  1. Making 'date of birth' / 'birthday' an optional or required profile field on registration. We are finding that many of our newest members since we converted do not have their birthday in the profile, and there is no way to give them a reminder to add it when registering.
  2. no worries - worked on my site, so though there was an issue here - so apologies.
  3. fair enough - shame about that. Mind you why does it show items under downloads - why is that different here?
  4. I did a search for the word welcome - yet it gave no results for topics, and a few for downloads - yet http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/295280-download-m30-auto-welcome-members-200/ exists Do these topics not show up in the search? I can't believe that there are no posts with the word in either. Thanks.

    IP.Board 3.0.5

looks interesting - I know Matt has been doing a lot of work on the blogs
  6. We could do with multiple subscriptions before coupons :(
  7. The message posted by staff when potentially unlicensed people try and get support has links that go to out of date pages.
  8. could see the advantage of sorting them via product. That way anyone who does not have a particular product can ignore an entire section.

    IP.Board 3.0.5

We do not know - however 3.0.4 is stable
  10. If you do not have your credit card on file, then you simply have an invoice created and then you can go and pay that invoice via PayPal.
  11. If you are on linux, it should not make any difference whether you are on 1 IP or not. (not even sure if there is any difference on Windows for that matter) Simply allocate all your sites to the 1 IP. You can use the other 3 IP's for DNS or SSL - with IP's limited it is better to use dedicated IP's solely for DNS & SSL.

    Updating Skins?

if the author releases an updated version. For example 'cleancut' here

    Updating Skins?

I do not think there is an easy easy way to update a skin, apart from deleting it and reuploading. The problem with this method is that anyone who had that skin, (I assume) goes back to the default skin.
  14. Okay thanks. Not keen on using betas LOL Mind you, I just read another swathe of complaints on my forums as to how poor IPB is - I do not agree with any of them - but if they are not posting or only complaining then I am not in the mood to battle with them. When multiple people use the words of 'its rubbish', then I have to wonder as to what their issues are. They all seem to have different problems. If people are not using the forums, then there is a problem.
  15. Sorry to moan, but it is taking a long time for cleancut to be officially released. We were promised that it would be out with 3.0.3 - this was in August. A beta was released, but no official final version with 3.0.3 in early September. We now have 3.0.4 and another beta. How long before it is officially released? I was hoping to use it weeks ago - but can't as it is still not finished. Thank you.
  16. Excellent post - can't argue about any of that. All you VB points are those that I too miss in IPB (total pain having to go into a CP and remember the users display name that you wish to edit!) Worth adding on search that with IPB you can use sphinx, which even with V4 VB refuse to add - makes a big difference to larger forums, but would rather it be topics by default. Also in IPB's favour is display names - something that VB does not have.

    Currency

Another brand of software has been doing this for years - depending upon exchange rates it was cheaper to buy in
  18. We run Sphinx on our site with 1.7 million posts - the server has other sites running on it as well (including other forums) - we have had over 400 in a 15 minute period (currently 150) and our load is 0.43
  19. forgot that thanks - thought it was some new flash feature LOL
  20. http://community.invisionpower.com/forum/1-company-news-and-updates/
  21. I see the company blogs are now showing as a forum. How did you do this?
  22. As long as it works well in the UK, it will be fine - problem is most do not - certainly the system used by ubb and vbulletin never worked well.
  23. The only thing that might be useful is a referral scheme - whereby referring a new purchaser would give a small kick back - perhaps in a credit in the account - which could be offset against future purchases.
