any recent errors relating to tasks being ran, and if so, post the traceback of the details of the latest error here.

    Hi @Makoto

I have a lot of tags from a vbulletin import. One of the forum we had required prefixes for topic creation and I am trying to recreate this.

I go to the forum and then Radical Tags and turn on prefix mode but when I hit "Add Tags" a small blank drop down appears but I cant do anything else.

I am probably missing something simple if you could give me some rough steps to check

    Thanks

Have you set up any tags in the Customization page of the Radical Tags application yet?

You'll need to add some there, and then you can define which prefixes can be used in a specific forum if you need to.

That error would usually indicate an issue with connection to your MySQL instance. So I would first of all check the connection details, and also that you have full permissions on the database

If you're still getting the same error as before, have you checked and verified your MySQL credentials are working on your new server as Marc mentioned?

  6. Re-uploading the core files will only prompt you to update the applications you haven't already updated (in this case commerce)

It won't have any impact on the forums application, which has already been updated.

You could download the entire suite from the ACP and then upload upload the commerce/nexus application in the applications folder of that download, but I might suggest doing a full upload anyways just to make sure everything did get uploaded correctly when you did the initial upgrade.

IPS shouldn't let you upgrade if any of the files for a specific application weren't uploaded properly (so this means the forums, core software and other applications you updated should be fine), but it can't hurt to be extra sure.

  7. It depends. You ideally don't want it so small you end up having to make a crazy number of requests for larger uploads. For a 1GB file, you'd need to make 100 requests to finish uploading a file, which is a decent bit, but as this isn't sustained traffic it's not the worst thing. People with faster connections may hit you with a large spike of requests when uploading larger files, as a gig line can push 10MB of data in no time at all, so just need to make sure you can handle that if you want to keep it at a lower value.

You could increase it a bit if you wanted to reduce that overhead a bit, as 10MB is pretty low. But unless you're noticing performance issues, particularly when uploading files, it's probably not a big concern.

Hi, I have a little problem: I set Radical Tags on a forum but it doesn't work. I can't see the tags or the prefix that I set. What could be the reason?

Can you make sure you have these settings enabled under the Configuration option in the Radical Tags tab?

Could contain: Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone, Text

If they are already both enabled, can you check and see if the issue persists when you switch to the default/stock IPS theme?

  9. I think LTS is more important for enterprise, but yes, it's one advantage to consider. Upgrading at a large scale can be expensive and LTS is more important then. As I just manage my servers myself, needing to upgrade once every 5 years is not really an issue.

Both have good 3rd party repo support and both are quick to release security patches.

Personally speaking, I've had more stability and compatibility issues for my needs with CentOS than Debian any time I've had to use it, but it's really a matter of personal preference, both are fine, neither is better than the other in any significant way outside of maybe LTS.

If you're contemplating between the two on a new system, try working with both in a virtualized environment for a bit and see which you think feels better to you. Both are well supported and widely used.
