alphamale got a reaction from OptimusBain in A proper functional “Articles” page
Something that is built into the forum software. Something that you can rename for your home page. Something that you can decide where to pull articles from and also who can post them. I use super topics but I have to have a forum called “x” for “x” to be shown on the blocks. Just looks untidy.Â
Â
To clarify, a page that you can call home and it shows articles in a gorgeous template that doesn’t require a forum to be created to be the feeder to the homepage. Like burning boards has. So I could just have permissions set to admins or people who wrote articles for me, everybody else wouldn’t see then”create article” on that homepage.Â

HTML --> CSS --> PHP (easier for beginners). Js is hell: tackle it after you learned php so you´re more confident.

Yes, find reputable and recognized places for knowledge, just as you'd search for any other product or service online. 🙂
Depending on your learning style, seek out paid or free training/courses from reputable providers (consider looking into MOOCs) or go straight to the source for documentation:

Those programming languages that you mentioned will help you with the design aspect of things. If you want to learn to understand plugins/app and eventually develop them yourself, you will need to learn php/oop and sql as well.
Have a look at this site to learn the basics.

Invision (broadly) uses five languages:
Front End - things that run in the context of a user's browser:
JavaScript (often in the form of reusable libraries) CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) HTML (HyperText Markup Language) - all web sites use this, and Backend - things that run on a server:
PHP -- what actually runs on the server In addition, SQL is used through extraction layers in PHP via MySQL (or its swap in, MariaDB). Â
You will also find some use of JSON and XML. And you will find interactions with other technologies via PHP such as elasticsearch and Redis.
Your ability to establish working proficiency in any of these and then to develop an understanding of the existing codebase is an exercise we can only speculate about. I'd recommend looking for open, free courses that touch on the basics of PHP and front-end web development and see for yourself your ability to pick things up. Many of us have no formal education on these things and have largely taught ourselves. Many of us have formal education in one or more of these areas.
If you have the desire and drive, you're most of the way there.

This looked like an interesting item at first. Then I discovered it was making a political statement and while that is your choice the end user will have to decide if its something to support. I'm disappointed really because this would have been a nice addon to a new forum design I had in mind. Just thought I would mention it.

You might be well served to get a 14-day free demo account, create a couple of forums including one which will feature in a feed, and then set up a homepage with Pages. That'll give you an idea of what the possibilities are and whether they're what you're looking for before you spend $100 on the app:Â https://invisioncommunity.com/clientarea/demo/

Yes
You want Pages. You would create a single page, and then add a topic feed from News & Rumours. Â
I would not recommend blogs, unless you have a community of bloggers. Â

It is the weekend you know. I do not mean to be rude, but you come off a bit impatient to me. Give it some time. Or you can also tweak with it yourself if you can not wait.Â
If you think that you will get replies/answers immediately for similiar questions at xenforo, you will be in for a big surprise. Also, if I were you, I would think twice before buying/downloading third party plugins/apps there. Unlike here, they let everyone there to submit stuff without being checked first, which might result in one 's site being compromized security and performance wise. Just a friendly advice.Â
