AlexJ reacted to CheersnGears in Save Draft - IC5
I am really hoping that Invision will see fit to include a save draft feature, at least for Pages, in IC5.  I have lost so much work over the years due to the lack of this simple feature.
I just lost 3/4 of an article I wrote because I was going to click another button, and some menu popup jumped in front of me.  But also, I have been attempting to work around this for years by setting the post date several days in the future, saving repeatedly, and then backdating it to the current time once I'm ready to publish. This workflow, frankly, is absurd in the year of our lord 2024.  Furthermore, it messes with block and new activity sorting by showing those articles that originally had future publish dates at the top of the list, even if they've been read or their backdated date has passed.

Currently only active customers can comment. Before majority of IPS customers, used to ask question through IPS ticket system. Now it's through forum first.
Can you enable commenting on existing topic/post, so even though I am not 'active' license holder but I still hold 6 licenses and hence allowed to comment. This way, I can help others because certain times in last few weeks, I thought, I can help but wasn't able to.
It's understandable I can't create a topic but disallowing other users to help your existing customers, seems counter productive.
    Just a minor feedback. Thanks.

I see Cloudflare recently released their own Captcha. Just wondering if IPS is going to implement it as an option in the future? I see their competitor has implemented it in an upcoming release.

We have released a patch to address this issue. Please go to AdminCP > System > Support and apply the patch from the first/top left box. If you do not see an option to install the patch, you already have the latest release.

Hi, over the years, I have seen a lot of feature requests and suggestions in this thread, and none gets implemented when politely requested. So now I will not ask. I am demanding this change for IPS v5. Make it happen 🙂.
In IPSv4, when an image is uploaded in the forum and across the suite, except for the Gallery app, the EXIF data, including camera and lens specs, is not stored in the database. This makes it impossible for third-party devs to create add-ons which can display the image's EXIF data in the Forums app, Pages app and other places. This simple feature is vital for many who use the IPS suite for photo\image-driven communities. So, can IPS readjust the image uploading software code so it saves the EXIF data in the database for all images that gets uploaded in the whole IPS suite? The aim is to have selected image EXIF data displayed when the mouse is hovered over an image using a tooltip across the whole IPS suite.
    Thanks.

So, to me, this is absolutely bonkers.

IPS' team has noticed that their plugin community is a fraction of what it used to be, thinks this is because everyone has switched to bespoke work (You sure it's not the other way around? People using bespoke work /because/ the plugin community has a fraction of the size it did back when there was a free version and before IPS was trying to be everything for every person by default?).

So they /murder/ pre-made plugins. No, we're not going to see thriving new marketplaces. Excited devs will start some, none of these will be as active as the current one, most if not all of these efforts will peter out quickly. Not having the marketplace in the panel, not having them vetted by IPS, not having people browse over them prior to purchasing IPS (and plan out a setup with plugins), not having their plugins listed on IPS' websites are all small cuts that together, cut deep. IPS' website was never a limiter on other marketplaces (they've always existed for themes and some plugins), but free advertisement to those who did have those. You're merely taking away an option and your stamp of approval.

And you do this brilliant move in the middle of a version, announcing it to your costumers roughly a month up-front.

Definitely not obvious you're springing it this way to ensure customers don't either, mass-hug a former major version to keep their plugins, or start planning migrations away from IPS between the time of announcement and release.

Now, months after it happened, I google 'Invisionpower plugins marketplace' and find nothing on the first page.

Sincerely, as someone who was a fan once of IPS, you people suck.

Same, I only set up one site and am testing it. Shut off GA4 in IPS ACP and reviewing. Wondering what else I can offload.
I get your point, I'm just trying to see what I can prevent from pulling locally off my server while being on their free tier.

I use in one of my less used sites for testing purposes. I haven't done before/after monitoring.
Off topic:  I was setting up zero trust and that's when I noticed it. It would be interesting to know if you are using CF Email service with AWS.. trying to set up auto move, to validating for bounced emails. If you have experience in that, will PM you.

These UI changes are looking really nice, fantastic work as always Ehren. Having you join the IPS design team is undoubtedly one of the most exciting things to happen and your work here is just proving that every day. Looking forward to seeing even more!
I'm also now interested in seeing some of the improvements to the UX that complement the UI changes - in particular the mobile topic/posting experience, which in V4 is currently quite miserable now when you compare the ease of posting on social media apps. Just this morning I tried to post a topic about a news story I read earlier, and it was a constant battle of scrolling up/down just to reach post editor toolbar icons that had been moved off-screen as my post got longer (some elements, like the GIF implementation and URL insertion, are pretty clunky as well).
Not knocking the V4 experience as I know it's a decade old at this point and originally designed to serve a desktop experience over mobile - but at the same time, I can see why many in my community prefer to post status updates when it's currently so difficult to quickly and easily post a topic or a post on the forum via their phones. 😅

The profile blocks will stretch so they’re all the same height. In testing, this has worked well, but we can always add a max-height to the boxes if they get too tall.
For the moment, “normal widgets” just collapse into a vertical column on mobile, so it’s just the profile ones which scroll. The normal widgets can vary a lot in height, so they might not work as smoothly in a carousel.

I'm very curious about the UX improvements made to uploading/cropping profile photos especially when using mobile devices.
Perhaps you could do some blogs from the perspective of an iPhone/Android user in the future?
