SecondSight reacted to Ehren in Invision Community 5: Badge creation and icon customization
Invision Community offers fantastic ways of customizing the user experience for your members, and today, we’re excited to introduce some new and really simple ways of customizing Invision Community 5 even further using our new icon tools.
    Β
    Icon Picker
Lets begin with our brand new icon picker. Containing both Font Awesome icons and emojis, the new picker allows you to easily search and assign icons to specific areas throughout your site. Lets take a look at some examples!
    icon-picker.mp4 Β
    Navigation icons
Adding icons to the navigation list has been a highly requested feature, so we're happy to announce that you can now use this new picker to do exactly that, for both the horizontal and vertical navigation panels, without needing to modify your theme.

    Β
    Forum icons
Uploading forum icons is a great way to personalize individual areas of your community. In the past, these icons have typically been images, uploaded via the admin panel. In addition to the upload form, the icon picker now makes it a breeze to assign icons to forums - and if a Font Awesome icon is chosen, it'll even inherit the featured forum color.

    Β
    Forum Feature Color
We have brought the existing forum feature color to feed view allowing for a flash of color and personalization that helps associate a color with a specific forum. The feature color pairs really well with the card image to lift the forum display.

    Β
Icon creator for badges, ranks and reactions
Creating unique badges, ranks and reactions is a great way to boost activity within your community by encouraging members to share more engaging and frequent content - but designing these icons from scratch using a graphics program often comes with hurdles of its own.
With our new icon creator, you can now design your own custom icons for badges, ranks and reactions straight from your Admin panel, using a combination of colors, icons and shapes.
    icon-creator.mp4 Β
    Β
We think this new icon creator will make the rank, badges and reactions features even more accessible for everyone, allowing you to create a user experience that is uniquely yours. With Invision Community 5, bringing in customization and personalization moves beyond adding new themes.
We're excited to see how you can take advantage of these new tools, and we look forward hearing your feedback in the comments below!

We are currently in the beginning stages of developing a Courses and Lessons application within Invision Community. This will only be available on our cloud services as a value addition.
We receive regular requests for Learning Management System (LMS) capabilities in Invision Community and the Courses app will start us down that path.Β
The Courses app is not going to try to be a full LMS. Not trying to run a university here πŸ™‚
But we do think there is value in offering basic LMS capabilities within a community context.Β Some features we are already doing:
Ability to create Courses with multiple Modules Modules can have multiple content items that a member can read/engageΒ (articles, videos, discussions) Courses can be made optional or required. Required courses can be defined as "do this first" or literally required as in you must take course within X days of joining community. Badges/points awarded on various completion events. Reports for those who enroll and/or complete a Course. Reports can be exported to CSV. As this is early development we are open to ideas and suggestions.
    How might you use Courses?
What capabilities would you want to see?

Yes. Login to the ACP. Click on the bell in the upper right corner and then choose β€œNotifications”.

The above is correct. Ensure it's the ACP you are in and not the front end, as we're had people who have confused the 2 in the past.Β
'ACP->Bell Icon in top right->Notification Settings'
Here you will find not only the setting to be notified for this to your email, but also many other items you can be notified about should you wish to do so. These are account based, so you would be changing them for only yourself. Any other admin who wish to get notifications can do so in the same manner.

SecondSight got a reaction from SeNioR- in Posts site links are moderated
    Hello, πŸ™‚
After upgrading to 4.7.7 today, I noticed that all new posts containing a link were held for moderator approval.
I went in the ACP / System / Settings / Posting and disabled Links Filtering option : IΒ had chosen the « Allow any links apart from the links specified Β» option. Now I use Β« Allow any link Β» and it looks like it’s ok.
Have you encountered the same problem ?
    Thank you πŸ™‚

SecondSight got a reaction from SeNioR- in Display problems on phones and tablets
    Hello, πŸ™‚
Some of my board's members have reported display problems on phones and tablets. They say there are horizontal lines, like on the below photograph :

As for me, each time I switch my tablet on, I look at my board in Safari browser and I see my board is 200% bigger than it should be. So, each time, I have to reduce it's size because it's too big.
Do you know how I can fix these problems ?
    Thank you. πŸ™‚

SecondSight reacted to Randy Calvert in spam
If they’re old and never used, they were most likely registered by the spammer months ago and β€œsaved”. Many sites have rules that restrict accounts less than XX days old (say 30 days). Β

I would be more inclined to believe it was a data breach elsewhere if it was long term member accounts that had historically been active and participating on your site suddenly spamming. But an account that was registered and never used that surfaces months later does not scream external data breach.Β

Thank you. It looks like this was the solution for me too (I didn't remove the file, just renamed it). πŸ™‚Β

But I had to edit and publish the menu again to make Links' link appear.

Yes, that's what I thought first, but permissions and files are okΒ (and it's an image, a thumb file, and another files are ok, so nothing important - my uploads directory is 54 Gb big).

SecondSight got a reaction from Ibai in Remove the "And 6 more" in menus
    Hello, πŸ™‚
Suggestion : remove the "and 6 more" in the menus and show all items in the menu instead, or allow to choose.
Hiding the menu items (and thus the content) with a "And 6 more" is making things complicated for the user and is not attractive.
Keeping things simple for the user is important.

SecondSight got a reaction from OptimusBain in Validating and deleting members : becoming very difficult...
    Hello !
Today, I wanted to deleteΒ  very old members belonging to a specific group and who had no content at all.
So I made a search and it returned 6 pages :

Then, I saw that there was no checkbox to deleted all members in one click...
So I told myself I had to delete each member at a time... I tried deleting one member and I got this :

What I think about this option :
    Β
Anyway, I went ahead and, after deleting the member, I saw that I was back to... the members' page. Moreover, I had to do the whole process again...

So is there another and fast way to remove these members ?
Same question for validating members :
Managing members on IP Board is becoming really difficult... unless I'm not doing it the right way ?
    Thank you.

    Thank you. πŸ™‚
EDIT : sorry, I found the answer just when posting this topic... You edit the first post and you need to clic on the "Poll" tab, just under "Edit topic", at the top...

    Hello, πŸ™‚
I've noticed a problem with members whose accounts are moderated : to bypass moderation, once their content has been approved, they simply edit their posts and add unwanted content in it...
I'm going to add the members to a group which can't edit their posts... but, is there an option to fix this or is it a bug ?

SecondSight got a reaction from Ryan Ashbrook in PHP version and community not working...
    Thank you. πŸ™‚
I ran the script after "upgrading" to PHP 7.4 and it told me what is missing :
    - cURL PHP extension
    - GD PHP extension
    - MySQLi PHP extension
    - Zip PHP extension
    - Exif PHP extension
I will have them installed and I think it will be ok. πŸ™‚

When you upgrade, upload the requirements checker and it should tell you what is wrong.
However, based on my experience with cPanel / WHM, it's likely that the mbstring extension is missing, so you would need to enable it in the version you are upgrading too.

SecondSight reacted to Matt in Hump Day: A Refresh Has Arrived!
I want to thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate everyone who took the time to leave their thoughts and concerns. I've read every single one and replied to almost all of them.
Firstly, I want to say that I understand that the messaging that went out ahead of this update fell short of what you deserve, and I want to apologise for that.
After spending two days reading every single post, almost all concerns fall into these three areas:
    1) The future of support
I've seen many people use the phrase 'no more support', which isn't true. I know the change from ticket support to staffed community support is a significant change, but I genuinely believe that it will benefit customers. I believe that we can create a living knowledge base of solved issues just like many brands do. For example, when I have a problem with my iPhone, I google it and invariably end up with a link to a topic within their support forums with a solved answer. I don't need to raise a ticket with them and wait for a reply.
There are many "what about" concerns mixed in, and I ask you to try the new staffed community support areas and give us your feedback once you've used it regularly. We will work with you based on that feedback and make improvements where it is needed.
We have custom functionality that shows our team links to your client accounts, including license keys, etc., so we know who you are and have all your information right next to the topic. You will never need to divulge personal information, or even your site URL if you do not want to.
If your support issue is complex or needs developer intervention, with a click of a button, our technicians can convert this into a ticket for you and we will continue to resolve the issue with you in that ticket.
You will be in safe hands.
    2) Price Rises
We have not raised our prices for well over a decade. We've always been reluctant to do it and held off for too long, resulting in a large jump to make up for a lost time.
We can't reduce the prices to their pre-September levels, but we will be much more mindful of price rises in the future.
    3) Annual Renewals
We want to simplify billing and reduce the number of invoices we need to send, and you need to pay. An annual invoice seemed logical to achieve this.
However, you have made it clear that moving to annual renewals affects your budgeting, and we have listened to that.
We have reverted this decision and have restored 6-month renewals in your client area. This is not a temporary one-off offer; it's a permanent change.
Again, I want to thank you all for being so vocal and passionate about Invision Community. We want to keep offering you the very best community platform to help your communities succeed.
