Hexsplosions got a reaction from MadMaxMangos in removing facebook...
I dumped Facebook months ago and my users have not mentioned it once. It's just not worth the headaches IMO, with constantly changing requirements and demands made on our community.

This is why I dumped any form of Facebook integration. I got sick and tired of the constantly changing requirements and ongoing challenges I had to pass.

Hexsplosions reacted to annadaa in Badges look dated
Badges are important in the sense that they allow a quick visual to know a little about the credibility of the writer of the message if I may say so.
Maybe a simple registration date and a number of messages on a profile would be enough for some like you.
If not more widely, they also allow to integrate a gamification system in order to encourage participation especially towards new registrants and to make the profile system more informative and evolving.
This is the very first version and like very first version it is not the best but it will surely be improved over time just like IPS 1.0 was.
Whatever thing we're dealing with, whether it's writing an article or setting up a web page, I have learned over time that the best I think is not to render them. heavy things with lots of written or visual repetition by seeing the user as a person who does not understand anything at all and that must be repeated as many times as possible or make things that are immediately obvious with lots of colors or big visuals with the goal that he can not miss anything that we want to convey to him. Rather, it may make things difficult to assimilate and to scare away because it is too tiring.

Badges are a good thing but are not part of the main message for regular (and majority) users when opening a page.
Therefore, it should be less intrusive. Maximum a single icon can be on the main page of the message and with a maximum of discretion.
Because the goal is not to convey the main message of the page but to bring information to a new reader on a question which he asks himself "who am I in front?". He will have to search and he will find even if the information is discreet.
Regular users know that such is the moderator, credibility in his posts etc.
The gamification system is also becoming less useful for regular writers I think.
unlike instagram and other social networks, i don't think the old editors here are looking to have as many likes and badges as possible but rather to have their post read and accepted.

Hexsplosions got a reaction from CoffeeCake in Hide banned users and/or flagged as spammers (achievements)
We flagged a user as a spammer shortly after he registered, based on his first-post content.
The user and content have been hidden as is expected, but the user still shows in this block:

This detracts from the purpose of the block because it can (and will) fill up with spammers during an attack.

Log out of the ACP and back in again.
I had this and found out from support that the message does not clear unless you log out and back in. I wasted a lot of time on it.

We plan to add this feature but wanted to implement base Achievements first to see how people used them. But it will for sure be coming 🙂

That's why we really ask all clients to keep their details in the client area up 2 date or at least to verify them before they submit a ticket (AND REALLY verify everything 😂 )

Anyway, I'm glad that you brought this up so that I could investigate it on your system 🙂

I have no plugins that affect the topic view or forum view, so I can confirm the error occurred on the default theme with no plugins affecting it. The only 3rd party application/plugin I use is Chatbox, and that isn't on any of the affected pages.
The ticket I raised for this has been passed to the advanced support team.

No, I only use custom themes from Ehren and the default theme is left completely alone. The error occurs on the default theme with in forum view or topic view.

Hexsplosions reacted to watchhead in Achievements - When is a rebuild necessary?
It would be automatically rewarded to any member that meets the criteria no need for a re-build.
A re-build would only be necessary if you are changing the amount of points awarded for existing achievements.

Did you manage to figure out what was causing the error on PHP 8? I'm getting the same, but it works flawlessly on PHP 7.4.

Hexsplosions got a reaction from BomAle in Downgrade on renew license
It's a real shame because it used to be possible, but became difficult since renewal dates were all aligned. (Prior to that there may have been a different renewal date for gallery to the one for forums, which was confusing but was more flexible.)
Support have removed unused purchases for me in the past, to reduce the renewal cost for an existing license, but it meant I lost that purchase forever despite having paid for it. (I could not add it back on later.)
As a point of feedback for IPS, this led to me feature locking my community. I would previously have been willing to entertain a purchase of an application to test its use in my community, knowing that I could turn it off if not successful to save some money, and then back on again if there was a new demand for it, but I now won't entertain such ideas because paying a renewal fee for unused functionality or losing the purchase permanently if it's not required just isn't viable (it's essentially throwing away money).
