Personally I'm using CiC now so that I don't have to worry about it anymore.
But for sites in AWS, I utilized its backup capabilities to backup both my web servers and database server.
Prior to that, I utilized DirectAdmin as a control panel and used its built in daily backup system.
I also have a Synology SAN at home, so I used it to make an offsite weekly backup using ActiveBackup to rsync the site once a week.  I also had a cron script that exported a copy of the database on a weekly basis (overwriting the old version) that ran an hour before my ActiveBackup job ran so that I would have a recent export of the database as well.
That gave me a backup local on the server that was done daily and a weekly backup that was stored off-site (at home).

What's that saying "its the best thing since sliced bread!"
I have used an FTP program to download the files which takes ages but using File Manger in CPanel, right click on the Forums folder then Compress gives you zipped up full file backup of the all the files.  Or even quicker open the Forums folder select the lot then exclude the Uploads folder for an event quicker backup with all the uploaded images/video etc. which is enough for a restore after a failed upgrade.
As for database, its even easier.  Select Backup from CPanel then click on the database you want to backup, soon you get a file downloading (a compressed SQL file) of the whole database.  Easy to restore too, just use the "Restore a MySQL Database Backup" from the same place.  You can also use the same file with phpMyAdmin and import it to a new database to give you a copy.
Because I know my way around this tool, a full back up before an update takes minutes.
I suggest you take another look at CPanel...

I have moved this to it's own topic as it is no longer a "Feature Suggestion" but rather it's own self-hosted discussion.

    hi Invision team
In WordPress, we can easily backup by installing some plugins and save it in a file storage (google Drive and etc) And whenever the website has a problem, we restore it, although all this happens automatically.
Thanks for including this feature in future updates!

This is great … exactly what I was wanting. Seems to work very well too.
Future upgrade idea: in the department setup it would be great if the notification could include a member-picker (same as the "post as" chooser) in addition to typed email addresses and groups. That way a redirection to a member doesn't go stale if they change their email address in the future.
I do appreciate the typed-email address option (useful in organizations where roles do not necessarily correspond to Groups or even members).
Question on formatting (no big deal):
I was able to remove some line breaks and padding to "tighten up" the email notifications a bit. What controls the post-to-forum content? A multi-paragraph message seems to include extra paragraphs in the forum posting (emails look fine).

You select a department to create support request, as you can see in your own screenshot, not to user choose.

Believe you may be thinking of support requests rather than the contact us form. The contact us form has always just been what you see now.

A meting booking functionality would be great. It's basically like the current daily calendar with the ability to RSVP, but instead there would be the option to do so in a, for instance, hourly fashion.

Another vote for this please! I'm currently looking at using 3rd party integrations such as Zapier to manage another calendar booking system. Would be lovely to have something native which allowed tracking of meetings within the IPB user accounts.

Forums are designed to bring people together, sometimes in meetings, events, virtual or in-person. Availability planners like Doodle are great. They allow you to coordinate availability.
An IPS plugin to coordinate availability?

OMG am I dumb ass trying to make this more complicated than it is.  I have been trying to format the correct API URL with key this whole time when all you have to do is enter the 6 digit API key and the secret phrase.
Sorry for wasting your time but in about 10min of your time you helped me get something working I haven't ever had working since I purchased links over a year ago so thank you for being smarter than me.  🙂

Hi Michael.J. So I applied the update and I still got an error, I uninstalled and reinstalled and still get an error. If I I disable Forms, the error goes away? Is it your application or something else? Thanks Alex

Thanks again for your continued support for FORMS app.
Your update (1.4.6) has cleared up the PHP8 Incompatible ERROR I was receiving but it brought another error which only displays when FORMS is enabled and goes away as soon as I disabled the FORMS app.  And yes I tried three different themes and the same error exists.  Just figured you might want to know.

Thanks for your reply and consideration of including any of it in the future.  I do like what your doing but always want more.  🙂 I do believe the suggestions would bring the Forms to a new "awesome" level.
    Thanks again

Thats how you would do it if you want to use cross referencing, yes. In all honesty, what you are trying to do isnt really the purpose of cross referencing. I would suggestion just creating that field on each of your databases as a select field unless you do wish for people to be able to click to a state and see a state record

Thank You @Adriano Faria that worked.
In ACP I click on Customization - Appearance - Themes
On the default theme I clicked the </> icon to Edit HTML and CSS
On the left under Templates I scrolled down to quizzes - front - browse - subCategoryRow
Almost at the bottom of that template I saw the following

Made the correction you mentioned in your post above and clicked Save

Now all is good and it works.  Nice work and thanks again

Cowboy Denny reacted to Adriano Faria in Quizzes
Open the template Quizzes -> front -> browse -> subCategoryRow. You will find in that template {{if method_exists( $table )…
    Change to {{if $table and method_exists…
If it isn’t $table, it will be something else. I’ll make sure to fix it next version.
  25. Thanks

First wanted to say I do enjoy this product. Thanks for making it.
I have a weird template error when using subcategories that I'm hoping you can help with.  I'm using Default Invision Community theme and I did click System - Support - Get Support and cleared cache (as it suggested) but no difference.  I also disabled any customizations and no difference.
Have you seen this before and if yes, could you share the fix?
    Only happens when using subcategories.

Here is the system error log if it helps at all
