Sonya* reacted to Sheffielder in 4.5: Zapier Brings Integration with Over 2,000 Web Apps
Am really excited to see what this can do.
Hopefully there will be a few workflows for us to follow to get certain things like Mailchimp going (kind of like a dummies guide walkthrough to set it up)

Me too, I see potential in the internal automation.
But in Zapier, apart from mailchip stuff (which I probably wont use since I'm using sendgrid at the moment) I really fail to imagine a scenario where I as a single admin running a mid-size forum would somehow benefit. Well apart from Pages news articles sharing to Facebook (which I've already done with RSS export tools).
I'm happy for the news but can't come up with how that will help things in a big way.

"we are launching a beta service of Zapier integration for Invision Community in the Cloud."

I am mainly interested in doing the internal automation for now. I.e. replacing the Rules app.

Totally agree. Although I'm a 3rd-party provider, I really don't like and don't use 3rd-party themes.

Similarly, I have my devices auto apply focus assist/do not disturb after a set time every evening. It helps, but I still can't help but check on things!

I have a rule that really helps. If you do not work but stay at home, then switch off your machines. If they are still running then you probably just briefly want:
check you mails see if someone replies in the community take a look on the statsĀ and so on It helps me a lot just to turn off theĀ power. It is like a reminder for me: if they are not on, then this is NOT a working time. Not even for a minute or two.Ā š

The GUI is still overloaded. I would make checkboxes for each general categories:
Followed Content Mentions & My Content Messenger Clubs Profile Newsletter File Updates And then add a link Refine to each category, where single options are shown in the pop-up. If user clicks on the checkbox in the general list, then everything within the category is selected. If he unchecks the checkboxes then everything within is unchecked.Ā Refine is the possibility to select only some options. This way users can make first settings very quickly and refine them afterwards.

Sonya* got a reaction from DawPi in The Paradox of Choice: Why A Major Retail CEO Spent His First 100 Days Thinking About Can Openers
Also known as 'community paralysis', if you have tons of sections on your community, forums, blogs, articles, galleries, downloads, links, clubs, chats, videos and so on. In this case the user is not able to decide where to start und leavesĀ š

Is this code snippetĀ going to answer your question?

Don't worry, I'm already preparing the 4.5 Dev Guides covering such new features:)

Sonya* reacted to Fosters in 4.5: User Interface Improvements
I've done something similar for a project, where we have put the link to the most popular comment (which is also the one with the highest rates) into the sidebar.

I would have thought that, in order to achieve that, we'd need to group or order those comments in some way. In a linear chronological view it would only be able to take you to one of them. Can IPS group top/highest rated comments in a reddit-esque style? If so, I agree it would be a good option for that use case.

I think it is just a beginning.Ā It is like a good film, they start slowly with some "unimportant" features, then riseĀ suspense, tension and BUM BUM BUM!!! At the end we have powerful reveal and are happy to have watched it to the end.Ā
