  1. I agree that the search function on IPB is severely lacking. As I was a Dragonfly CMS user for years, which used a version of phpBB, I thought that phpBB's search function was lacking too but I think it was still a bit better than IPB's. I too will use Google to search the forums here and on my own site before I'll use the built in search function here as the results are at times, worthless. I love the rest of the software and functionality, it's been a very pleasant experience, search just needs some serious help. Just my 2 cents...
  2. Updated and worked like a champ for me. Luckily I keep a txt file with my css changes and mods so updating is much easier.
  3. Would you be kind enough to shine a little light on how to do this?
  4. Riiiiight.... I think most adults will just be aggravated and move on to another site. Turning potential members away is pretty asinine in my opinion.
  5. I confused you by not being clear. What I meant by limits is by showing how many new registrants would be shown in a box ...so IF you had really busy forums that had, let's say, 50 new members per day you could limit to say...the last 10 or 25 that signed up so the box would not get too long. I also can't imagine wanting to limit signups on a forum.
  6. I'm new to IPB and I've looked over the logs and statistics center in the ACP but they are lacking more granular reporting abilities. When I click on registrations I want to click on the registrations for that day...let's say there were 5, and then see the 5 members listed that registered for that day. I should be able to click on that member's name and be taken to their member info in the ACP (which already exists). When I click on new Topics for the day, again..same scenario, I should click on that number and be taken to a list of those topics and see who started them...etc I want to see who has visited the site today...how many, click and list their usernames, time on board, IP address, how many pages and when I click on those pages see what they viewed in a list...then be able to click on what they viewed...a topic or gallery or blog...etc. I'd also like to see http referrers...see where they came from. If this exists and I've missed it please forgive me... .ditto if there is a good mod/hook that I've missed as well. I just feel there should be better reporting so we know the 4W's a little better.
  7. "Click here to show filter options" is rather out of sight out of mind at the bottom of the page and I'm pretty sure some of my less tech savvy members will wonder why they can only see certain posts because of restriction, particularly in my classifieds categories where I have 90 day limits on topics shown...for example. Any way to have the options show all of the time?
  8. I agree. My Dragonfly sites had something like this below...not perfect but you get the idea.
  9. I realize that there newest member and who's online is listed at the bottom of the page, with a large forum that's kind of a pain to check every time...and it's lacking information I'd like to see. I'd like a block/hook that shows the following: 1. New users today. Maybe be able to set a limit for really busy forums. I get about 5-10 per day so no big deal to me. 2. New posts...not just the latest thread/topic like you see now but replies, etc. 3. The rest of the board stats... total users, total posts, etc Just a thought.
  10. Make DoB mandatory during signup. You can make the year optional if you want but it will be mandatory on my site. When an existing member logs in I want that member to be prompted to update their profile and once in the profile area to make the required changes in the fields I have marked as mandatory.
