  1. Thank you both - there are actually a few variations to be found when searching, so it took a bit of trial and error.. which is why I was asking if anyone knew specifically what worked with Invision. Plus yes, there did appear to be some sort of issue on the server side, which they sorted out for me. So we finally got there.

  2. I've been using PHP to send emails from my forum, but have been using a gmail address. For some reason this stopped working around the 7th December. To complicate matters, I don't have access to the server, as it's paid for by someone else, and she lets me host my forum on it. I have tried the support team, and they're having problems working out what's wrong. They have advised me to use SMTP instead.. but I have tried every combination of settings for this, and nothing seems to work. Can anyone tell me which SMTP settings should work please?

    Many thanks...

  3. Thanks to you both.. I appreciate that it won't do it automatically, I was just wondering if I'd need to sort out ftp myself.

I have a co-admin, who back ups all the files, database etc, but I don't want to bother her if I don't have to. She's also made a very basic skin, so hopefully she can put that back after the upgrade.

  4. Hi - I'm sorry if this has been covered, I did search, but couldn't find anything. Invision support have kindly done our upgrades for me over the past few times.. I've had problems with ftp in the past, and lost confidence in doing it myself. However, they have said that now we have version 4, upgrading is simpler. I'm running and we now have the notification to upgrade to Can I confirm how this now works, is it done more automatically from within the AdminCP, or will I need to use ftp?

    Many thanks. :)

  5. My members are not happy with the new editor. This was the initial complaint..

Has anyone gotten their head around how to quote only a part of someone else's post? I can quote their entire post, but when I delete the parts I don't want I lose the indentated 'quote section' and it appears as regular text. Also, quoting multiple posts..... thud.gif...... my reply appears as part of the original quoted text. Very vexing! Can anyone help? ohmy.png
The best solution we can give them is to use the 'switch' and change to BB Code. However, forums need to be as user friendly as possible, and this certainly isn't.
Also, I've told them that Invision are bound to change it if people are unhappy, but it sounds like I might be wrong there. :(
  6. An oldish thread I know, but I just wanted to give my support to all things simple. I run a fairly small book forum, and I simply don't have the time to learn how to use IP.Content. I did buy it when I first bought the forum software, but got stuck right at the beginning. IP.Portal is perfect for me, and I'm not sure what I'll do without it. I've also just bought IP.Nexus, even though IP.Subscriptions was doing just what I wanted.

Not all of us are running complex sites, some are just small simple forums.

  7. I'm another one who would love a notification when someone posts a response in the report centre. We sometimes have an reported person/issue we wish to discuss, and we end up starting a new topic in the mod section and moving it there. It would be nice if we could simply continue the discussion in the report centre, and all be informed when there is something new added. :)

  8. I'm using 3.1.1
