    OK,
    1. you created the backup of your present site and moved to the test subdirectory.
    2.Copied the original sql database in PhpMyAdmin to something like "test1"
    3. Went back into the test root directory and modified the conf_global.php where the line for sql database points to the new database "test1" While assuming this to be on the same server the sql user and password are the same.
    4. Changed the board URL to be pointed to the new location "http://forum.com/test"
    5. Go into the ACP - System - System settings. Go to General Configuration - Find "Path to 'upload' directory" below text box you will see the recommended uploads path copy and paste this into the text box. Do the same for "Upload URL" and Save. Do the same under the IPS Apps if you have the blog and gallery.
    6. Go to Look and Feel - Template Tools (In Left sidebar) - Rebuild Master Skin Data check all boxes including the 3 on the left. Hit Rebuild.
    7. (Above) Select a skin set - <All Skin Sets> Hit Recache Skin Sets.
    8. Go back to System - Cache Management - Rebuild Furl Cache - Rebuild Global Caches Cache - Recache All.
    9. Go to Applications & Modules - Manage Applications & Modules - Hit Recache Apps & Modules.
    10. Go to Applications & Modules - Manage Hooks - Hit Reimport Applications Hooks.
    No go to front end and refresh.... Do you have your test site?
    If this is still not working, what you may want to try (if you still have a copy of 3.4.6) is save these directories Cache, downloads (if you have it), hooks public, screenshots (if you have it), and Uploads. Also save the conf_global.php from above. Via FTP upload the fresh copy of 3.4.6 to this test site. If you do not have a copy of 3.4.6 then you will need to upgrade the live board to 3.4.8 and start this whole process over starting from the beginning.
    Good Luck and Merry Christmas!

    Is it possible to change the default populated field from Negative to Positive? So that members do not accidentally leave negative feedback whilst leaving a feedback score.

    No, it's hardcoded for 3 options, you can use the language system to rename them though

    I'll probably bring this back in a future version (this was in the 3.x version). I was having an issue displaying all of the data in the responsive theme.

    1. There seems to be confusion that Group Collaboration replicates the functionality of core apps for groups, but actually, the core app is still in charge the whole time and GC just manages the additional permissions and "groups" all app content together based on the the group it belongs to. This means that whatever features that are available in the app are untouched. So if you set up a pages database and allow it to be used inside of groups, then revisions are part of the options you use to set up the database in the ACP.
    2a. A group leader can choose how the group accepts new memberships. It can be changed by the group leader at any time.
    A "free join" group setting allows members to join without needing approval if the group is not full or the member has not reached any limits imposed by the site admin. An "approval required" group settings allows member to REQUEST membership. Any group member with "approval" permission will be able to accept them into the group. An "invite only" group setting removes the ability for outsiders to initiate membership on their own, and new members must be "invited" by existing group members with the invite permission. After a user has been invited, they can accept or deny the membership invitation. A "closed group" setting means that the group is not accepting any new members. Users cannot apply for membership, nor can group members send invites. 2b. Any number of "roles" can be created inside the group, and those roles can have different permissions and member titles assigned to them so you can differentiate between the members in your group. You can set a default member title for new members and also a member title based on the highest role assigned to them (and optionally change their member title on an individual basis). You could create a role for "New Recruit" to assign to new recruits if it suits your needs.
    3. A user has a "membership" to any group that they are a part of. That "membership" can be edited and has a notes section. You could decide as a site administrator what, when, where, and how you want to display that information via the theme layer.
    4. All post counts activity is kept as a separate tally inside the group. Based on how you configure the category, it can also add to global site counts, but all activity internal to the group can be tracked individual to the group as a whole, and on a member by member basis.

    Thanks for pointing that out. Since collaboration permissions extend the core IPS member group permissions into the collab group level, the core IPS is not aware of the additional permissions that need to be enforced. I'll make sure to hook into VNC and get that hooked up so everything can stay buttoned up tight.
    These two items are already built into GC. You can manage your collaborations by clicking your account username dropdown at the top of the page and clicking "Collaboration Memberships". You can transfer collabs that you are the owner of into the hands of another member.
    Any content containers ( such as forums ) owned by the collaboration group have their own permission matrix available through the collab management. When you see the permissions for "Guests", that would be referring to collaboration guests ( in other words, everybody that is not a group member ).
    These are all very great ideas. In fact, we've discussed most of them to a degree in this thread already and they will all be baked into GC for the next minor release.
    Originally, I had all of the collaboration management menu options in that dropdown when I built the prototype. During development at some point, I had realized that it would be prudent to give collaborations their own customizable menu to link to their own pages of interest, so I moved the collab admin menu to its current position and left the dropdown for the collab menu where it is.
    So to answer your question, that is where your custom links will eventually go.

    Group Collaboration does not modify or interfere with your forums index. Rather, it allows individual groups to have their own forums index, or gallery index, or calendar index, or whatever. It's designed to keep group content separate from your main site content so you don't have one obnoxiously unorganized "top level" site.
    I've put together some more screenshots for you. Hopefully this helps you to understand what's going on a little better. But nothing beats getting hands on with it. Make sure you download the demo version as soon as you get a site going!

    CG is separate from your Forum's and Forum index any groups setup are not displayed in the Forum Index. (or in the Forums Management in the ACP - or any other App)
    If you want to "advertise" the groups in your forums at this time I think we have to create banners or links that point to them until, future release does more promotion or awareness, (blocks etc )  from other contexts.
    I plan to have an "affiliate" group and then several affiliate sponsors will be able to manage and maintain their own forums / blog / gallery / download / calendar.
    However once I do this users looking at the forum index will not know they exists - as they will have to go elsewhere to view it. Hence we will have to at the very least mange and maintain a pointer in the main forums to the CG. (until other features come to light ) I am still in the planing stage and may also use iMenu app to make my own menus to assist with this.
    The nice thing is that based on permission people looking at VNC will be able to new content posted regardless if its in the main forums or any groups independent forums.
    @Christophe - if you have a test site I encourage you to download the demo version it's a great way to kick the tires. 4.0 makes it easier to install / uninstall apps.
    If I have time later I will make a walk thru video demo - if Kevin doesn't mind or someone else doesn't beat me to it.

    Nice idea.

    Remember, this is a "1.0" release of the hooks system. We wanted to keep it mostly simple (but make it as powerful as possible) so that we could gauge what would be useful to both modders and users alike, before going on a rampage trying to incorporate a bunch of things no one would ever use.

    We'd also like to give modders a way to handle the updates through the resource site at some point, but haven't worked out details on that yet.

    BomAleold reacted to Ocean West in Custom Profile Fields Organization
    after hitting my head against this feature it turns out that it not fully baked.

    You can create custom profile fields - Great!

    You can create custom groups for these fields - Super!

    When you look at a users profile this group is displayed - Perfect!

    When you are user editing your profile - is far from perfect, there is NO concept of your custom GROUP! instead fields are sorted if it is 'REQUIRED' or 'OTHER'

    So your carefully thought out fields organized in groups have ZERO organization for the user filling in the fields - its just a pool of fields with really no organization.

    Also one MAJOR oversight is the missing CHECKBOX for field options, this is severely needed!!!!!

    BomAleold reacted to Peter F. in Suggestion: #show_groups# (or #show_groups_asc#)
    I've a small suggestion to make with regards to the #show_groups# that people use in settings to display the multi_select group box. Something that has been a source of much annoyance to me for a while is that fact that the output of the shortcut is not sorted in any way at all, to remedy this I propose that the following code in '/admin/applications/core/modules_admin/tools/settings.php' be changed from:

    else if ( $r['conf_extra'] == '#show_groups#' ) { $this->DB->build( array( 'select' => '*', 'from' => 'groups' ) ); $this->DB->execute(); while( $row = $this->DB->fetch() ) { if ( $row['g_access_cp'] ) { $row['g_title'] .= "( STAFF )"; } $dropdown[] = array( $row['g_id'], $row['g_title'] ); } } to

    else if ( $r['conf_extra'] == '#show_groups#' ) { $this->DB->build( array( 'select' => '*', 'from' => 'groups', 'order' => 'g_title ASC', ) ); $this->DB->execute(); while( $row = $this->DB->fetch() ) { if ( $row['g_access_cp'] ) { $row['g_title'] .= "( STAFF )"; } $dropdown[] = array( $row['g_id'], $row['g_title'] ); } } or that a new conditional be added to detect #show_groups_asc# (to signify that the groups are sorted in ascending order) like so:

    else if ( $r['conf_extra'] == '#show_groups_asc#' ) { $this->DB->build( array( 'select' => '*', 'from' => 'groups', 'order' => 'g_title ASC', ) ); $this->DB->execute(); while( $row = $this->DB->fetch() ) { if ( $row['g_access_cp'] ) { $row['g_title'] .= "( STAFF )"; } $dropdown[] = array( $row['g_id'], $row['g_title'] ); } }

    I was thinking in lines of this.

    Lets say you have the following foreach block

    <foreach loop="$posts as $post"> /* Do the template parsing stuff here */ </foreach> When that's parsed from IPB HTML logic to PHP, if would be this

    foreach( $posts as $post ) { $post = $this->lookForForeachHooks( $post ); /* Do the template here */ ]

    Then lookForForeachHooks() would look for hooks used in foreachs, and pass $post to a function in that hook while it's iterating trough $posts.

    Hi,

    This error is server side, it shouldn't matter which browser you are using. You should look in your PHP error log to see if there are any errors recorded at the same time.

    Suggestion Feature: Use a custom field to compile your location. the custom field is added to the other into acp setting. then must allow the possibility of having a predefined range such as: Country, Region, City, other... + counter of number of users are located at that location!

    Also making the availability to add more than one location stating whether home location, work locations, and other type of locations!

    this is useful if you want to create a chat channels as having a "filters" on the basis of locations (city, region ...), but also by type of place
