1. I apologize for any misinformation you were given. Most likely the representative you asked about the skin confused it with the community skins (Classic Blue, Pro, etc.).

Thanks. No idea, but I would expect support staff to know their products, especially when it took me three attempts to get a response that it was an official skin ;) (Thanks to Matt's better half ;) )

I would love to answer your questions, but I simply don't have any answers. I don't know what the status is. I do know that I updated the skin in the client area the same day Ehren posted it in the customer lounge, so the "official" copy you can get from the client area is the latest copy released. As I recall, it's under IP.Board Development Releases category.

We're not ignoring the skin, forgetting it completely, etc. I suspect it's just being left on the backburner until Matt makes some needed changes to the skin system for 3.1 to properly protected "root" skins. I'll see if anyone has any more information today they can share.

Great to hear that you updated the skin for download, but perhaps it might have been an idea to make a post here about it in case people are waiting for a more 'official' download and not from another member? Communication at IPS is great most of the time, but for some reason it has fallen badly with this skin and I do not know why.

Brandon, it would take all of 14 seconds for an IPS rep to update the blog section of the skin. That, I believe, is what is getting most people riled. I copied an pasted the default template to make it work. I'm sure someone on the official skin can do the same.

Indeed - it looks awful and gives a bad representation of IPS. As do the community skins if they have not been updated as, to a visitor these are all official - you and I know that the community ones are not, but a new potential customer does not - he doesn't give two hoots about community products at this stage, he sees it all as one.

  2. IPS have not released an official version yet.

When I asked on the forums, my post was ignored by IPS in the feedback forum, having waited until the new blogs etc. came out and still nothing. I then asked in a ticket and was told it was not an official skin at all and it was a community skin, and that it was dependant upon the community. It was only when I pointed out Lindy's post above that they agreed it was an official skin, but gave no indication of when it would be updated.

I am disappointed with IPS on this skin as they promised it in 3.0.3 (I think) and since then we have had a couple of beta versions and nothing since 3.0.5 was released. It looks poor here and reflects badly on Ehren who originally crafted the skin and won the competition that IPS ran last summer.

All very sad and not up to the usual standard of IPS on what is an excellent skin.

  3. Would be nice to have a notification in the list of apps as to when a newer version is available.

Currently mine says 'up to date', when I know it is not - problem is one has to go through several downloads on the IPS site to see which need to be updated (if any)

  4. It might be better to have a beta group for testing - Beta should not be expected by anyone to be without issues - people run different versions of *nix & windows and users use different browsers and for those reasons the ability to run beta is good.

I only had to temporarily un-install as I urgently needed to update a profile, and didn't have time to check the tracker for updates/fixes, as it was late at night.

  5. Thanks for releasing this, seems to work great so far! (I'm also using sphinx search).

I only have one small request. On my board we have 100s of forums, so it's a bit tedious to scroll through the list to see which ones you have already blocked.

Request: Could you add a listing of currently blocked forums somewhere on the page?

    Ex:

[ list of forums you can block ]

    Forums you are currently blocking:

    • Forum 1
    • Forum 2
    • etc...

    sounds a great idea :)

Sure... In a few days I'll release a new version.

    thanks :)

  6. Not sure if it has been mentioned - but one feature both and I and my members miss from our pevious software is

Quick Quote & Quick Reply buttons on posts.

Quick Reply simply puts the user in the 'Quick Reply' box from any post and Quick Quote does the same except it quotes the post where the user clicks the button.

Saves having to go to a full reply page to quote.

    Simple & very useful.

  7. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but it would be nice to have an easy way of finding moderated posts that need to be approved. It would be nice if they were shown in the "view new content" as highlighted.

And the ability to easily delete them! All very well having the spam service hide the posts of potential spammers, when it is a total pain to actually delete them from multiple forums!

It would be very nice to have the collapsible sidebar not only at the board index, but also wenn viewing sub-forums or threads.

Would be nice - got around this partially by using categories more - but not ideal.

  8. Could you include a sorta like iFrame thing in some version? Like lets say you have an application and you only want your members in the application to see the chat, by simply signing into their account from your app and using it so that they can somewhat be active in a part of your site while still being in themselves, productive. I had a way better explanation but while trying to right click the 4th page with my trackpad I accidentally clicked and lost my post :(

suggested earlier - but would be great - many people prefer to keep a chat window open whilst doing other things.

  9. Regarding this, it would be really awesome if there were an function in the ACP to send out a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly notice to all members asking them to update various info on their profiles. The things to update would be a choice which we could set. Another example is that I plan on starting a Xbox 360 community, and it would be really nice for me to remind everyone member to add there gamertag to their profile.

    Birger :)

agree - I have now implemented a couple of mods Birthday wishes emailed / PM'd & Welcome email/pm, both of which encourage the member to update their profile etc. (with a direct link)

Have also added the PM groups - so I can send a periodic PM to certain groups / all members to get them to ensure their email address / birthday etc., is correct.

Members do not seem to mind a PM/Email on their birthday, so this is a good time to contact them.
