  1. Yes, the fields can be required.
  2. If you have a help forum, for example, and you want the user to populate certain fields so that you have all the information they need. If you have a gaming community, and you want people to enter the game they are referring to. if you have a community around nature (like bird-watching) and people are uploading images and you want to make sure they enter things like the location of the image and/or the subject of the image. I'm sure I can think of other examples if I put my mind to it. The idea is to eliminate things like "if you are posting in this forum, please make sure you provide the specs of your PC". That goes away, because the user simply can't post anymore without providing that information.
  3. Provided they were created in the core, yes. Currently you can create custom field types in the core or in CMS (Pages). The system right now will only detect the core custom fields. I can look into the feasibility of including the CMS fields. All field values for all items are stored in the templates_fields_values table. One of the things I have on my "to-do" list is the ability to create widgets that will bring up a list of content items (regardless of type) based on selected fields/values. Storing all the data in a single location makes this feasible. No. Albums are a different object type. Topics, Images, Events, etc are all content items. An Album is actually a node (which is the equivalent of a forum or calendar). Adding custom fields on the node level would be a bit of a train wreck, as most nodes are created in the ACP. Can you please clarify your question? Do you mean that you want to set a default value for all items?
  4. I just released it this morning. So... no, not yet. If it helps at all, the v3 version of this app had 167 purchases, all happy people. You can probably ask in the support topic of the original mod to see if anyone is willing to share a link. The functionality is basically the same.
  5. Not even close. This is not a forms application and it does not store data in Pages at all. This will add: Custom fields when creating topics Custom fields when creating calendar events Custom fields when posting blog entries Custom fields when uploading images to the gallery Custom fields when submitting downloads files You can create different fields for different areas or you can use the same field for multiple areas. For example, I can have a text field that appears in just topics, or I can have the text field appear in both topics and blogs. I can also have the text field appear in Forum 1, but Forum 2 will have a dropdown. You can create as many fields as you want and group them any way you want. So Forum 1 will show a text field, but Calendar 1 will show a text field and a radio button.
  6. Custom Fields anywhere and everywhere. This application is an update to the v3 versions of the Topic Template System and the Calendar Template System. The Template System allows you to customize anything in the suite - forums, calendars, gallery categories, blogs, etc - and to create forms for the user to populate when posting new content. Create custom fields Group custom fields into Sets for individual containers (e.g. forums) Customize the layout of the field values when viewing content Allow multiple Sets per container to give users a choice of which form to populate Mark individual fields as required - preventing users from creating content without populating the additional fields
  7. I don't have a demo site, sorry. Perhaps someone here is willing to share their URL.
  8. Thank you! Yes, full price. IPS doesn't provide us with the ability to give discounts.
  9. Updated version in the Marketplace with the following changes: Merging members triggered an error. Fixed. Action Types are now sortable in the ACP Links to topics, blog entries, etc now lead to the first unread post/comment (note: new feed entries only!)
  10. I don't know why I don't get notifications from this thread. So frustrating. Can you clarify what you mean when you say "it doesn't seem to work as normal"? There really is no difference between the FAQ menu item and any other menu item.
  11. A new version has been uploaded to the Marketplace. It contains a fix for this issue.
  12. A new version has been uploaded to the Marketplace. It contains a fix for this issue.
  13. I guess it depends on demand. I still have a lot of ideas for it, but it depends on whether people will continue to use it. For now, I won't be making any major enhancements to it, and that's completely unrelated to 4.1... I just have other mods that are still waiting to be updated and I think it's only fair if those come first.
  14. Yes, feed_items is from social stream... I'm just not sure why it's giving that error. I mean... that should already be the structure? You can run that query manually.. For the widget - perhaps. I understand what you're asking for the replies. The only issue I have with it is that this makes it seem like you're replying to a specific post, which implies a threaded topic. There's no such thing here. I'm afraid it would end up being confusing to the user. How would I show the # of comments on such an item? What about "View all comments"? Let's say I skip those, and I just allow a reply box. That allows the user to respond to something out of context. For example, what if the stream shows post #36? I don't see the posts before and I don't see the posts after, so I just reply... and perhaps my reply makes no sense whatsoever in the context of the topic. Thoughts?
  15. Yes, collections are required. You can hide any tab from the menu in the ACP under System -> Site Features -> Applications. Click the "lock" icon to the right of the app and set "Show in Navigation" to false.
  16. 1. I can't do this without killing anything you're typing in the comment box (which I see you've reported as a bug). The only way for me to do this would be to refresh the entire page, which isn't good. 2. Yes. I don't plan on adding auto-refresh to the widget. I'm not 100% clear on what you're asking with the second half of this post. I believe this is already supported, but I'm not certain, as I don't fully understand the question. Please clarify.
  17. IMPORTANT NOTICE: the version uploaded to the Marketplace last night had a bug when creating new events. I've just uploaded a patch. Please make sure to download the latest version. @simonle you can only use the widget. The widget has a couple of filtering options - you can filter by members you follow, and/or by specific action types (e.g. show only New Topics and New Posts) @Joel R that's been on my list for ages (since the 3.x version in fact), but it's too time-consuming for me to tackle right now.
  18. I've uploaded a new version to the Marketplace. It contains a fix for this issue.
  19. A new version has been uploaded to the Marketplace. Changes include: Support for Pages - Database records and record comments are now logged to the stream. Users can comment on records directly from the Stream.Widget can now be filtered by one or more action typesWidget can now be filtered by members you are followingWidget now includes group colors for member namesWidget did not display if there was no activity. Fixed. (Now shows a "there is no recent activity" message)The following action types now allow for exclusion of specific nodes: New Topics, New Blog Entries, New Images, New Events, New Files@GrooveOnBeat I was unable to reproduce the last issue you posted (the hover issue in the sidebar). Please install the latest version and let me know if the problem persists.
  20. If you create separate collections for each of these, they would all show up in the global FAQ section. But each collection also has its own page, so yes, you can have independent pages for each.
  21. Both of these are excellent suggestions and should be relatively easy to implement. I will try to get it done this week, but no guarantees (I have absolutely no control over my own schedule at the moment).
  22. @Joel R (for some reason the editor hangs when I try to quote your post) I can't reproduce the first issue in my environment. The other 2 issues have been fixed in the latest file uploaded to the Marketplace.
  23. I could have sworn I already implemented this. Is it not working?
  24. No ETA. Paid custom work has to take precedence, and for personal reasons I have almost no free time at the moment. Could be another month at least.
