  1. What you need to do is only permit registered users to make a purchase. Do not allow guests to make a purchase.

We got hit several yrs ago with a similar situation. We got attacked in our donation prompt as we permitted guests to make donations. Big mistake. Inivision did a fix in commerce where only registered users (not guests) could access the donation box.

  2. After upgrading to 4710 we are no longer getting emails when someone renews or pays for a subscription. Payment settings correctly list the emails but none are being sent to our designated email addresses.

There is no data currently in the block so it will not show. Please add the data back in and then disable all third party applications/plugins to see if it goes away again.

So the bigger issue here is why would the data leave the block?  I didn't adjust it and it seems like this is what happened last time.  Do we just need to open the block editor daily to make sure it's still populated?

Looks like you enabled a lot of third party applications/plugins today.  This happened recently which corresponds with the guest signup widget becoming blank and thus, not displaying. I would recommend reviewing to ensure that each of these are compatible with the release of Invision Community you're on.

It wasn't showing before we did the upgrade this morning.  I thought perhaps for some reason the widget stopped showing because we didn't upgrade, even though it was working the other day so we did the upgrade.  It's still not showing and all the apps/plugins are compatible.

  5. We only have one language.  It shows now as a widget box for Admins that I managed to configure, but when using another browser that I've never signed in with (acting as a guest visiting the site), it doesn't show on the page.

I cleared the cache twice trying to get it to show up for the guest.

I've loaded it again and it now appears but who knows for how long.

  6. This has occurred irrespective of the release. The most current one is UN: ramses and I left that user in the current state.

I believe I found the problem. When a first time subscriber clicks on "TT contributor renewal terms removed by ramses" vs when a member does not remove the renewal terms. The member that removes the renewal term gets a months purchase  with a blank dollar amount in the active section as follows:

    Could contain: Page, Text

The subscriber that does not remove the renewal terms gets the correct programmed terms:

    Could contain: Page, Text

So what happens is if a member clicks on remove renewal terms, then his one yr subscription lapses, they renewal after expiration, the new invoice/subscription retains the months feature instead of going to the 1 year programmed term. This results in a charge $299.52 (24.96 per month) to subscribe again instead of the correct renewal invoice amount of $24.96 one time annual charge.

If a subscriber opts out of the renewal terms that section should not reflect a term that does not exist (months), it should retain the 1 yr annual period.

  7. UN is lawlawless. After reviewing the issue I manually entered the correct renewal information. This type of thing occurs frequently. Normally when the error occurs, the system will enter the correct renewal amount (24.96) but will magically show 1 month instead of 1 year on the renewal term. Numerous times I have had to go in and manually enter the 1 year period and save.

  8. We got hit very hard on our donation page by this bot on 10-7-22. In the span of approximately 10 hrs we got hit with approximately 60,000 $1 guest transactions. We did not catch that activity which started at 10pm the night before until 8am in the morning. We immediately disabled the donation feature. Of those 60k transactions about 150 went thru. We immediately refunded those that did get thru and our account with stripe was put on test mode for a week.

We do not get many donation as we are mainly a subscription site. To subscribe you must join the site and then pay to upgrade. We have yet to enable the donation feature again as we are undecided as to whether or not to run donations thru pages where you have to log in or just limit donations to subscribers. Needless to say, this was a very surprising vulnerability.

In the mean time our transaction feature in commerce shows 2000 pages of these failed fraud transactions. Is there a way to mass delete these 2000 pages ? Obviously, we are not going to click delete individually on each of the 60,000 failed transactions.

Could contain: Menu, Text, Word, Number, Symbol, Plot

They should use advertising, social media or send us an email from which we can opt out. But having it ALWAYS in the main navigation is not going to bring me or many others onboard.

I was not aware of this advertising twist but for you guys that self-host I will tell you from first hand experience that the IPS cloud service is excellent and they need to get the word out somehow about this service. I self hosted a IPS site from 4-2011 thru 4-2018 and I can't tell you how many years that dealing with different hosting companies took out of my. From completely corrupt up charging hosting companies to the totally inept hosting services. Plus, the learning curve associated with self-hosting is a total pain in the ass.

I am primarily a content guy, know how to run a community guy and a guy that doesn't want to deal with hosting. I have been with the IPS cloud service since 4-2018 and I hope to never go back to any type of self-hosting scenario. In the past 4 yrs we have not had a single hosting issue since we have gone with the IPS cloud package. I have been a huge advocate for IPS to create a turnkey one stop shop so I would not have to go thru the intellectual hurdles of self-hosting.

Now that IPS has gotten closer to the expanded media storage levels I see no reason to ever switch. No shill here but I will tell you from first hand experience, I love the IPS cloud package. I hope my testimonial will compel some of you to at least explore switching from self hosting and if you do end up making the move, it will result in you having more time to spend on your community admin needs. Additionally, you will be able to take some of the time you will save from dealing with hosting issues to having extra time to enjoy life.

Guests go click on subscriptions and it creates an invoice that is pending with absolutely no contact information.

I would recommend that you offer the free part of your site to registered guests. That way you will get the necessary info. Alternatively, you could change the name guest to member and require registration to be a member in order to access the free content. Thereafter, if the member chooses to upgrade they will be promoted to a group that you should create with a more prestigious membership name/identification instead of what you use now (member).

What is the issue if I just delete and not cancel?

There is no issue. Just hit delete.

And is there anyway to reduce the number of these bogus guest subscriptions that do nothing but take up time to delete?

    See my first response.

  11. We too are having problems with our subscription feature. On 1-1-22 we changed our annual subscription fee from $19.95 to $24.95. Most of the time the renew invoice comes up as it should. However, sometimes it comes up and when the members clicks on the renew button it shows the renew period in terms of months. We have never offered any subscription in terms of months yet the month period magically appears. The member puts a 12 in the open box next to months and comes up with a order review of $299.40 instead of the one yr at $24.95. I have had to manually fix several of these cases.

In addition, some members renew and get an invoice that was created prior to 1-1-22 with the old subscription fee of $19.95. Those invoices expired but it is appearing as though they have never expired and these members are renewing for 1 year under the old rate instead of renewing for the price increase rate that took effect in 2022.

Several times a day I look at the new invoices created. I have had to delete many of these bad invoices and create new invoices for member accounts that accurately reflect how the renewal invoice should read. I hate that I have had to be so manually involved in this process. As I mentioned above, sometimes the new invoice is generated correctly and sometimes it is not.

Thanks @opentypefor starting this topic as we thought that this invoice issue was something unique only to our situation.

  12. I will echo what others have said "AVOID this POS". They act like they are doing you the favor by using their app. It is a total piece of garbage that requires yet another thing you have to update with new versions. Plus, they want you as the site owner to pay to rid that annoying TT signature. Also, they have a backdoor forum that members can post offsite discussions. Stay with IPS mobile.

  13. Finally made the jump to 4.5 this morning but now I can't sign into Marketplace in the ACP which seems to be the only way to get plugins and themes now.

I tried on two different browsers - Firefox and Safari.  Still getting the same error.

I have in a support ticket but no response on it.

Anyone else have this issue and a solution?
