  1. Indeed - which is why it would be good to have a script which would test passwords and contact any member who has a weak password. I think password conditions should be part of it - however there is no way to tell if any member of staff has a weak or strong password - one can only take their word for it. However with IPB each member has a different (usually) login name - so any hacker would probably not know this. Unless they hacked their email.
  2. Thanks - thought it was me, doing something wrong. Very frustrating and will stop us going live with 3.0.3 :(
  3. Just waiting on my provider to give me a price to install :( When I tried the method in the article it is showing G++ as missing.
  4. In Canada, Facebook are having to remove content if members decide they wish to cancel their accounts. If Facebook are having to do this, then so will forums surely.
  5. Hi, I have mine set to 'Show me all new content'. However I am finding a lot missing. For example all the threads that I am watching do not appear - overnight I had 3 or 4 emails, but none of theses are in the list. Is this a bug, or am I understanding it wrong? It is also not showing all the new posts in the forums - several are missing.

Time to get 3.0.3 wrapped up then ;)

Charles - not sure who you are referring to as I opened this topic - I have been dealt with by Mark 10 days ago, who has been very helpful. As far as I am concerned this topic can be closed.
  8. Need a mod to check for weak passwords for IPB!
  9. I run another forum software at the moment before converting that to IPB. That also has PM conversations - it is just a simple case of ticking the required PM's and clicking email. A HTML email is then sent out with the conversation as it appears on the screen.
  10. Also need the ability to search for two or more words say +speed +test, which as far as I know is not possible - if it is then instructions need to be given as to how to customize the search.
  11. Mainly because for me it would not be a trial. it would be a method for them to sign up to a group - I could charge a cent/penny - but then I would break my word on that my forums would always remain free. This would force a charge for viewing forums obtained via the signing up to the group.
  12. Would be a great feature - however it would require additional licences - something that I would be prepared to buy in return for this feature. it is a feature that many people have tried to achieve over the years. The only way to do similar is to use converge - but this would not allow the sharing of forums :( but at least a site could use multiple domains.

    Clean Cut

not 100% correct in the blogs section - the header blocks part of it.
  15. You should have the choice of..... No Email Notification - This option will not send out any email notification, but will retain the topic in your subscriptions panel. Delayed Email Notification - This option will send out a notification if a reply has been made and you're not active on the board. Immediate Email Notification - This option will send out a notification immediately after a reply has been made, regardless of your activity. Daily Email Digest - This option will send out a daily digest showing all new replies for the day Weekly Email Digest - This option will send out a weekly digest showing all new replies for the week
  16. As mentioned in another thread, the current issue with anything priced at 0.00 is that the user is still sent to the payment page - when of course there is nothing to pay.
  17. Not sure it is a good idea to post the script, which could be used by others.
  18. Re social bookmarking - this would not be within the browser / forum, but on external sites - now used by most of the larger sites - helps with search engines etc. Ads - not sure why the ability to have ads built in should be a mod - many do not have the coding skills to place them between say first & second posts or above the quick reply box - so a built in option would be nice. Even if it just a couple of locations. 'Tis better than nothing:)

    Please allow...

Rikki - Not sure how another forum get's around it by allowing the admin to add certain extra shorter words, yet still be work within the MySQL limit for everything else.

    3.0.3

BTW - your signature is partly blocked by the clean cut style.

    3.0.3

I am using it here, and much prefer it - hopefully it will be released quickly. (not necessarily 3.0.3, which will be when it is ready, but the skin)
  22. I would like to see.... Similar Threads 'Search forums' / 'Search threads' boxes being at the top of the pages close to 'Add Reply' etc., as where they are at the footer they get missed by the majority. View First Unread - (at top of threads) saves hitting the back button and then the small arrow on the forum page to go to the first unread post in a thread Social Bookmarks - digg, Delicious etc. Tags Google ads (or similar) - with the ability to display adds in a number of places (between say 1st & 2nd post), inside the first post, in the header / footer. above the quick reply etc. All these being controlled by usergroups as to who does and does not see the ads. When a restriction is in place for a period of time, give a countdown in seconds - saves people clicking the search button time and time again (which probably is a greater load that running a countdown). +1 :)
  23. Displaying results by topic rather than by post would be much better - with the option to display by post if people preferred. Can't think of any situation where for the majority of users they would need to see the same word repeated 20 times in the one thread. And so had to look at the 21st result to see the next thread.
