Don't worry about this. I missed the glow portion and the green works fine. Works comes to worse I can change it using some .css to match my color not that big of a deal.
Nice looking forward to this. Keep up the great work.

I purchased this because of all the updates you have been doing. A couple of things I have noticed.
First off this add-on no longer makes the topic starter add-on work. Is there anyway just to say have when not using the online pip instead of the glow feature just to have a standard color, like the example below?
Plus a spot to put the hex # color in the box to set the Online/Offline color. It would keep everything clean and inline. Or just a spot do disable that "glow" feature?
        3. I also noticed that the Last activity sometimes gets broke depending on the day.

        4. Also I noticed this add-on shrunk down my users avatars. Is there anyway to make it so it does not overwrite these settings?
It's a great addon and keep up all the updates and changes.

So now that Chat app is dead how do we completely remove it? I went ahead and went in my ACP and under application I went ahead and uninstalled it. It will still show under applications not currently installed. Does IPB plan on cleaning it up and on the next update having it removed completely and the files associated with it? Just wondering how you guys are going to handle it?

You can uninstall it and, if you want, delete the directory.
We removed it from all generated downloads when the service closed, so any downloads since then won't include it, and the next upgrade (which for most people will be 4.1.19.3) will disable it.

In the 4.2 alpha release it is gone. If it's not removing on upgrade maybe report this in bug tracker. It may be we'd need to remove this manually but since they are discontinuing chat it seems logical to me to have it removed automatically upon 4.2 install/upgrade... But what's logic to me may not be correct

I'd say just (only after it is uninstalled!) delete the /chat directory from within /applications
It won't show on the list then at all.
Note: only the "chat" directory from within the /applications directory:

Pic from 'wamp' localhost but you see what I mean hopefully. , I would say if in doubt leave it rather than risk deleting something you may need.
It may be possible to write a small script to delete it aka 'unlink' however the sucess of that would depend on if it has sufficient permissions to chmod and then remove said files...
I'm not aware of a 'cleanup' type script for it as such though but I do not deal with any client support / requests as such.

I agree. I thought about making a thread like this. I like they should really use some like Emojione or similar. I see Xenforo 2 also went with new ones. Not to be mean but it makes me not want to use the built in similes currently in IPB4.They just feel so outdated and don't blend in with the rest of the software. It would be a good time to go with a modern standard with the upcoming 4.2.

I have already sent you a private message over this matter, but you do deserve a public apology over this matter.
I am sorry regarding my remarks that I made without first actually checking for myself and just presuming from a few comments in the reviews section. I should have contact you myself and been informed from first hand experience.
I apologise for doubting your sincerity or your character on here. My bad.

? Yes, I was far too busy swimming Scrooge McDuck style in my pool of $10 bills to reply to anyone who messaged me.
Had you contacted me, I would of course have been willing to help you with that issue. I would have told you how using native browser style rather than EmojiOne will load much faster. I would have offered, as I have done for other people, to make a custom build for you with certain categories removed for faster loading. I also would have been willing, if none of that was acceptable, to refund your precious $10.
Maybe next time give that a try ?
By the way, I make mods for fun, and to make features I think are cool. If someone pays me to make a mod specifically for them, I do keep that, but for everything sold on the marketplace, I give the money to a local charity which runs programming classes for kids in the city I live in. So yeah... screw you, buddy.

Speaking as a user - I don't think it's really feasible to get rid of Emoticons entirely. For instance, there is no Emoji replacement for my personal favorite:
I definitely agree, though - we can place more emphasis on Emoji once we are able to officially require MySQL 5.5.3 as the minimum version (currently, it's 5.1 - at least 5.5.3 is required to use full unicode in MySQL).

I think it is time to deprecate IPS4 Emoticons in favor of industry standard Unicode 9 Emoji within IPS4.
This is a small change, but much nicer for users. Standard Unicode characters for Emoji are more diverse than Emoticons as there are Emoji for Symbols, Flags and many many other iconic characters that can enhance reading boring text.
IPS4 Emoticons simply date our sites as last decade... Time to move on...

A lot of the page speed insights require server-side configuration changes and aren't controllable at the software level, however having said that, I'm actually in the process of reviewing page speed reports for an upcoming release incidentally to see where we can make improvements.
