Mark H reacted to Olivia Clark in November 2022 Release Chat (Video)
In Invision Community's November Release Live Webinar, we discuss a few key features included in the next platform update.

@Charles gave us a review of some new moderation actions and more additions to our Events App.
We also covered the switch to PHP8 that is effective with this release.

Also, thank you David for your question! We are excited to bring the functionality for "paid events" to the Events App. This is in the early planning stages but we are happy to tease such a wonderful addition since it is "in the works". 🎉

Do you have a question about the November 2022 release? Feel free to ask in this topic.
Did you miss the webinar? No worries. We uploaded the video session for you to watch:

Please go to your conf_global.php file and remove anything refrencing IPB_Firewall (make a backup of your conf_global.php if you are unsure what is refrencing this). This is not our product and means that at some juncture while running version 3, your hosting was breached and this was added.

I, too, am very sad to see you go, Jordan. 😞
You definitely brought a positive vibe with you. 👍
But the opportunity you got was just too good to pass up. You'll do well there, I'm sure.
    Good on ya!

You will be missed, Jordan. I remember flying out to Las Vegas to meet you and when you ran up to me thinking "oh great, he's a hugger." I look forward to what you can do at AWS and expect discounts.

Just be aware that version 3.4 has been EOL for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.  It first came out in 2013 and was 100% end of life'ed in 2017.
While I realize it would take time, money, and effort to upgrade...  it means you're running software (IPB, Apache, PHP, mySQL) that are all highly out of date with many known security vulnerabilities.
The longer you wait, the harder it is going to be to upgrade.  It also means you potentially risk your community being destroyed if one of those security vulnerabilities are ever exploited.
At minimum, you should make sure you have some really good backups.  But even if so...  if it exploited, it could happen over and over again.

Invision Community is growing! We are excited to welcome a new team member to our Customer Service team so we can better serve you!
Please help me welcome …🥁… @Gary!

Gary has been a long-time fan and user of Invision Community. We are excited to have his experience and fresh perspective on our team.

This is what he had to say…

Share with us why you wanted to join the Invision Community team.
I have been a huge fan of forum software and creating websites in general for so many years and stumbled upon Invision Power Board whilst I was still in high school (circa 2004-2005). The first forum I created was on Invisionfree (that brings back so many good memories!) and I remember creating so many different types of communities. I registered an account at Invision Community in 2007 and always dreamed of creating a successful community, but finding a niche proved to be very difficult. Last year there were positions advertised at Invision Community, and whilst I was not successful then, I decided to apply again for the more recent ad and was pleasantly surprised when I heard back from the team: persistence is key! Personally, forums have always been a passion and hobby of mine, and to be able to spend time on them in an official capacity is such an amazing opportunity and I thought I could bring something new and fresh to the Invision Community family.

What excites you about this role?
Aside from having a passion for customer service and helping the community in whatever capacity I can, I am most excited about the freshness I can bring to the community. I am an advocate of working collaboratively internally and externally and I am really excited to see what Invision Community has in store for us all to maintain its standing at the forefront of modern community software.

Gary, we are so excited to have you! Welcome to the team! 🎉

Please join us in welcoming Gary in the comments.

Once you click on a provider's name (be sure it says "Available for hire") and it opens a new page with their profile there is a Contact me button under their photo. Some buttons will simply open a new PM, others will redirect to an external site. It depends on how the user setup their contact information. 👍

Mark H got a reaction from Alex Duffy in Error after update v4.7.3
That's a somewhat generic statement in the text there. It's actually creating a new, unedited, Theme.
Be sure to choose Manual Mode, then name it, check Locale, set as front-end default, and save. Don't change anything else, even colors.
Once it's saved, check one last thing. On the new unedited Theme, click the </> icon to its right to open the template editor, click the CSS sub-tab, and find the template titled custom.css

That should show exactly what is in my screenshot (taken on a cloud site I have for testing). I.e. there's nothing in the file except that block of text (which is commented out with the /**.... **/ tags).
Is that different than what you see in your new Theme?

Randy's suggested steps would be the correct way to diagnose this.
Leave the app enabled, but change the default Theme which is used on the front end to one that is unedited. (If you have no unedited Theme you can create one on the ACP -> Themes page by clicking the green "+Create New" button; give it a name, set the locale to US English, set it to be the default Theme for the front and save, changing nothing else.)
Then login on the front end, make sure you are using the unedited Theme, and perform the tests which Randy noted above.

In addition to possibly being related to the 3rd party resource, as you're using a custom theme... it's also possible it was a problem with the theme itself.  The areas it is noting in the area involve navigation, which was updated recently.  So it's possible your custom theme was never updated to reflect those changes.
I would suggest testing the site with the 3rd party app enabled, but with a default theme.  If it continues working, the problem would be in your theme.  If it does not work with the app enabled on a default theme, it would indicate it's a problem with the app itself.

As Adriano mentioned, this would need a 3rd-party solution to really duplicate the Global Message format, but you can likely use Announcements to accomplish what you need.

I was not going to note that in case you did not want it publicly known those were the IPs used for your VPN. When those were shared with me, it was done via PM.  As a result, I operated under the impression it was not meant for public posting.  😄
Better coming from you than me. hahaha

Just to clarify one item... those 3 IP Addresses provided initially, starting with 50 or 67, were/are the IP Addresses of our corporate VPN, which we in Support would use to connect to your install.
However, they are not related to remoteservices.invisionpower.com and would not be used by the ACP automated upgrader, update checks, or license checks, for example; they are used only by IPS Support.
As my colleague mentioned, you would need to whitelist the domain rather than an IP, or IP range, in order to be certain not to block a legitimate callout to remoteservices.invisionpower.com during the upgrade.
