  1. No push notification support yet though. That’s all I care about an app for.
  2. Until iOS supports, I just don’t see it. I dunno about you guys but > 50% of my mobile traffic is iOS
  3. All I can say is keep hammering google about it. It’s not an invision problem unfortunately (or it would likely be fixed by now). The more people posting about it with google, the more likelihood of a reply. I don’t know if any of the IPS staff have any contacts at the big G, but if you do, this would be a good one to try and pressure them to solve. The increase to monetization is significant (which is a huge plus for your customers) but the overlap issues make it unusable.
  4. It would be ideal given Adsense has to be one of the most popular revenue generators for forums.
  5. To be clear, I like the auto ads for text and display. They've picked a few new spots (some additional sidebar ads as an example) that seem to work well. I'd recommend turning it on, but only for text and display ads. The rest is a big fat meh.
  6. User experience for everything except the first type (text & display ads) is awful. Seriously. Don't bother. Revenue has doubled even with just the first type turned on. Might be a blip due to new ads causing click confusion. Will wait a month to see how it averages out. Yeah I got that too. It's pretty awful.
  7. I just added the ad code in with my analytics code through the ACP. Analytics code goes in the <head>, so it works perfectly!
  8. Any assistance on getting the adsense login working would be appreciated.
  9. I'm so excited you took my post about Bing seriously! I bet someone at Microsoft employed to monitor references to Bing in social media/forums is super happy right now. Being taken seriously rarely happens with Bing.
  10. Anyone check with Bing? Maybe it's gone up with Bing. Bing is usually pretty happy to index whatever!
  11. I'm obviously just speaking as a consumer, but there is also a point where you step back and realize IPS has a relatively small team for the scope of what they already support. There are companies out there devoted entirely to being consumer to consumer storefronts. With the new OAuth features in 4.3, I'm somewhat inclined to argue that IPS would be better served by making it easy for us as customers to integrate with these other platforms (and to the extent IPS realizes there are some extremely popular integrations and builds in some specialized community-first features to enhance those integrations, that's great) and focus on the core community products that are key to IPS. Even with Commerce, IPS will never be (and shouldn't be trying to be) magento or shopify and simply don't have the resources to compete in that area of e-commerce. Expanding their offerings into p2p e-commerce will increase the complexity of the core offerings, and unless they can scale revenue and staff to match, would presumably slow down development of the other components. If the future of IPS is a great community platform that seamlessly integrates with other more specialized software packages for various uses, I personally will be a happier customer than if they try to please everyone and end up stretching themselves too thin.
  12. Aren't these all noindex'd in the software? They appear to be on my forum. You don't need a robots.txt to duplicate noindex tags.
  13. Unless it’s changed recently, I don’t think there is a robots.txt in the 4 series download.
  14. No guide that I know of, but you can compare the directories of a clean ips4 install (just check the zip) and your own site and wipe out the directories that don't exist at all in ips4, as well as the root files that don't exist.
  15. Any chance the linked could be integrated?
  16. I get that - I just wasn't sure if you meant the only thing you need to add to get friendly URL's to work is the try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php; or try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$arg config option in your nginx virtual host config.
  17. Do you mean the ones in the .htaccess file generated by ips's security centre?
  18. Can you expand on this topic? Part of the reason I am not using nginx is that I'm way more comfortable with apache - friendly URLS and replacing mod_rewrite is one of the areas I feel extremely deficient in understanding how nginx does it. does try_files work as a replacement for friendly URLS? How would you protect the uploads folder?
  19. Is this still true in respect of 4? I have this working on 3, but cant get it working on 4 on my test install.
  20. Running 3.4. Want to finally upgrade to 4. My server is running ubuntu 12.04LTS. I am using default repos, so my versions of apache and php are quite dated (albeit continue to receive security updates backported under the lts program). What is the best strategy to go from 12.04LTS (php 5.3, apache 2.2) to 16.04LTS (php 7, apache 2.4)? My plan was to spin up a new VPS with a fresh ubuntu install, get it set up properly with current updates, and then copy over my web files and database and run the converter. However, I understood from a few other threads here that perhaps it wouldnt be the smartest decision to run conversion of 3.4 under php7. How did other people do a major OS update at the same time as a jump from 3.4 - 4? I also have a number of tables in MYISAM - does the converter take care of changing over to INNODB, or do I have to do that manually. If manually, ... how?
  21. I'm getting closer and closer to feeling ready to do this. There's a lot of info in this thread. Is there a post I should be looking for that compiles most of it, or should I make sure to go through all 20 pages? My biggest area of need is a tutorial to convert myISAM tables to Innodb.
  22. @Makoto, this is kind of off-topic, but 1) Love this guide, and when I've got enough time set aside to test an upgrade and go through in production, I'm sure this will be super helpful as someone with (very) limited server admin experience (I followed enough guides to get a secure LAMP stack up to run IPB, but that's it). So first off, thanks for taking the time 2) Any chance you would be willing to do a short summary of what a dedicated IPS server might also have installed by way of mariadb (and version), php (and version), any specific thoughts on php functions to disable/enable, which php accelerator to use, etc etc etc. Kind of "hey, once you've followed a guide to setting up a VPS and followed the guides on securing your admin user and getting fail2ban and other recommended stuff installed to make it safe, here's your LEMP stack specifically tuned for IPS 4". That's a big ask, but you seem to be the active admin with tips around here, so figured I'd ask
