Hello, this isn't a " flippant attitude" at all, please don't take it that way.
This topic has been covered several times however, and management has made the decision that this alert will not be removed, we show this for security and the customers best interest in mind, we are not being selfish, we are not being flippant, and we are not being pushy with this recommendation.  If third party items are holding some back from upgrading, perhaps they need to evaluate how much value that item is brining to the community if it's forcing them to remain out of date.   That isn't an item which we can answer for you though, that is your decision.
With that said, there really isn't much more to add to this topic, so I will close this up.  If anyone has anything further to add on this subject and you feel it's something you want addressed that hasn't been converged already, please submit a support ticket under your account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

The solution is to get a provider that actually knows what they are doing, by the information you have posted over time, you should get a fully managed provider, you can't really have the best of both worlds, the cost of an unmanaged server, and a properly working one without a proper server admin running things for you.  Email can be sent just fine from a dedicated server if it's setup properly and maintained properly.  This isn't anything new nor is it rocket science, but it does take someone willing to do things right.
Best of luck to you, I hope you find a provider that can offer you some better service though, based on what you posted they replied with, I would run from them fast, as there are likely many other issues they are not paying attention to as well.

This notice is there for a reason, it's simple to remove and all automated, just upgrade!
If you can't upgrade for some reason, we would recommend you find the cause of that and resolve it so you can.
We do not allow code or plugins to remove this item though.
It's in your best interest to be on the latest version for your security, peace of mind, and to ensure upgrades go smoothly.  Skipping many versions can often cause unneeded issues when you do upgrade.

I don't think it's our responsibility to teach people how to install other software. Redis itself has documentation. If you are not able to install and configure Redis then you should not really be using it.

We did away with our heavily customized forum skin and just went with the default, with our own header and footer added. Then I changed the colors of that skin to make a dark version. It required a few lines of code in custom.css and it's not quite finished, but the results are really good. This is the best our forum has ever looked, and it's also the lowest-maintenance its ever been.
The integrated GIFs, little changes like the rounded border around the reactions display, and other subtle improvements have made this update really nice. My community site feels lightweight, responsive, and alive. It definitely feels more like a "social community" than a boring old forum.

I've not used the MySQL Migration Wizard before, but you probably would be better off using mysqldump to create a backup, copying that backup to your new server, and then importing that dump file via the mysql command on your new server. Details can be found here in the MySQL docs:

Because, as with most things, there is much more to the picture that users don't see or understand, we have to ensure image processing software can handle these extensions, and often case build in support for them. It's not as simple as saying allow xwz etc.

Just for those reading, I'm working with FZ on their site.

The core issue is that the thumbnails being generated by PHP and GD are currently larger than the originals (in some cases 300% larger!), due to the image quality being set to 100.

I've been testing out various percentages and around 85% is the sweet spot and is now generating thumbnails less than the original (around 50% or less) with no real noticeable drop in quality.

100% tries very hard to preserve images, including artefacts caused by the compression of the original.

Our team is working on this, I don't have an exact ETA at this point, but we will update any info we have as soon as we have it.   I would refrain from the "lying in your face" comments though, that isn't very nice, nor appreciated.  p.s. you shouldn't have a blue banner on your site, if you are not up to date, then please upgrade!  😛
Edit/Add >  the best estimate we have  right now on this being approved is 3-4 weeks or sooner, sooner being the goal!  🙂
