    Hi,
@Andy Millne replied to you on Thursday to confirm that your message had been received and the site in question had been cancelled at the end of the current renewal period. Andy also asked for further information about the error you were seeing. - So to confirm, renewals were removed on your community so it will expire at the end of the period.
I'm sorry that you haven't received our reply, please feel free to send me a PM directly on here with a screenshot of the error page you're seeing (please make sure the screenshot includes the URL in the browser).

    Kind Regards
    Stuart

That will be something your host would need to advise on, as Mod Security is controlled at the server level.

Sounds like Mod_Security is blocking your change, try disabling it or reviewing your logs for mod_security.

I am sorry you are frustrated, but your site does not in fact have "20,000 spam" posts. Your database may contain 20,000 additional temporary records, but your initial implication was your community was being overrun by spam suggesting the feature is allowing a moderation nightmare to occur and that, respectfully, is the very definition of hyperbolic.
The feature is intended to promote engagement and reduce the initial barrier of such. I can understand if you are on shared hosting or a micro VPS with minimal resources how a bout of increased traffic and PBR submissions may present different challenges, but 20,000 - even 100,000 temporary records that will be removed if not authenticated should absolutely not pose an issue under normal circumstances. If 20,000 rows in the database is causing your site to noticeably choke, backups to be impacted and a concerning amount of storage to be consumed, I really believe there are deeper issues at play than PBR.
We determined the maintenance period to be a reasonable amount of time between content submission and final authentication before determining the account is spam. You are welcome to suggest modifications to this in the feedback area.
To answer your question, yes, you can shut the feature off and the cleanup of accounts and content will still occur.
If you have any suggestions for improving the feature, you are again very welcome to post them in the feedback area. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what we can offer for your concerns at hand as again, the feature is intended to allow a path for guests to... post before registering. The posts are completely behind the scenes until they complete the registration, which requires validation and if that is not completed, the posts are removed.

Rhett got a reaction from 13. in -200 error - when will this issue be resolved?
You provided the issue in your reply  "Large animated gif's"  Other software likely uses a different upload method to be honest, and which may be something we can improve on.
That single image you attached is actually 93 images 😂 which is why you are likely seeing issues as it's pretty large to handle, and GD seems to do a more efficient job in this case on that file type.

To clarify how this works, the ACP live search only returns a value for a keyword if we enter it, it's not searching in this case, but locating the tags we set in the acp.  If you feel we should add more, please provide a list of tags, and the urls you would like to see them go to, we can review these and add some more as needed.  It's a difficult item to keep updated as everyone thinks a little differently, and some often get missed when new items are added.
    Thank you

What your "expert" misses is that our platform is designed for conversation. Social media is designed for you to post some thought, someone leaves a comment, and never looks at it again. Look at this very topic: it was posted in 2018 and now you are bringing it back to life. That does not happen on social media.
That is fine for social media as that is the point. It's not the point of a platform like we make and the fact that we are not trying to do that is a huge selling point to our clients.

    There's a few barriers here.
The technical: to allow 'stories' to be posted, you'll need a fair bit of storage for the videos, you'll also need a queued system to take in raw video and transcribe it into a more friendly and compressed format which is beyond the reach for most self-hosted sites.

The strategic. No one comes here to see what I'm up to. They come here for help with their Invision Communities, or they come here to post advice for others, or to learn how to manage their communities.

Forums are discussion led platforms. The discussion is the star.
Social media are people led platforms. The person is the star.

Allowing random members to upload stories about what they're doing and so on cross-circuits the purpose of a discussion led platform.

Social media is great at being social medial. Forums are great at being forums.

Rhett got a reaction from Thomas P in Large community? You have a problems with sitemap!
I feel some are overthinking this, thinking that if it's not in your sitemap then it won't get indexed, that really isn't the way Google and other search engines work, a sitemap is basically to kick start indexing. The goal for any site is to get the content indexed, a sitemap kick starts this and provides info for search engines to get started indexing, as they do, they will naturally index the whole site based on links, etc on your site as normal.
I wouldn't think of a sitemap as a must have for every single item, think of it more as a way to push start the indexing process and let the search engines do their thing by indexing the complete site as they are crawling. If a topic is being crawled, search engines will certainly pick up the replies to this topic and index them too.  🙂

I'm afraid, it's not "nonsense". Google has a limited number of resources they can dedicate to each site, and they do just that.
Posts do not represent a separate page and in fact the canonical URL that is embedded into the page points back to the topic (which is included in the sitemap).

Rhett reacted to Matt in rebuild content in order to use lazy load? WHY?
Why does this need to happen?
    -  To replace data attributes in the HTML source stored within posts.
What exactly will happen if I rebuild my content?

    -  A background task chugs through your posts to replace the data attributes.
What happens if I choose no?

    - New posts will lazy load, old ones will not.
can I change my mind later if I choose yes? Can I change my mind if I choose no?

    - Yes, switch it off and then back on again.
I have over 1 million image attachments. Should I be worried?

Nope. Images are not touched or rebuilt in any way. Just the HTML markup in the database.

It's cached for guests too after their first page load. You don't have to log in to get caching (in fact, our caching is even more aggressive for guests than members, since they all see the same thing).
Your tests are likely assuming an empty cache, which is a fair measurement of a first-time visit/stale cache, but subsequent page loads will be loading FA from cache, not the server.

There is no need to tag anyone really as we all read this feedback section regularly.  From what I understand the changes needed for font awesome 5 are pretty large, too large to hold up 4.3, which is already in the stages of internal testing.
    Thank you
