For me it's not worth it until the subscription manager is released. Everything IPB has to offer is useless for me without it.
-
The Subscription Manager is more of a priority than a documentation consisting of what buttons to click in order to add a forum.
-
Matt is busy writing the documentation... so as to not tick off [member=Tom Whiting]. :P

Multiple subscriptions is a feature for 1.1 or beyond. It will require a fair amount of code re-shuffling.
I'm hoping to have subs manager final out Monday or Tuesday. I've only had to make a few edits but I want to ensure that it's tested well before releasing it.
Hi Matt. Looks like the Sub Manager won't be released today? -
how about this crazy idea: the ability to post an audio response rather than replying in text :D
well, I do that alot on a forum I manage. Record my response and attach it as an mp3. -

Busy day today. Think we're winning. Hoping to wrap up MSSQL and the Subs Manager tomorrow.
Hmm. I hope it gets wrapped up by tomorrow. Then that could possibly mean a release by Tuesday! :D -
How close are we to release? I only see a few bugs listed for RC2.
Hmm, I don't really know Archon. Let's wait and see. -
(Side note: don't put much stock in the BBB. Most complaints sent to the BBB are not to do with IPS but rather people send complaints to us about IPBs out there thinking we run them. Plus I could go on a huge rant about the BBB but that's a different topic.)
As with most businesses 99% of clients are happy but it's the 1% who are not happy who you hear from :)
Most of our complaints come from client-confusion. The last few posted here were people thinking we had somehow removed their license when they were just logging in under the wrong email address, for example. We also get a lot of "timezone" complaints. Like someone in Europe will post a ticket and wonder why it's taking "so long" for a reply forgetting it's 3:00 am here. Sure we have staff in tickets from Europe too but some stuff requires certain staff to take care of.
We also get complaints from what I call "abnormal expectations" like: client has IPB installed on a host using ultra-secure PHP setup with almost everything disabled and is mad because things don't work. Another one would be languages issues. We are continuing to work on language issues but when your whole staff only speaks English it's hard to debug language issues and some people become angry thinking we don't care when really it's just an ongoing process as it is so hard for us to debug.
Of course we sometimes miss a response timeframe for a ticket, give a client wrong information, and mess up. That's understandable. When we do mess up we never defend ourselves we acknowledge it and try to fix it. We do get defensive though when someone posts a rant on the forums and misrepresents the facts. That really drives me nuts :)
Yes and another one would be a lack of a subscription manager. -

I hope that means...1 step closer to the subscription manager.

It's RC1. I was told not to use RC1 on a live board. I am waiting for the full release to have a good stable version. I don't want to use RC1 only for it to cause major problems.

wow man.................................................how much longer?

Due to the recent -planned- economic meltdown, IPS has implemented Operation D2D (Death 2 Dot) in order to conserve bandwidth. There is an upward savings of 0.0023% per year of a byte which (with inflated interest) amounts to $9.7 million dollars in 8,000 years. And just for the record, Invision had no dot in its infancy!

Do you notice a difference with Sphinx on the front-end besides a performance boost such as visuals? Is one of the opportunities this offers is to search 3 letter words?
-
I'm still curious about the question I asked which is copied below.
I have a question. How are the session IDs generated? What files are responsible for creating this session?

I don't know if this really is a security bug but we'll find out; this might just be a false alarm. In any event, you can add further precautions by enabling .htaccess and renaming the admin folder.
IPS did it

I have a question concerning the admin panel. When you login you are given some sort of hash such as:
.../admin/index.php?adsess=28935k23jlkjljsdfl2323r&app=core&module=diagnostics
Is this some sort of md5 encryption? If I give this link to somebody else with a different IP, will they be able to get into the admin panel? I tried copy-pasting the same link into different browsers and was logged in automatically.
I assume this special number changes after sessions correct? During this interval, if I give you that link, will you be able to gain access to the admin panel without directly logging in? -
Okay, enjoy your holiday. :)

Is the plan to have bug reports for RC1 build up this coming week while Matt is on holiday? -
How does the uploaded changefile resolve the emoticon issue along with the other issues if a mysql error exists? Shouldn't there be a re-installation of some sort?
-
So I hear 3.0.2 more "buggy" than usual?
-
Nice. 1 step closer to final release.

I think searching by group would be a great feature.
E.g.,
Searching "hello" only for people in moderator group
